TLDR - What’s The Verdict On The Rainmaker Challenge?

I realize that there are a lot of you who just want to skip to the end and see if Stephen and Chelsey are all they're cracked up to be and if The Rainmaker Challenge would actually be worth your time, so let's unpack this a bit.

If you've had the chance to look over some of my other reviews, you can probably tell that I'm not the biggest fan of Amazon FBA, mainly because of all the moving pieces.

I’m not saying that it’s impossible to make money in this industry, because I know a lot of people who have, myself included, but there’s quite a bit to learn. Especially if you want to hit the big paydays.

Courses like The Rainmaker Challenge can certainly cut the learning curve and are much better than trying to piece the process together from a few Youtube videos, but there’s also the issue of dealing with suppliers and competition.

Now, please don’t think I’m saying this because I believe Stephen and Chelsey don’t have their student’s interests at heart; I absolutely believe they do.

There are, however, other courses that I’ve written about (for example, Tamara Tee’s FBA Winners Course) that also teach about Amazon FBA and are geared towards stay-at-home moms. So, you’ll be dealing with others with the same goals; in fact, Tamara has nearly 6,000 followers on her Hello Tamara Tee Facebook page.

Back when I was doing FBA, I knew it was getting too saturated when I was able to guess who my competitor was just by the products they were selling.

It’s kind of like getting out the door early on a Saturday to go to the local farmer’s market for some fresh produce, but when you get there, you see just about everyone else in the neighborhood, and all the good fruit is gone.

So you basically only have a few choices left:

1. Try to muscle your way through the lines or find another market
2. Settle for the fruit that no one else wanted
3. Go home empty-handed or buy frozen fruit from Wal-Mart.

As a stay-at-home mom, I’m sure you’ve dealt with the disappointment of never reaching certain goals; you just never found the right path.

Trust me, I can relate.

Which is why this program that I’ve been doing for the last couple of years is different from the others.

I know that jumping into something new can be scary, especially when you have little ones to look after, or maybe you’re already wondering if there’s something better.

It's just good to test out your options.

If you believe that The Rainmaker Challenge checks off all the boxes, then you should probably jump in, especially if you believe that Stephen and Chelsey can give you the support you’ll need.

Although if you’re looking for something that can give you the type of control over your own business that most courses lack, then you should look at Digital Leasing.

We’ll get to that later, but for now, let’s look at the type of person who would benefit from The Rainmaker Challenge and who might not.

Who Should Consider The Rainmaker Challenge And Who Should Look Somewhere Else?

In my experience, the best way to figure out who’s the type of person that would get the most of a course like The Rainmaker Challenge and who wouldn’t is to do a kind of side-by-side comparison. 

This way you can see if you match any of the traits and can make a good decision for yourself. 

In fact, I’ve always thought that people make the choices just by going strictly on one person's advice. 

So, if you can see yourself in any of the following scenarios, then maybe The Rainmaker Challenge might be the one for you: 

• As a beginner with Amazon FBA, you might need to look over somebody else’s shoulder, so RC could be the answer
• You’ve dabbled in FBA but nothing panned out, but you think you could make it work with a little bit of structure
• This Youtube user says she’s happy that she joined the program and was able to change her mindset to a more positive one. She thinks that Stephen and Chelsey are genuine and was grateful that they helped her make a quick sale on Facebook Marketplace to help fund her business. 

Now, if you find yourself relating to any of these, then The RC might not be the best fit:

• Maybe Amazon FBA be a good choice, but you’re still looking into other ways to make money like how to become an Amazon affiliate marketer, or starting an SEO business.
• This Reddit user thinks the program is a scam. After paying $47, she was told to spend an additional $900 on a master class for better information. They advised her to sell personal items on Facebook Marketplace to raise about $10,000 as starting capital for her business.
• This Trustpilot user joined and shortly afterwards switched to the lifetime option when her baby got sick. While in the Facebook group she saw a post about needing to pay $6,000 to join a Mastermind in order to effectively do the business. That post was removed the next day, but she felt they should be up front about it.

The Rainmaker Challenge: A 1,000 Ft View

Now, let’s take a quick mountain top view of Stephen and Chelsey’s Rainmaker Challenge business model and how you actually make money with it. 

The Rainmaker Challenge Business Model

There’s nothing special, per se, about Stephen and Chelsey when it comes to the business model. There have been many course creators that have adopted it; I just want to be clear about that. 

So the way Amazon FBA works is like this…

Let’s say you have a product to sell, either you’ve made it or you’ve found someone else to make it for you.  You can then send these products to Amazon, or have them shipped there by your supplier.  

