Tomorrows Filmmakers Review (2023 Update): Is It Worth It?

By: Joel & Josiah

Tomorrow’s Filmmaker is an cinema education website founded by Justus McCranie. People have said they’ve combined Tomorrow’s Filmmaker with real-life experience and had success through their wide array of training videos.

But what exactly does it all cover? And how much does all this cost, anyway?

Let’s dive in and find out.

Disclaimer:
This Tomorrow's Filmmakers review has been thoroughly researched with information and testimonials that are available to anyone in the public. Any conclusions drawn by myself are opinions.
Constant churning of new content
Wide variety of different classes and training

Why Listen To Us?

My name is Josiah, and this is my Dad, Joel.

Together, we make up the team here at Scamrisk.

If you’ll let me bother you for two minutes, I’d like to quickly explain why I’m even here writing this review.

In early 2020, I had just graduated from college & had no real career prospects.

I knew I was destined for something more, but I had no clue how I was going to make it happen.

I had this sinking feeling in my gut all the time… like the “big man upstairs” had accidentally given me the version of life where I’d be mediocre forever, instead of the one where I was, ya know – happy & fulfilled.

Anyway…

I had fiddled around with some different online businesses in college:

Some random MLMs, a bit of affiliate marketing, a (failed) dropshipping store or two, all the usual suspects.

Even my dad had been involved in MLMs back in the day… selling knives & other random nonsense people (probably) didn’t need.

All I really wanted was to find something that was going to actually work for me.

Maybe those things had worked for others, but for me it all turned up a fat “0” in the bank account department.

So I searched! And searched… and searched… and searched…

And eventually, I somehow stumbled upon a program that promised to help me build an income online (read about it here if you’re curious).

I didn’t really want to be “rich”.

The thought of making a reliable $5K per month & not having to worry about clocking in to a 9-to-5 ever again was all I needed.

Sure, there were people in the program doing high-6 and low-7 figures per year… but that wasn’t what I was out for.

I just wanted to provide freedom for myself, and if I was lucky, take my family along for the ride.

Fast forward a few days and a few phone calls & I was enrolled!

Here’s the first “money making website” I put up:

I built that site in 2020, and it still makes me $1,500 per month. It’s a basic 5 page website I built based on a template the program provides.

The best part to me? My dad and I get to do it all together!

So between the:

  1. Ease of reaching $5-$10K per month in income online
  2. Straightforward-ness of the system to do it
  3. Fact that I get to do it w/ my family

Is why I recommend local lead generation as my #1 business model for making money online.

Sure, it takes some work and dedication – but anyone that tells you that there’s a business out there that requires no work is selling you a lemon.

I’m not saying you need to sign up for the same program I did, but I would definitely recommend giving the business model a peek!

Contents

This economy already has people worried for their wallet – whether it’s the price of groceries, used cars skyrocketing in value, or being priced out of homes (with a potential impending collapse), financial uncertainty is aplenty.

This goes double for filmmakers. Any independent film artist understands that investors are more nervous than ever to put their money into movies, especially with the crypto/stock markets being more volatile than ever.

Some folks think making movies is all glitz and glamor, that you make it happen in a month or two and then spend the rest of the year on the beach…

Living The Beach Lifestyle

So what’s the answer? Everyone knows you can’t take the art out of an artist…but we also have to build a life for ourselves. Well, I did stumble onto something the other day that I’m going to let you in on when we’re done talking about Tomorrow’s Filmmakers.

At the end of this review, you’ll see the exact system many others have used to build their own internet marketing business to over $40,000 a month in passive income.

passive residual income

Filmmaking is a great hobby, but this system enables you to build the funding base that truly allows you to expand your potential with a professional-tier budget. You’d be your own financier, calling all the shots.

Sounds pretty cool, huh?

But first, let’s dig into these guys and see what their academy is all about.

What Is Tomorrow’s Filmmakers?

What Is Tomorrows Filmmakers

Tomorrows Filmmakers is an online course on filmmaking.

Like many others in the field of filmmaking, this program covers every aspect of the craft in great detail: for example, how to set up your video equipment, use a camera, and edit video.

Basically, you’ll learn everything from pre-production through post-production in this course.

