This review will go over Volusion to see if it really is the best ecommerce platform out there.

It now handles everything from sales to support, customer management, inventory management, and nearly everything required to keep an online business afloat and run.

It competes with some of the industry’s biggest names, such as Shopify, BigCommerce, and others, which have enticed businesses with many features, tools, customizations, and other options.

But, hey, Volusion isn’t far behind, as it already has 30,000+ businesses built on this platform, with over 185 million orders and more than $28 billion in sales, according to the most recent count.

What are some examples of the Volusion website?

Volusion is used by over 30K businesses. Famous examples are ‘Get Rugged,’ ‘Jon Hart Design,’ ‘Pepper Place,’ ‘Saw House,’ and ‘WholeSaleFashionSquare.’

What are the Volusion alternatives?

There are numerous Volusion alternatives available, depending on the features and tools you need.

To name a few, Shopify, BigCommerce, 3Dcart, Magento, Wix, Squarespace, and others are available.

The Volusion e-commerce platform provides excellent customer service via phone, email, chat, and a system ticket system throughout the day, 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

Volusion customer service is responsive and would assist users whenever they encounter problems with their e-commerce website.

Although it isn’t as efficient as Shopify, it is still a valuable feature to have on hand when troubleshooting. For minor issues, there is a wealth of information available online.

Volusion Payment Options

Of course, you can’t discuss Volusion e-commerce reviews without mentioning Volusion payments options.

Volusion offers a boatload of payment gateways and payment processing that e-commerce website owners can use to accept payments.

PayPal and Stripe are the two most prominent. Still, there are others, including digital wallets like Apple Pay and Amazon Pay, to name a few.

Integrating other payment options is as simple as using Zapier, which allows you to add any payment app you want with a single click.

One of the best aspects of Volusion is that there are no transaction fees. Users are charged the exact price of the product they purchase, but credit card companies will levy fees on each payment.

Shipping charges are also forwarded to the customer, which is relatively typical compared to any other competitors.

Excellent E-Commerce & Marketing tools: Inventory, Mobile Apps

When it comes to inventory, Volusion websites have an advantage. You can include product videos, a great feature for the Volusion store to sell online clothing and other items.

There is a suggested products feature that allows users to tag recommended products that visitors can look at. Shopify, on the other hand, necessitates a third-party integration.

Furthermore, adding products, updating stocks, prices, and other options are available with a single click. Volusion has an effective mobile app that allows you to manage your inventory more directly from your phone.

Following that, Volusion offers over 1,000 apps that users can integrate with their Volusion websites using Zapier.

Google Shopping, Pinterest, Google Tracking, MailChimp, Postage Printing, and other services are included.

Volusion Pricing & Plans: A Full Volusion Review

Let’s proceed with a Volusion pricing plan review. When looking at an eCommerce platform, this is the most common question.

Is this the most crucial question?

Most likely not.

But, because I understand that an entrepreneur or small business owner has a budget, we must determine whether a small monthly fee will cut into that budget to the point where it is unfavorable.

Fortunately, Volusion’s pricing is affordable for small businesses.

How affordable is it?

I’ll go over the pricing plans and see which one makes the most sense for me and if there are any drawbacks to Volusion pricing.

First and foremost, I see that Volusion has four pricing packages:

  • Personal: $29 per month.
  • Pro: $79 per month.
  • Business: $299 per month.
  • Prime: Based on online sales.

Those prices are immediately comparable to those of Shopify and Volusion. In fact, someone started the trend. Everyone followed suit because they’re nearly identical (with BigCommerce adding $0.95 to each of its plans for some reason).

Aside from that, Volusion, Shopify, and BigCommerce all have monthly plans starting at $29, $79, and $299.

Personal Plan

First and foremost, the Personal plan is available for $29 per month. It includes, among other things, online sales of up to $50,000 per year, a 0% transaction fee, a single staff account, 100 products, and online customer support.

All plans include unlimited bandwidth and features such as a secure checkout, free and responsive themes, drag and drop tools, social media integrations, easy inventory management, and more.

However, a problem arises right away with Volusion pricing. I discovered that the Personal Plan limits you to selling 100 products. Shopify and Bigcommerce allow you to sell an unlimited number of products.

