An Introduction To WordPress And WooCommerce

WordPress is an extremely powerful platform that you can use for almost any type of website. It can’t help you set up an online shop, however. It doesn’t work without an eCommerce plug-in.

WooCommerce helps you do just that. This popular plug-in contains all you need to start an eCommerce store. The base plug-in comes with all the essential features, but many affordable extensions can expand your options.

The Benefits Of Using WordPress And WooCommerce For Your eCommerce Site

WooCommerce has more than three million downloads.

WordPress is a popular Content Management System. You can use it to quickly create a website. It’s not as powerful as it could be, but you can add nearly any functionality with the help of a plug-in.

Simply put, plug-ins are extensions to WordPress core. Some plug-ins allow you to create custom contact forms. Some even make it possible to sell products online and take payments. WooCommerce belongs to that second category.

WooCommerce wins our vote for the best platform, despite not being the only eCommerce plug-in for WordPress.

  • It is free. Premium extensions are available. We’ll talk more later.
  • You’ll be able to install WooCommerce as a natural extension of WordPress.
  • This plug-in is extremely popular. Help will be easier to find if you run into problems.

These platforms are smart investments. The following will guide you on how to create your own online store.

How To Set Up WordPress And WooCommerce In 3 Easy Steps

If you do not have a WordPress website, you need not worry. The process of getting the platform set up is easy. Let’s start from the top.

Step 1: Register A Domain Name And Pick A Web Host.

SiteGround offers WordPress hosting at great prices.

Many domain owners register their domains through web hosts. It is, however, best to keep them separate. You can quickly transfer your domain name to another host. Namecheap is a service that allows you to select and purchase domains.

You will then need to find a web host that can help you set up your website. SiteGround, which is affordable, user-friendly, and highly scalable, is the best WordPress host.

Flywheel is a managed hosting service that offers more control and flexibility. Keep in mind, however, that these services tend to be more costly.

Once you’ve selected a web host, you need to choose a plan. If you are new to eCommerce, we recommend that you get a basic shared web hosting plan. This allows you to upgrade later if needed. You can now move on to step 2 after you have paid your subscription and registered.

Step 2: Install WordPress On Your Chosen Host.

This step is probably the most simple. WordPress can be installed manually. Most hosts have an installer that you can access from your control area.

The installation process varies from host to host, but you can generally just enter some basic settings, including the site’s URL, domain, and admin credentials.

Step 3: Install And Activate The WooCommerce Plugin.

Finally, you will need to activate WooCommerce. Log in to your WordPress website, and first, look for the Plugins Tab. Click on it and then click the Add New button at the top of the screen.

The next screen will display the search option to locate the WooCommerce plugin. Many plug-ins can be added to the platform. Be sure to select the base one. After finding it, click Download Now.

After a few seconds, the Installation Now button can be replaced with an activate option. This is a sign that the plug-in has been installed but is not yet in use. Click Activate, and WordPress will take care of the rest. WooCommerce is now ready to go. The next section will cover how to configure it.

Summary

WooCommerce is almost the default choice for setting up an online shop if your site was built with WordPress. It is the most comprehensive and polished eCommerce solution. It’s intuitive if you’re already familiar with WordPress. But if you don’t, it’s easy to learn.

Consider these steps in creating your own eCommerce website with WordPress and WooCommerce.

  1. Register a domain and select a web hosting provider.
  2. Install WordPress on your host.
  3. Install and activate WooCommerce.

After your WooCommerce site is activated, it is time to configure the plug-in. We have many features left to talk about, so let us get on to the next section!

Getting Started With WooCommerce

WooCommerce provides many options, but it’s effortless to get started with the platform, even if eCommerce is not your first choice. WooCommerce actually comes with its own setup wizard, which guides you through the basic configurations of your store.

But, it doesn’t cover all the elements that you might need to configure before your site is launched. The setup process only addresses the basics. WooCommerce comes with many extra features that can increase the value of your store. These include the ability to personalize each product and support additional payment gateways.

With this in mind, we will be covering the three essential steps to getting started using WooCommerce once the platform has been installed. Let’s get right into it!

Step 1: Complete The Onboarding Wizard.

After activating WooCommerce, the plug-in will direct you to its wizard for onboarding. This is a straightforward tool that will help you navigate through WooCommerce’s settings. Click the “Let’s Go!” button to begin. Click the Let’s go! button.

On the first screen, you will see that WooCommerce allows you to create four essential pages. These sections will ensure your site has the critical functionality that you need to make sales immediately. Select Continue to proceed.

You can select the location of your shop and the currency that you wish to use in the next section. You can also specify additional settings like your store’s units when measuring or weighing your products. Once you are done, click Continue.

It’s pretty easy to navigate the next screen. You simply need to check a box to ship physical products and another to charge sales tax through the store. You can choose to have both these settings.