But it’s the focus on the Christian life that sets Tomorrow’s Filmmakers apart from other existing filmmaking businesses.

This means that mentors reinforce Christian ideals and how they might be applied to the filmmaking industry at various times in the course (and life in general).

In addition, they provide tutorials for a variety of situations in which videography is required. They will give you everything you need to know about creating high-quality films for any purpose, from weddings to commercials to music videos and everything in between.

Tomorrow’s Filmmakers worth seems fairly decent from the outside looking in. If you want to be a “YouTuber” or someone who makes any kind of film on the internet, you’ll need to know the basics.

However, you must keep in mind that producing your own video content is just one part of the whole. Another critical consideration is how you want to monetize your films.

Justus says that his Tomorrow’s Filmmakers services and products will not teach you how to start up a business opportunity but are rather centered on enhancing your skills when it comes to filmmaking.

He also said that the only way for you to earn money from this course is by truly working hard for it and persevering. He is sharing the strategies he used to become successful in the industry.

At the end of the day, your potential, skills, and talents are what will carry you to success.

Moreover, he mentions that this is no way near to earning you any post-secondary school benefits – Tomorrows Filmmakers will apparently not provide you with the education that can serve as a substitute for what universities can offer.

Personally, I think that’s a pretty silly thing to say with the way schools have fallen apart lately. And one would imagine that the whole point of taking a course like this would be to avoid paying six figures for a piece of paper…but hey, it’s an honest opinion.

Once you sign up with them, you will receive access to their private community Facebook group, downloads for their free personal mentoring, 1,000+ training hours, 1,000 video lessons, and more from mentors like Dallas Jenkins and Tad Butler.

Who Is Justus McCranie?

How Tomorrows Filmmakers Started

On Sunday, May 22, 2011, while many Americans were hurrying out of church to get a good table for brunch, one rural congregation stayed seated.

Those who stayed were about to assist Justus McCranie, a 17-year-old filmmaker from Gastonia, North Carolina. He had recruited the help of the Church Without Walls’ 75-member congregation for a key sequence in a short film he was working on.

Justus has come a long way since then – from a little boy fascinated by his family’s home video recorder, to a self-taught filmmaker producing for national audiences in less than 10 years.

At the tender age of eight, he was already captivated by filmmaking and all things linked to it. An outdated VHS camera was all he needed to get him started in the world of home video production.

When he was 14, that he realized he had a true calling in filmmaking and that he intended to pursue it for the rest of his life. Consequently, he began his own full-time film business at the age of 16 and saw it flourish.

He’s also done missionary work as a videographer for several missionary organizations, and he’s traveled to different nations throughout the world.

One day, Justus realized there was no one-stop site for Christian filmmakers to develop all the skills – even for an existing filmmaking business – so Justus founded the Tomorrow’s Filmmakers training program. Through this online training, he aimed to fill that gap.

Proverbs 31, Discovery Channel, Honda, Chick-Fil-A, and the Discovery Channel have all worked with Justus during the last 15 years. He has produced several short films, including one that became a semi-finalist in three Christian film festivals.

It’s his aim to teach the next generation everything he knows about the filmmaking life.

The Early Days

How Tomorrows Filmmakers Started

McCranie’s videos appeared on Discovery Channel and Proverbs 31 Ministries when he was still a teenager. He was often approached by companies offering him thousands of dollars in compensation for filming commercials.

However, McCranie found himself struggling to balance his work as a young cameraman with his desire to serve the church.

After a few weeks of wrestling with ideas, McCranie accepted the Lord’s call to teach Christian cinematography – essentially an online program with special videos that reference Christianity.

He put his successful secular videography company on hold to start the Tomorrow’s Filmmakers program with a main focus on the Christian principles, something he wanted to exist when he was growing up.

McCranie and his wife, Stephanie, manage the content. His role is to produce the content, such as the weekly instructional films, while hers is to manage the website and answer student inquiries.

In addition to McCranie, other Christian movie professionals, including actors, makeup artists, and stunt performers, are hired to conduct lessons through the site.

As far as we are aware, the only online Christian film academy currently available is Tomorrow’s Filmmakers.

Justus McCranie’s faith in the transformative power of videos is one of the reasons he feels driven to train the next generation of Christian filmmakers.

