Cybrary Reviews: What Is Cybrary?
Cybrary was created in 2015 and has won awards every single year since then. It provides courses on online cyber security with the aim of helping you “start your career with the cybersecurity and IT development platform.” Despite having a rather niche topic, the platform is not small—it has more than 3 million users including 500 million minutes of video content.
Cybrary wants to teach you the fundamentals of cybersecurity through workshops, immersive online lab classes, and hands-on experiments, and then take what you’ve learned to the expert level.
How Does Cybrary Work? What Are The Cyber Security Courses?
Cybrary has ‘career pathways’ in a wide variety of topics. Security architecture, network security, and penetration testing, are examples of those topics.
Every career path is a compilation of content that has been specifically crafted to provide you with all of the knowledge, skills, and abilities required to work in that specific field. Included in the content are videos, hands-on skill development laboratories, assessments, and practice tests.
To start off with Cybrary, all you need to do is log in with your username, Facebook, or Google details to create your Cybrary account. You don’t need to key in your credit card information. Next is you confirm that you are not a robot, then click on your verification email and you’re good to go.
Cybrary suggests a few introductory courses for newbies in the industry, such as CompTIA A Network. These are an excellent way to determine whether you want to work in the industry and which path to take.
You can start a course right away or get your bearings by going to your homepage. You will see in the Dashboard your assignments, classes, career paths, bookmarks, and recommendations.
You are also provided with an inbox for any updates, as well as a progress bar for your classes. Although the bulk of Cybrary’s courses are free of charge, they also advertise their premium membership, so you’ll see big banner advertisements constantly urging you to upgrade.
If you just want to browse through the course list, its organization that they are associated with filters it, so you’ll finda subject for CompTIA, Oracle, Azure, Oracle, and Vmware, and so on. Courses are often organized into bins based on their rank, mentor, or career direction.
It can be challenging to find a class with too many options arranged in this manner. The easiest method is to either pick a career path or to explore Cybrary’s customized tips for you.
Upon clicking on a course, you will see various informational stats to help you decide whether or not to join. The time—the number of training hours the course provides—as well as the level—beginner, intermediate, or advanced—and a short description of the course are all mentioned.
The instructor profiles’ links are also provided where their other classes and ratings are posted. This way you can check the number of students who have enrolled in the course—plus what they have to say about it.
Quite a few courses provide certificates when you've completed tem, which is nice. Students studying Cyber Security or Computer Science can also take classes that will help them prepare for the CompTIA A certification.
You will see what each lesson offers by scrolling through the syllabus. You may also download project files or study guides that are part of the course content. Some courses involve virtual laboratories, which are in-browser and include no downloads—however, these courses are only available to Pro subscribers.
Few courses also provide certificates of completion. The number of CEUs that it’s worth is found in the course page as well.
Each is comprised of video training sessions that range in length from 4 to 10 minutes. You can enable captions, rewind, and skip ahead to various lessons that interest you. You can’t, however, download them. So, it is advisable to have a strong internet connection to enjoy an uninterrupted study.
Pricing For Cybrary Courses
Online courses industry is becoming more competitive each year. And as such, the price thereof rises as demand also increases.
With Cybrary, thankfully, most of their courses are absolutely free. But you do have the option to upgrade to Insider Pro which costs $49.50 per month, or $33.25 if you pay annually.
You have unrestricted access to video classes, qualifications reviews, and practice exercises with Cybrary Pro. You will also have access to career paths ctrated by experts, as well as live lectures and a Slack forum where you can network and interact with other cybersecurity mentors and professionals.
This seems to be a smarter choice than the Basic package, which gives you very limited access to other important courses.
Site Organization & Membership
If you check their website, Cybrary would appear to be lacking in details. This is odd for people who work in technology!
However, after you’ve built your Basic (Free) account by entering and validating your email address, the site seems to be more user friendly.
On the page, there is a dashboard where your career paths are posted, including your future courses, assignments, tasks, reviews, and bookmarks.
Overall, the classes are well-organized. They are classified according to the company of which they are affiliated (e.g., Azure, CompTIA, VMware, Oracle) and are categorized according to their rank, mentor, and career path.
Other Uses For Cybrary
Cybrary also does credential prep for students as part of their Pro membership, assisting them in studying for the CompTIA qualification and other certifications.
They also have more than 200 skills testing assessments, which will help you identify areas of improvement and provide clarity in your learning process.
Career pathways are integrated into the Pro subscription, enabling you to see the learning journey from beginning to end.
Cybrary “collaborates with business leaders and learning specialists to ensure that all career paths give you the expertise you need to launch your career, get a promotion, and receive industry certificates.”
If you are a paying member, you get to have unlimited laboratories, as well as browser-based scenarios so you can have a hands-on practice without the need for a software to do it.
