About Us

Welcome to Scamrisk! My name is Josiah and this is my dad, Joel. Between the both of us, we make up the team here at Scamrisk.com!

You might be wondering – why in the h*ll would you two spend time making a website that writes about programs online?

Great question!

Between my dad and me – we’ve been involved in a bunch of “money making” opportunities over the years. In college, I messed around a lot with affiliate marketing, Amazon FBA, etc.

When I was growing up, my dad was involved in a few different MLMs – Cutco knives, NuSkin, and other things like that.

What we came to find was that some of them had some real validity – AKA you could actually make money with them – while others were a complete waste of time and money.

So we started Scamrisk to help educate people about what’s what in the space of money making opportunities, so that they could decide what is genuinely best for them.

After failing with a bunch of different opportunities, we finally hit success with a lead generation program taught by our mentor, Joshua T. Osborne.

My dad was able to quit his full-time job working for the local government, and I was able to not have to ever step foot inside of a traditional “office”.

Here’s a brief timeline of our story:

1992: Joined CutCo while in college and tried my hand at selling knives to family, friends, and complete strangers to help pay for tuition. Although the products were good (they would have to be at $500-$2000/set I thought) I couldn’t really make it work.

1993-2000: Joined NuSkin when a friend of mine in College turned me on to the idea of Network Marketing. This was the first MLM company I was introduced to and the business model intrigued me. With all the rallies, new product releases, and upline diamond executives

1994-1997: Still struggling to get my feet under me with NuSkin, I started working a long line of Temp jobs.

Josiah's Background

I grew up in a small town right outside of Indianapolis, Indiana. It was a pretty quiet town… a lot of dirt roads, a nice little church or two… the epitome of “small town America”.

I was never the most outgoing person in the world. Mostly kept to myself, did well in school, and lived my life.

I always loved cars. One of the highlights of my success in the program I mentioned earlier was being able to buy my dream car, a 1200 HP Chevy Camaro ZL1.

I attended Purdue University and graduated from Indiana Wesleyan University in 2020 with a degree in Computer Information Systems.

Pretty big waste of time and money if you ask me – I still hold a little bit of a personal vendetta against the education system, but that’s a story for another day.

Anyways, that’s me – now I spend my time writing articles here at Scamrisk!

Joel's Background

Like Josiah, I grew up in a small town in Indiana – Brownsburg, in the early 1980s.

It was initially a pretty small town, but exploded overnight in the 90s.

I started off studying computers in college, but ended up dropping out a year later.

I got married in ‘97, but went back to school and got my degree in 2003.

I’m not necessarily the car buff like Josiah, but I was able to buy myself a nice new Ford.

For me, the best part about Scamrisk is being able to work hand-in-hand with my son. Not your traditional family business, but we’re having fun!