When it comes to movies, Justus argues that they aren’t only for entertainment purposes – they should be utilized to spread the word of God.

90 Day Filmmaker

90 Day Filmmaker

In addition to Tomorrow’s Filmmakers, the 90 Day Filmmaker is a course offered by the same folks that created it. For the most part, Tomorrow’s Filmmakers teaches you the technical aspects of filmmaking, while 90 Day Filmmaker focuses on the financial aspects of the filmmaking business.

However, they do offer a single course called the Full-time Filmmaker, which covers both the business and the art of filmmaking.

I’m confident enough after seeing several videos from both online courses that you can succeed with either one if you stick to what they teach – it really boils down to the personal taste of which instructor and whose videos you find more enjoyable.

There is an online film course called 90 Day Filmmaker that claims to take you from square one to working as a full-time filmmaker in only 90 days. Filmmakers who want to create a full-time career out of making movies will be taught by Justus McCranie, the same guy who introduced you to Tomorrow’s Filmmakers.

The following are some of the advantages of being a member of the 90 Day Filmmaker:

  • Confidence in how much to price your clients
  • Mastery of the needed skills to run a business
  • Ongoing support from other filmmakers and the instructors
  • Clarity on what steps you need to take to make progress towards becoming a full-time filmmaker

If you think you can tackle the challenge of learning how to produce a movie in under 90 days, this is the online film course for you! During these 90 days, you’ll learn how to lay the groundwork for your business, get a head start on your demo reel, create a stunning website, and set up a system for generating a steady flow of new business leads.

Here’s a summary of what you’ll get out of this course:

  • Landing Your First Clients
  • Business Foundations
  • Learn and Book Wedding Films
  • Building Your Online Presence & Reel
  • Learn and Book a Local Business
  • Learn and Book Real Estate Films
  • Prepare Emails To Send to Potential Clients
  • Create Your Website
  • Book, Even More Clients
  • In-Depth Look at Booking Clients
  • Learn How to Grow Your Business to $5000+ a Month
  • Learn How to Secure Higher-Paying Clients

If you are an owner of business that involves purchasing cameras, gears, and lenses, then you know how important all these tools are to a filmmaker (and how expensive they are), but you also know that those are nothing compared to knowing the path that can lead you to success in the industry. And that is what this 90 Day Filmmaker course is all about.

Upon signing up for this course, you will receive lifetime access to 90 Day Filmmaker, Tomorrow’s Filmmakers, and $1,500 exclusive student discounts.

What Does The Internet Have To Say?

What Does The Internet Have To Say

Let’s hear the voice of the people:

“If you can get it for the $100 price, it’s worth it. I got it a year or two ago and learned a lot about basic videography. Some of the lessons are getting a bit dated, but most of it is pretty good.

Just be aware that the guy selling it is a “Christian filmmaker” so there is a fair amount of God stuff thrown in, although not enough to distract too much. Yes there are many good videos on YT, but if you want something that is fairly comprehensive on the whole subject, it’s well worth $100.”

If they can convince an atheist on Reddit, that’s not bad. Let’s read one more.

“I bought the course when I was first starting and if you’re an absolute noobie, I’d say it was well worth it especially for $97. It’s essentially the walmart version of Full Time Filmmaker. I hate college and I hate reading so those were never an option to me.

If you’re the type to consume content over YouTube, then I think Tomorrow’s Filmmakers will give you slightly more comprehensive material than finding free content on YouTube. I started my Journey 2 years ago and now I make close to 6 figures doing videography full time so I’d say every one’s path to success is different. The course will guide you through that path BUT at the end of the day, it’s going to come down to your mindset, mentality, dedication to the craft, practice, and experience.”

Is Tomorrow’s Filmmakers A Scam?

Scam or Legit

So, is Tomorrow’s Filmmakers a scam? Not technically.

It is entirely possible to build a profitable, successful filmmaking business…but it’s a heckuva lot more difficult and complex than the course makes it out to be.

For one, have you ever tried getting funding for a movie? A few thousand can be a little tricky, but if you want to venture into the 500k-3 million range (still considered low-budget overall), you’ll notice that it’s not so easy to get folks to open their pocketbooks.

