Because of his parents’ jobs, their family moved around a lot. Wiz Khalifa lived in Japan, the United Kingdom, and Germany before he and his mother moved to Pittsburgh in 1996.

Wiz Khalifa began writing and performing his own songs at 15, not long after moving to Pittsburgh.

Benjy Grinberg, the founder, and CEO of Rostrum Records, found Wiz Khalifa when he was 16. Grinberg gave Wiz Khalifa a deal to record and be managed.