With an Amazon Seller Account, you can have Amazon do all the order processing and shipping for you as long as you handle all the sales and make sure your products stay in stock.

How Much Does Amazon FBA Cost?

The cost for FBA will include services like: 

• Picking
• Packing
• Shipping & Handling
• Customer Service
• Returns

There are basically two categories: 

1. Apparel: Fees can range from $3.43 to $161.11 per item
2. Non-Apparel: Fees can range from $3.07 to $161.11 per item

There are also storage fees that you’ll need to pay ranging anywhere from $0.75 - $2.40 per cubic foot

Amazon FBA Pros and Cons

Next, let’s take a look at a few Amazon FBA Pros and Cons… 

FBA Pros 

• Amazon Prime: As an FBA member you get all the benefits of the Prime service including free shipping and no premium charges
• Buy Box: You get access to the “Add To Cart” and “Buy Now” boxes which is great because more than 80% of purchase are made that way. 
• Shipping Discounts: Since Amazon has deep pockets and handles all the shipping for you, they pass on bulk discounts to you. 

FBA Cons

• It’s Not Cheap: Selling through Amazon can be costly for specific items, so you’ll need to do your research to see if FBA makes sense.  Here’s a calculator to help you estimate your costs. 
• Inventory Management: You are responsible for making sure that your inventory is kept up-to-date with proper labeling and follow FBA guidelines. 
• Branding: Since Amazon does the shipping, customers will see their logo on the box and won’t see your brand until they open it.

How Do You Make Money With Amazon FBA?

Making money with Amazon FBA is a simple concept. You buy products at a low cost, then sell them at a higher cost. Everything in the middle is just the cost of doing business, so if you can keep all those costs lower than the gross revenue, you're making a profit!

Here are six basic steps you should follow:

1. Get Started: To begin, set up an Amazon Professional Seller Account, which costs $39.99 per month. Then, create your Amazon store and add products to sell.
2. Branding and Strategy: Your store needs a unique name and brand, so use social media to build that brand. Decide if you want to sell other people's products or your own. Selling your own takes more effort but you can make money.
3. Find Your Niche: Choose products you know about or look at what other sellers in your niche are doing.
4. Use Tools and Outsource: Use software tools for product and keyword research, listing optimization, inventory management, and tracking analytics. Consider outsourcing tasks you don't want to do.
5. Keep Records: Document everything - sales, inventory, etc. This helps with taxes, customer disputes, and tracking your business performance.
6. Insurance and Accounting: Consider getting general liability insurance and accounting software. It also couldn't hurt to take a few business classes.

Who Are Stephen and Chelsey Diaz?

Stephen and Chelsey Diaz made a big change in 2017. They stopped their wedding photography business and started an online community to help moms make money from home, focusing on eCommerce and digital products. 

They call these moms "Rainmakers" and teach them how to build big businesses while still having time for their families.

They have two sons, Kaizen and Oliver, who are the light of their lives. Having kids taught Stephen and Chelsey a lot which moved them to switch their thinking to the most important areas of their lives.

For example, Chelsey remembers all those late night 3am feedings and the little sleep that she and Stephen got, but they changed their mindset away from the lost sleep to more time they can spend together as parents.

Stephen and Chelsey believe that being grateful helps you be happier, and they use this idea in their Rainmakers program. They mentor moms on how to make money online, especially with Amazon FBA – selling products on Amazon and using Amazon's warehouses to store and send products.

This way, Rainmaker families can make a lot of money without spending less time with their loved ones.

Their goal is to help Rainmakers have better family lives and financial freedom. They want these moms to understand their "why" – the reason they do what they do.

Stephen and Chelsey help these moms connect more with their families and be free from money worries, and they do this by helping them find success in both their family life and their business.

How Much Does The Rainmaker Challenge Cost?

To be a member of the Rainmaker Family, it will cost you $47 to get started with the 7-day course. At first glance, this may not sound like a lot of money; in fact, you can find a ton of similar programs for about the same price on platforms like Udemy.

However, as you might have guessed from reading other Rainmaker Challenge reviews, there are going to be upsells.

Get this: if you aren’t able to finish the first round of the Rainmaker Challenge, you can purchase it again for $147. Unfortunately, they don’t allow you to go through it again otherwise.

Don’t think about just purchasing it again at $47, because somehow they’re able to snag your IP address and redirect you to their upsells page.

Next, if you want to take advantage of their “1-on-1 Feedback Session”, that will cost you another $247.

All in all, the course will cost you about $421, which includes the basic course and the upsells.