They also have live workshops where you can engage with professors as well as mentors.
These advisors and instructors are designated to you as you begin the program and will assist you in deciding which profession to pursue and will provide career guidance by evaluating your CV and improving your interview skills.
Is Cybrary Accredited?
Although Cybrary is not formally licensed, this is not uncommon in the field of online education. They do provide certification preparation, and you can obtain your accreditation by taking the official tests and passing them.
However, just because these classes aren’t fully accredited doesn’t imply they are useless. The courses provide you with a proficiency in the content material so you can demonstrate in your work—and display that you are motivated and can learn independently, which are attributes that many employers seek.
Cybrary vs PluralSight
PluralSight, which was created in 2004, is another technology-related course website. They cover a wider variety of subjects, such as Cloud Computing and Programming, but they do provide a whole category dedicated to Cyber security.
They include many tools so users can monitor their progress, such as Roles IQ and Skills, including quizzes for every module, and the option to take notes while watching it.
Many of their courses often have tasks to complete—real-world examples in which you can produce something to put on your LinkedIn profile or resume.
PluralSight, on the other hand, also offers free subscriptions like Cybrary does. You have a 7-day free trial. When your trial period expires, you would need to pay a monthly fee of $29/month for a standard membership, which includes access to all resources but does not provide certificates.
A paid certificate-earning membership would set you back $499 per year, which is significantly more than Cybrary’s fee at $299.
Cybrary also provides CEUs for some of its courses and also has a huge and active group on Slack, as opposed to a small, site-based forum, which some PluralSight users say crashes most of the time.
Cybrary vs LinkedIn Learning
LinkedIn is a corporate giant, so it’s not shocking that their learning app is a giant too. Once more, they cover a broader variety of topics than Cybrary—a simple search for Cybersecurity yields 685 results, though the majority of them are more generic, simple overview classes.
Many courses contain exercise files, and upon completing them, your certificate is shown on your LinkedIn profile. You can also download courses on virtually any smart devices and carry on your education wherever you are and anytime of the day and week.
They’re just a little less expensive than Cybrary at $29.99/month, or alternatively $19.99 per month for an annual subscription–and majority of the libraries have free access.
They also have less implicitly free alternatives than Cybrary. You will get a free month of trial, but afterwards, you must pay to access classes. The majority of their courses are also shorter, lasting just 2-3 hours. Cybrary has more in-depth classes, with each course containing multiple hours of instruction.

Scam Risk's #1 Recommended Way To Make Money Online In 2021
Are you looking for an online business that you can run where you won’t run into competition left and right?
What about something that can lead to passive income down the road…
Does that interest you at all?
Our Scam Risk team has done some digging into an online business model that has just recently popped up.
With the looming housing crisis that will make 2008 look like a toddler, many real estate investors and online entrepreneurs having begun building digital assets!
Digital Real Estate
Or local lead generation as some people call it, is the process of building out websites and generating leads for small service based businesses.
It’s actually pretty similar to dropshipping except for a couple key differences:
- You can make more money off of less traffic
- Competition is practically non existent at the local level
- Much easier to rank!
Before you start calling it scam…keep this in mind, we are Scam Risk…
We report scams. We don’t promote them. See a Cybrary link anywhere?
Now that that’s out of the way let’s dive deeper into that comparison.
With dropshipping, you have rank for national keywords, which is really hard to do because of how much competition there is.
You are having to compete with like 1 million other people to sell the same product…it’s crazy hard!
But now let’s flip the script…
How many people do you think are competing to cut down trees in Bossier City Louisiana?
So now that we’ve established that competition for local lead generation is much less than for dropshipping…let’s talk about the money. It’s always about the money right?
Most dropshipping products you would sell are likely $50-$100 and on top of that you’re lucky if you’re making a 10-20% margin from Amazon because of it.
That means you’ll have to sell 1,000-2,000 of products just to reach a decent income of 5k per month. You definitely have your work cut out for you on that end…
Now let’s take a look back at that tree service example again…
The average tree service job is worth anywhere from $500-$2,000 and most contractors are generous with their referral fees, being known to pay out roughly 10-20% of the final ticket.
So now it’s time for some math…
Let’s say you build and rank one of these sites in a local area with very little competition and after 3 months, your site is at the top of page one locally.
And let’s say you end up with just 10 calls.
On top of that, let’s say Covid hit the tree service guy and his family extra hard this year and he can only pay you 10%.
What this means is that one of these sites could potentially bring you in $500 per month…Assuming you build 10 of these things…you’re looking at 5k a month and you’re generating literally 1/10th of the traffic it would require to generate with Ecommerce.
Where To Learn
Our team at Scam Risk has taken the time to go out and find a program that we could recommend and give our Scam Risk seal of approval too.
We don’t take it lightly either.
After months of searching far and wide, we finally found one!
