With this in mind, we will be covering the three essential steps to getting started using WooCommerce once the platform has been installed. Let’s get right into it!

Step 1: Complete The Onboarding Wizard.

After activating WooCommerce, the plug-in will direct you to its wizard for onboarding. This is a straightforward tool that will help you navigate through WooCommerce’s settings. Click the “Let’s Go!” button to begin. Click the Let’s go! button.

On the first screen, you will see that WooCommerce allows you to create four essential pages. These sections will ensure your site has the critical functionality that you need to make sales immediately. Select Continue to proceed.

You can select the location of your shop and the currency that you wish to use in the next section. You can also specify additional settings like your store’s units when measuring or weighing your products. Once you are done, click Continue.

It’s pretty easy to navigate the next screen. You simply need to check a box to ship physical products and another to charge sales tax through the store. You can choose to have both these settings.

The final screen will allow you to select which payment methods you would like to accept for your store. WooCommerce will enable you to accept Stripe and PayPal by default. But, we’ll show you how you can add other payment options. You can allow the payment options you prefer for now.

Now, your store is nearly ready to go live. You just need to add some products.

Step 2: Add Your First Product(s).

Your first task after installing WooCommerce will be to create your product catalog. First, open your WordPress dashboard. The Products tab will appear. Click on Create Your First Product to get started. Click the Create Your First Product button.

You will be in the WordPress editor. However, there are some new widgets. Simply type in the name and description of your product.

Scroll down until your Product widget appears. Click on this drop-down to open the menu. You will be able to specify here which type of product this is. If it is digital, be sure to tick the Virtual Box.

After this, you can enter a price for the product in the General tab and indicate if it is in stock in your Inventory settings.

You can now upload a featured image to your product. You can also upload a few additional pictures using the Products gallery widget to give your customers a better understanding of what you’re selling. You can then click on the Publish button. The first item you create will go live.

Step 3: Enable Additional Payment Gateways.

WooCommerce ships by default with PayPal integration. This can allow you to accept checks and cash on delivery. There’s a good possibility that you will want to add more payment gateways to reach more customers.