It seems like Tomorrow’s Filmmakers is a decent way to teach you some technical skills without spending even more at college – but you need some business acumen if you really wanna make it big in movie-making.

So, while this program is far from a scam, it isn’t going to get you paid. And that might derail the amount of time you can set down for your artistic pursuits…

And there are other ways of doing business that can provide you enough passive income that allows you to even fund your own films!

Our #1 pick proves this.

Because unlike Tomorrow’s Filmmakers, it actually provides real proof of real success from real people as recently as a few days ago.

How Much Does Tomorrow’s Filmmakers Cost?

tomorrows filmmakers cost

So many of these courses will show graphics like above, and the $97 would usually be an entry free before they hit you with thousands of dollars in upsells…

…but this one looks a little different – every consumer seems to verify you only ever pay $97 one-time for a lifetime subscription.

Good on this company for living up to Christian values and not being deceptive.

Tomorrow’s Filmmakers Refund Policy

tomorrows filmmakers refund policy

It looks like they have a rock-solid 30-day refund policy, and I haven’t seen anyone online complaining they didn’t receive one – heck, I haven’t even seen anyone asking for their money bacl.

Are There Alternatives To Tomorrow’s Filmmakers?

alternatives

Yes, there are plenty of other business models to choose from if you want to pursue this path.  Here are just a few:

What Is My Top Recommendation For Making Money In 2024?

Digital Real Estate

Our review team has come across a program that creative types should seriously consider if they want to keep pursuing their artistic dreams:

Real estate.

Although it’s not real estate in the traditional sense, it’s all digital – you can put all the work in from the comfort of your own home.

Yup, Digital Leasing!

Where Tomorrow’s Filmmakers falls short is in profitability and practicality.

Here’s what the cycle of an artist’s life usually goes like:

  • Find the passion in your teens, experiment
  • You try to keep the dream alive in your twenties, maybe see a little success, but at some point the bills pile up and you start to think about your future…
  • Your thirties are usually where dreams go to die if you’re not making real money off them – you tell yourself you’ll get back to it all one day…but it all starts fading away.

Either that, or you’re willing to grind by, just barely making ends meet…

…but it doesn’t have to be like this. Don’t lose your dream to the system – beat the system!

winning big

With this Digital Leasing program, you can have the ability to completely walk away from manual labor!

Sound too good to be true? Well, you do have to put in some good work at the beginning. If anyone tells you you’re going to “get rich and never work for it”…they’re selling you snake oil.

This is no false promise.

You put in some work early, and then the money becomes residual over time and you can start focusing on your artistic endeavors while the cash stacks up!

All you have to do is build a plug-and-play website (the coaches help guide you there), get it to rank on web searches, then rent out the sites to local businesses for a monthly fee.

This works for literally any business – the world is your oyster,

How do you get paid and how much?

Scott Lead Gen

The local businesses pay you for generating leads for them – and the income depends on how many leads you generate, the industry of the business, and how many sites you have rented out.

Ever paid a dentist bill? They charge a pretty penny to their patients, and you could get a cut of that for bringing in some new customers through your website rental.

See why they call it Digital Leasing now?

The great thing is how easy it is to scale. You don’t have to answer the phone…all you have to do is get the phone to ring.

Phone calls suck anyway – might as well send them to a local business.

Remember Tomorrow’s Filmmakers and all the small profit margins?

This Digital Leasing actually allows you to collect that without bartending on the side until 3am every night.

Truly passive income – freeing up your life so you can make some movies, record some music, or finally finish that painting you’ve been working on.

The Digital Leasing training program takes making money online to a whole other level.

The owner of the program walks you through how to build and rank a site hand-in-hand.

Once the training program is completed you will also have access to a Facebook group where you can ask questions and be in a community with others on the same journey as you.

Is it as fun as making millions of dollars on film sets? Maybe not, but you can literally make millions in Digital Leasing – and that’s way more cash than most others in the film industry could ever hope to invest into their own projects.

Unlike so many filmmakers who you have to keep trading your time for money over and over…you can finally get on the financially free side of life.

Digital Leasing allows you to have passive income with your days being spent when and where you want to be…

…that might be a beautiful white-sand beach…a mountain-top cabin…or on your own film set.