There’s also something that isn’t mentioned when you first get started. Stephen and Chelsey also suggest you have anywhere from $1,000 to $10,000 in the bank to get you up and running on Amazon. I can definitely see why they didn’t lead with that.

The Rainmaker Challenge Refund Policy

Stephen and Chelsey have what they call the “Make It Rain” Money-Back Guarantee, and it works like this:

After the first day of the program, if you think it’s not worth 10x the full investment (roughly $470), then you can request a full refund.

What you’ll need to do is email their team before 9 p.m. PST on the second day.

You’ll need to make up your mind quickly, for obvious reasons.

If you don’t, your hands are tied, and you’ll need to finish out the course.

Rainmaker Challenge Scam: Is The Rainmaker Challenge Legit Or Not?

I’m guessing some of you have been biting your nails about the dreaded “Rainmaker Challenge Scam” question, so here’s what I think… 

I don’t think it is, and after going through the course and listening to Stephen and Chelsey, I would go so far to say that it’s definitely not a scam. 

However, my biggest hurdle isn’t so much with the course itself, but the business model behind it.

In theory, the idea of Amazon handling most of the logistics for you is great, but in practice if you're not consistently in the black, then those fees will take a huge chunk out of your profit margins.

I think your best option would be to check out Digital Leasing, which is what I’ve been doing for the last few years.

Next, I’d like to do a kind of side-by-side comparison of other programs in the Amazon FBA industry:

Sophie Howard

While The Rainmaker Challenge is an introductory course that’s designed for the beginner in mind, Sophie Howard’s FBA program focuses on individuals that do have some knowledge or experience with Amazon FBA and teaches how to find niches that aren’t too competitive, whereas RC focuses on finding products that are generally more profitable.

Sophie also includes courses like Product University and Amazon Navigator in order to go more in-depth in FBA.

The Wholesale Formula

The Wholesale Formula was created by Dan Meadors and Dylan Frost, who both have a strong background in FBA. Their approach to Amazon FBA is more along the lines of wholesaling than the typical FBA arbitrage of private labeling.

The course teaches you how to approach company brands directly and offer to be their direct Amazon seller while offering their products at a discount. While The Rainmaker Challenge focuses on creating a steady work/life balance, The Wholesale Formula teaches more about business growth and how to scale quickly.

Tom Wang FBA Masterclass

Tom Wang’s takes a much different approach to teaching about Amazon FBA. Tom is an experienced Amazon seller and created his course to cover every possible detail of the FBA business model.

His pitch in Tom Wang FBA Masterclass is that he wants you to become a millionaire in 12 months, but the course is on the pricier side, doesn’t offer any refunds, and requires a hefty initial investment of about $20,000 to get your FBA business up and running.

My Personal Opinion About The Rainmaker Challenge

Now that we’re getting close to wrapping it up, I’d like to give you all my opinion about Stephen and Chelsey Diaz’s course and their approach to Amazon FBA.

Frankly, I want to step away from the course review and take a deeper look into some characteristics of Amazon FBA coaches that might not be covered in other reviews about Stephen and Chelsey you may have read online.

So, sometimes when you're looking at reviews for courses like The Rainmaker Challenge, you’ll find a few that are so bad that you may wonder why anyone would consider buying the course, and then you’ll find some that are so good that you’re tripping over your own feet to place the order.

Clearly, this might cause some confusion, and you’re left asking yourself, “What should I do?”

The reason for this is mainly because there are so many different people with different mindsets, and their approaches to remedying issues are either reactive or proactive.

I’m not trying to get into the weeds on this, so let me keep it simple.

When people purchase a course like this, some of them will have a great experience, while others won’t.

The ones with a great experience are usually the ones who soak up everything that’s taught in the course like a sponge and set the world on fire, while others will either find the concepts difficult to pick up or they simply don’t put what they learned into action.

I have a feeling that the really bad reviews come from that latter group, and the good reviews (what little there may be) come from the ones that want to tell their success story as soon as they find time outside of running their successful business.

Usually, these bad reviewers either:

• Purchased the program but ran into an issue shortly afterwards that never got resolved
• Had a problem selling items on Facebook Marketplace
• Wanted to get a refund but were past the cut-off date, and now they are looking for some sort of retribution.

You have to buckle down when you jump into programs like this, because success takes work.

It’s like planting a flower garden and expecting to see growth without giving it some fertilizer or even water.

