But what if you can do the renting and make BANK off of it?
Surprisingly it’s not as simple as going and cleaning a house and getting paid in cash. Unfortunately you still have to find a way to report all that revenue to good ole uncle Sam so he can get his cut.
However, if you’re just cleaning the kitchen for friends and family once a week for $30 or so, that doesn’t really constitute as a business so you don’t have to necessarily register yourself as a business. But, if you’re bringing in more than a couple hundred fun coupons, you need to find out how to report that so the IRS doesn’t come knocking down your door.
When you start a cleaning business, you can start as a sole proprietor…or in partnership with someone else. We also recommend that when starting any business, you set up an LLC so that you can separate your business and personal finances.

The biggest way home cleaners earn new business is through their current clients. Whenever their friends will mention anything about needing some housecleaning, you’ll be the first ones they’ll mention if you’ve done a good job.
And they can add up fast, the average price to clean a single family home is $120-$150 according to Home Advisor. Imagine if you got 5 referrals a week?
Now this is just the average, it could be higher it could be lower, it all just depends on your area. There are different ways to price your cleaning services too. It can be an hourly rate, flat rate, or even by square footage. All that is up to you.

Just be sure to work at rates that are competitive and still profitable for you.