The final screen will allow you to select which payment methods you would like to accept for your store. WooCommerce will enable you to accept Stripe and PayPal by default. But, we’ll show you how you can add other payment options. You can allow the payment options you prefer for now.

Now, your store is nearly ready to go live. You just need to add some products.

Step 2: Add Your First Product(s).

Your first task after installing WooCommerce will be to create your product catalog. First, open your WordPress dashboard. The Products tab will appear. Click on Create Your First Product to get started. Click the Create Your First Product button.

You will be in the WordPress editor. However, there are some new widgets. Simply type in the name and description of your product.

Scroll down until your Product widget appears. Click on this drop-down to open the menu. You will be able to specify here which type of product this is. If it is digital, be sure to tick the Virtual Box.

After this, you can enter a price for the product in the General tab and indicate if it is in stock in your Inventory settings.

You can now upload a featured image to your product. You can also upload a few additional pictures using the Products gallery widget to give your customers a better understanding of what you’re selling. You can then click on the Publish button. The first item you create will go live.

Step 3: Enable Additional Payment Gateways.

WooCommerce ships by default with PayPal integration. This can allow you to accept checks and cash on delivery. There’s a good possibility that you will want to add more payment gateways to reach more customers.

WooCommerce extensions can be used to do this. They are similar to WordPress plugins. In the next chapter, we will discuss how to set up extensions. We’ll be discussing how to set extensions up in the next chapter.

You just need to click on the gateway to be added, and then you’ll be taken to the extension page. There, you can select the license type you wish to use and download any files necessary to set it all up. Remember that not all WooCommerce extensions can be free. You’ll need to choose the payment gateways your customers will use.

WooCommerce Themes

Free Themes

A theme is essential for all online stores. There are many WooCommerce templates to choose from. Our recommendation is the WooCommerce Storefront theme. This theme doesn’t cost anything and allows for a lot of customization.

Paid Themes

You may consider investing in a WooCommerce paid theme if you are looking to increase your online store’s size or improve your website design quality.

WooCommerce also sells customized themes which are based upon the Storefront template. You can buy a more powerful, personalized version of the Storefront model. These templates can be purchased as a one-time fee, starting at $39 to $129.

Below are some excellent reasons why it’s good to invest in a paid theme.

  • Your store will be more distinctive and more in line with your branding.
  • It’s easier to grow your online shop with increased functionality.
  • Paid themes have a more tailored and personalized customer service.

WooCommerce Pricing

Although the WooCommerce plugin is entirely free, it requires a hosting plan and domain name to get started. After you have covered the basics, you can decide how much you want to spend on your WooCommerce store. Tons of add-ons will allow you to adjust your budget.

The potential WooCommerce cost includes:

Conclusion

While WooCommerce offers many options, it doesn’t mean you should be overwhelmed. Because it integrates with WordPress, the platform is actually relatively easy to use. WooCommerce can be set up and configured in just minutes.

These are the three steps that you need to take to get started with WooCommerce.

  1. Complete the onboarding wizard.
  2. Add your first product.
  3. Add payment gateways.

What Is Our #1 Recommendation For Making Money Online In 2021?

Our review team has come across a program in the real estate industry that is next level!

Although it’s not real estate in the traditional sense, it’s all digital.

Yup, Digital Real Estate!

With this digital real estate program, you can profit off LOCAL traffic to your website every single day!

Sound too good to be true?

Of course it does!

But it isn’t…in fact, business owners wish they had this skill!

All you have to do is build and rank a LOCAL website and forward the jobs off to a business owner in town, you could even email it to them!

This works for literally any service based business, tree service, plumbing, towing, etc.

How do you get paid and how much?

Simple, after you forward the jobs off to a business owner and he makes some money off of them, you simply ask to make the deal beneficial for each other.

A fair price to charge per lead, depending on the industry is 10-20%…let’s just use the tree service industry for example and go by worst case scenario.

Let’s say you build and rank the site and only 10 jobs a month come in. The average tree service job is anywhere from $500-$2000!

That means at bare minimum you have an asset worth $500 a month!

See why they call it digital real estate now?

That’s a rent payment.

The great thing is how easy it is to scale. You don’t have to worry about various CPC’s setting off different campaigns in the red at different times.

This one actually allows you to collect HUGE FLAT RATE DEALS. Truly passive income!

The training program takes making money online to another level. The owner of the program walks you through how to build and rank a site hand in hand, with the occasional voice over when he is sharing his screen.

You will learn the importance of keywords, website name, how to send call notifications via email, backlinking, etc.

Once the training program is completed you will also have access to a Facebook group where you can get a good deal of support form others who are doing to same thing you are doing.

A business will always want more leads and another job. In fact it doesn’t even matter that the job isn’t coming from their website name…they see it as it is…expanding digital real estate.

Now, I know you probably have tons of questions…

So, check this out to learn more.