So, with all the hoopla going on about The Rainmaker Challenge, you can see how making a decision to buy or not might be a bit confusing. Which is why I came up with a list of five areas to look at:

1. Course Creator Experience: Is the creator of the course simply repacking information they learned by purchasing another course, or do they actually practice what they preach?
2. Support: Is there a support group of people who bought the course that you can go to whenever you have questions or issues? This will be invaluable, especially when you feel like calling it quits.
3. Quality: I believe that the majority of people will look at courses like this and base their decision to buy solely on the price tag. I’ve been guilty of this myself, but if you see value in the training, then price is secondary.
4. Upsells: This one has always been a pet peeve of mine. I can’t tell you the number of times that I’ve purchased a course and then seen an option to buy a more expensive version (upsell) after punching in my credit card number. I would rather they list all the prices at once so I can see what’s coming.
5. Success Stories: When everything is said and done, ultimately the only thing that matters is whether you can make money with the program or not. Are there students who have done it, and can you be one of them?

Would I Recommend The Rainmaker Challenge?

I know there are some of you who are on the edge of your seats wanting me to give you my final answer, but if you can bare with me for just a few minutes longer, I’d like to tell you what I like and don’t like about the course based on the five steps I just gave you. 

What I like

First, making money with Amazon FBA isn’t all that hard to do, so long as you find a good product that people will want to buy. 

Also, if you’re the type of person that knows how to get around roadblocks (which always happen), then the FBA / Dropshipping industry has a solid track record. 

Just keep in mind all the extra fees when having Amazon store your products for you. 

I’ve never had the privilege of meeting Stephen and Chelsey, but from their course training and other videos I’ve seen, I get a strong feeling that they truly want to make a positive impact on stay at home moms. I just think that Amazon FBA might be a big hill to climb for someone starting out. 

It’s not terrible expensive for everything they offer, so if you have the funds available, then I would say go for it, but remember that you’ll need close to $10,000 in startup money when working with Amazon. 

What I Didn’t Like

Do you remember when I mentioned people who gave bad reviews about The Rainmaker Challenge? I’d like to go over a few those: 

• This Trustpilot user had been in the Rainmaker Challenge for seven days at the time of her review and felt it wasn't worth it. The course had a lot of sales talk and motivational stories but not much practical teaching, while Stephen and Chelsey kept urging her to buy more expensive courses, saying if she didn't, she wasn't really trying. They pushed for her to take risks, comparing not buying their course to not going to the gym because you're not fit. While she agrees positive thinking is good, she's upset they suggest going into more debt for their program. She also wishes they were clearer about paying extra for software subscriptions.
• This Truspilot user asked for her money back from Rainmakers just three days into their program and is relieved she only spent $47 and feels sorry for others who spent more and weren't happy. She shared her disappointment with the company and although the course creators seemed nice, the content didn't match up with what was promised. She felt sick watching videos that she says were all talk and no real help, and didn't like how they kept asking for more money.

What's Inside The Rainmaker Challenge?

When you look at The Rainmaker Challenge’s sales page, you can’t help but get excited to join. They use certain catchphrases, like “family goals,” to get you thinking that the world of passive income is at your fingertips.

Also, they sneak in a few phrases like “start your own ‘hands-off’ business” as though selling products on Amazon is a walk in the park.

Curiosity is a strong emotion, and I’m guessing that the idea of building an FBA Empire has got you thinking you can do this, especially given the fact that you could pay off a car loan or mortgage in just a few years.

Trust me, I know the desire for financial freedom can be a strong motivator, and being the hero of the family makes it even more enticing.

So, before you make any quick decisions, let’s go through what you’ll get in the course and some important questions Stephen and Chelsey will cover.

Rainmaker Challenge Day 1:

On Day One, you’ll learn about this “Next Big Thing” called selling on Amazon, but with more than 10 million merchants, it’s not all that new. Anyone can sign up with Amazon to be a seller, and you have two options: FBA (Fulfilled By Amazon) and FBM (Fulfilled By Merchant).

As I mentioned earlier, with FBA, you can have Amazon warehouse all your products for a fee. If you want to save a few dollars, you can ship the product to your customer yourself (FBM).

Questions:

• Where do I start?
• What is Amazon FBA?
• How does it work?

Rainmaker Challenge Day 2:

On Day 2, they’ll show you how much time you’ll need to dedicate to your new business in order to create passive income. You’ll hear them say that it should only carve out a few hours every week, but it’ll take more than that.

Questions:

• How long does it take to build passive income?
• Who else has made money with this?

Rainmaker Challenge Day 3:

Doing Amazon FBA is exactly cheap. I remember when I first tried this back in 2016, I got started with a little over $500 since there was so little competition. Today, it’s going to cost you much more because everyone and their cousin have ten similar products to sell.

Questions:

• How much money will I need to get started?

