According to the minimal information Shawn Moore provides on the Vodyssey website, Vodyssey (formerly known as Lifestyle Asset University) is a service that promises to teach you how to buy and rent out vacation homes without worrying about the drawbacks of conventional real estate investment.
It is essentially a coaching program that will educate you on how to generate passive income by investing in these holiday homes. Shawn Moore says he created the program to help others achieve financial freedom.
The website is really not that helpful since all it shows me is a vague description of what the system is about, and before you can even learn more in the ad, they bombard you with attempts to get your contact information.
Generally speaking, if a website doesn’t explain much other than “you can do it!” or “it’s all about mindset!”, then they haven’t earned the privilege of your email address or phone number.
I had to dig around the internet to figure out more about what this program really is, and for more information about its founder…
Who Is Shawn Moore?
Shawn Moore, a Utah man, used to be a high-end resort property salesman. He was earning a lot of money, but everything vanished quickly. The owner of the resort he was attempting to sell vacationers on was charged with securities charges, and that was the end of the line.
Due to the loss of his source of income, he failed to make his mortgage payment for six straight months. He was finally evicted from his home. Soon after, he lost his cars too.
Shawn had no money in the bank and was deeply in debt…until he saw an ad for a real estate conference. He decided to go to see what it was all about.
He then hired a coach, who assisted him by providing excellent suggestions on short term rentals and vacation rentals.
Shawn quickly developed a profitable vacation rental portfolio.
Shawn Moore Vs. Shawn H. Moore
Hopefully I can save some of you some time if you happened to come across another Utah man named Shawn Moore who happened to run a real estate business…
This other man, named Shawn H. Moore, was convicted of working in a Ponzi scheme for a company named “VesCor”.
After much digging, I managed to find a booking photo of the man convicted – and this is clearly a different guy.
I personally think it would be smart for Vodyssey’s Shawn Moore to impose his own middle initial for clarity.
What’s Inside Vodyssey?
It turns out that if you complete the form on the website, Shawn will send you an automatic email explaining why you need to view the training video about the real estate market.
After watching it, you are invited to schedule a conversation with him to investigate the offer further. Surprisingly, he will actually be the one with whom you will speak.
Also, Shawn repeatedly claims that there is nothing for sale here, so you should make that call. However, this is obviously a lie – unless he’s the first real estate educator who doesn’t want to get paid for his work.
The major objective of the call is undoubtedly to persuade you to pay for something expensive. Expensive doesn’t necessarily mean something is bad – it just means there needs to be value behind it. It’s hard to tell if something has value if we aren’t given any insight before paying.

While searching for info about this program, I stumbled upon defending his teachings on another website:
“We do help people build portfolios of profitable short term vacation rentals by focusing on the 3 major phases of ownership: Acquisition, Management & Marketing. To many of your points on this thread, what we teach is not rocket science and you can definitely figure this out on your own. There are so many people doing an amazing job and BP is a great resource of information.”
Frankly, that’s a pretty cool way to put things. While I still think there are stronger alternatives out there, Shawn admitting that “you could definitely figure this out on your own” is an honorable thing to mention.
The General Idea
As seen in the infographic above for Moore’s old program, he is going to teach you the basics:
- work on your ads – likely Facebook
- have a landing page for your properties
- offer a discount
- bring up the booking opportunity
- follow up
- guests book your spots
- you retain some of them as repeat customers
The biggest downside to renting out any kind of physical property is that people seem to be showing less and less respect for others in today’s society.
I’ve heard countless stories of people’s rental units being totally destroyed, leaving terrible cleanup for the landlord (you!). I’m talking everything from feces to blood being scattered around the place…nasty work.
As I said, there are stronger alternatives in the real estate space – specifically digital– but let’s see what some of Vodyssey’s consumers have to say.

Is Vodyssey A Scam?
So, is Vodyssey a scam?
Not technically.
You can make money with this program, but it’s definitely not as easy as Shawn Moore makes it sound.