The Volusion Personal plan provides a drag-and-drop website builder, free themes, secure payment processing, unlimited bandwidth, and social media integrations. You also get access to inventory management and built-in SEO tools.

Professional Plan

The second option is the Professional Plan, which starts at $79 per month. It includes all of the features of the Personal Plan but takes them to the next level.

It allows for $100,000 in online sales per year, a 0% transaction fee, 5 staff accounts, 5000 product inventory, and online and phone customer support.

Abandoned Cart Reports, Phone Orders and CRM, Import and Export, and finally, rating and reviews are among the other features.

The Pro plan appears to be a much better starting point for all online store owners, particularly if I intend to sell thousands of products.

The plan includes support for 5,000 products, which is still less than what I’d prefer (unlimited). Still, the average small business should be okay with that.

The Pro plan also includes features for phone orders, abandoned cart reports, and newsletters, as well as customer reviews and product importing/exporting. That’s a significant improvement over the Personal plan.

Business Plan

The third option is the Business Plan, which costs $299 per month. It includes all of the features of the Professional Plan plus up to $500K in online sales per year, unlimited products and bandwidth, priority customer support, 15 staff accounts, and all of the features listed above.

In addition, you get Amazon and eBay integrations, a customer loyalty program, a dedicated success team, third-party shipping calculated rates and payment gateways, API access, and other benefits.

Prime Plan

In contrast to the other plans mentioned above, the Prime Plan is based on online sales.

It has no annual cap on online sales and has an unlimited number of staff accounts, products, and bandwidth.

Customer support on the Prime Plan is VIP, and it includes all of the features found in the Business Plan and more.

Volusion’s strength is that all of its tools and features are focused on data, crunching numbers, and providing an excellent lineup of analytics tools to help you scale your business.

It isn’t the best e-commerce platform because there are so many other options, but it does leave an impression.

It has excellent payment gateway options and native features such as suggested products and product videos. It has impressive pricing plans with no transaction fees, which is another advantageous feature.

On the other hand, it lacks design tools and capability, so you can’t expect to build a full-fledged online retail store with it.

Integrations are still required for adding a blog via subdomain, an SSL certificate must be purchased separately, and AngularJS knowledge is needed for better Search Engines Optimization (SEO), among other things.

Overall, the platform provides excellent business scalability, data and analytics, impressive customization control, a plethora of apps, and more to come.

Sales Channels

While browsing the Volusion apps, I wondered if Volusion had any sales channels other than its standard online store.

Suppose I plan to attend tradeshows or open a physical retail store. In that case, I’ll need to sync my store’s products with Amazon and eBay.

Volusion has a POS system for physically scanning items and credit cards. While not as robust as Square, Stripe, or Shopify, Volusion offers physical card swiping tools for running cards and adding orders to the online store.

In short, Volusion appears to have a POS that’s directly linked to its online store backend. So you can’t easily create a multi-device POS for a store. It’s more like manually entering orders into the Volusion dashboard. However, a more advanced in-person system is possible. Also, a credit card swipe is possible. Because Square already has the infrastructure built for retail online stores, I think it’s best to use them for POS.

But what about online marketplaces?

The initial step is to set up a Facebook Shop and connect it to your Volusion Shop to reflect changes to products on both Facebook and Volusion.

From the Volusion dashboard, you can create a Facebook store. Under Marketing > Facebook Store.

Then you can choose to sell your products on Facebook. I liked that you could pick and choose which products to send to the Facebook Store. You can also display a Deal of the Day and sort the products by default on Facebook.

Can you make Money With Volusion?

Yes, You can!


There’s a lot that comes along with eCommerce that many people struggle with.

Now, don’t get the wrong idea…

It’s not impossible to make money with eCommerce, but if you’re gonna put in the amount of grueling work to do this business (which, trust us, isn’t easy), you might as well bring in some REAL money while you’re learning the ropes.

The program that helped skyrocket many online businesses to over $40,000+ per month is so simple that making money really does become second nature.

Volusion Review: The Verdict

Volusion focuses on data with the most extensive inventory of any website builder. Despite the excellent analytics tools, it is not the best eCommerce option.

Shopify wins all-around.

Except for sales, it is in the middle of the pack in all areas. Its best features are product videos, payment gateway options, and suggested products.