Rainmaker Challenge Day 4:

Finding a product to sell on Amazon can be tricky, but the easiest way to get an idea is to go to Amazon and check out their Best Sellers page. You’ll find that there are a million different products to choose from, but you also need to find ones that are profitable.

Questions:

• How can I make product research easier?
• What do I do if I can’t find a product?

Rainmaker Challenge Day 5:

Finding profitable products has been the bane of many companies, and there’s a lot of trial and error involved. Stephen and Chelsey will show you how to use the special software they use.

Questions:

• How do I find a product to sell?
• Which niche should I pick?
• Should I start a YouTube channel?

Rainmaker Challenge Day 6:

Now that you have an idea of the products you want to sell, you’ll need to find a place to order them, and there are manufacturers for just about any product

• Where can I find products to list on Amazon?

Rainmaker Challenge Day 7:

Every business owner dreams about reaching the six-figure mark. It’s usually done by widening your customer base, introducing new products, or running ads. Stephen and Chelsey will touch on these.

• How fast can I grow my FBA business?

My Conclusion: Should You Join The Rainmaker Challenge?

When it comes to Amazon FBA courses, The Rainmaker Challenge is an introductory course designed to give you a taste of what’s involved with selling products on Amazon.

So, the initial price tag isn’t all that bad for what you're taught, and I believe that Stephen and Chelsey are truly in this to help people make money on Amazon the way they have, although I think they could be a little more upfront about the total costs involved with the entire course.

That being said, I can’t recommend the course, but not because of the course itself.

I’m just not a big fan of Amazon FBA.

Like I said earlier, I’ve tried it and even made some money with it, but that was back in the day when it wasn’t so saturated, it's a completely different story in [year].

I would suggest looking into another program, and here’s why:

As we wrap this up, let me say that there aren’t many business models that I haven’t tried at least one… 

• I’ve sold flashing dog collars on Amazon
• I’ve sold weight loss ebooks on Clickbank
• I’ve even tried flippling real estate for quick cash

While there may be no “perfect business”, the research IS conclusive:

Digital Leasing is the #1 online business model for those just starting out.

Whether you’ve never made a dollar online, or you’ve been in this space for a while but never really “made it,” Digital Leasing is for you.

Why?

1) It’s Flexible: got an hour a day? You can do this. Ready to drop everything else and dive in full time? You can do this. Yes, the more time you put in, the faster you see results. But even with a little time each day, you can move the needle in a Digital Leasing business.

You also make PASSIVE INCOME which means if you stop working, your money keeps coming in.

Imagine taking 3 months off with your husband to just tour around Europe, rent a cabin in the woods to write a book, or live on the beach and surf all day.

This is only possible if you have an income stream that’s not tied to your time.
2) You Own & Control EVERYTHING: With Amazon FBA, you don’t really own anything. Yes, you technically own the products before you send them into an Amazon warehouse, but that’s it.

You have no control over: 

• The sales platform (Amazon)
• The brand
• The customers

Also, Amazon can shut you down at a moments notice if THEY believe you broke their rules.
So you’re building a business that could be completely taken away from you in the blink of an eye.

With Digital Leasing, you own the assets, which means you have all the power and all the control.
3) Little To No Startup Costs: It’s possible to get into Digital Leasing with zero dollars upfront. Because, using the strategies outlined in this program, you can get a client to pay you BEFORE spending a penny out of your own pocket...even before you do any work.

4) No Inventory: As mentioned above, spending 4-5 hours a day prepping and packing products to send to Amazon is a huge time commitment.

You’ll always need more products and spend more money to scale your business. Physical products will always cost you your time and freedom.

With Digital Leasing, a 100% online business, you never have to worry about that.

5) Easy To Duplicate: Ok, here’s the best part: once you have your first Digital Rental Property up and running, you can DOUBLE your income with a few clicks, a couple keystrokes, and a single phone call (and you don’t actually need the phone call).

Remember: each Digital Rental Property is worth $500 to $2,000 a month in semi-passive income (over 95% profit). Every time you decide to create another one and increase your income, it gets easier, because you have more knowledge, more experience, more results, and more momentum. 

To double income with Amazon FBA, you’d have to double your inventory OR your profit margins. And, guaranteed that’s a lot harder than a few clicks and a few minutes of your life.

6) Make Money Helping Real People: This part is what makes it all worth it. Amazon FBA is a decent way to make yourself money, but it doesn’t improve anyone else’s lives.

After all, there’s always someone else selling rubber spatulas and umbrellas. That might be fine in the short term, but in the long run you feel empty inside.

With Digital Leasing though, you’re actually helping people by solving your clients’ biggest problem…
