Skup Review: Is This E Commerce Business Really Going To Help Your Online Store? ([year] Update)

Introduction to Skup Reviews

I'm gonna take a wild and crazy guess that you saw a video or post advertising Skup somewhere out there on the World Wide Web - maybe Facebook? YouTube?

If you did, it's either because they think you're in the right demographic...or maybe you've been searching up things like "how to make money online", looking for that ticket to financial freedom.

And now the algorithm's got you all figured out.

However it happened, the reality is now you're sitting there, searching through Skup reviews, trying to figure out which article actually has some useful info. Heck, maybe you've even looked up some of their competition, like Ecom Degree University.

Well, I've got good news for ya: I've been digging into this stuff for a long time now, across all kinds of industries. eCommerce, digital marketing, real estate - you name it. Here's a dropshipping niche guide I worked on, for reference.

After all the writing hours I've logged, I've started to notice certain red lights and green lights when it comes to the "gurus" of the world who wanna sell you on a course. Sometimes they're great mentors, sometimes you're left hanging.

So I'm glad you're here - because as scary as the economy is, and as risky as some online programs can be...the good ones can change your life for the best.

I'll go through the best and worst parts of Skup, check out alternative programs, and figure out if selling jewelry online is really a great idea.

Now, let's jump in and see what's inside Skup!

DISCLAIMER:

This Skup review has been thoroughly researched with information and testimonials that are available to anyone in the public. Any conclusions drawn by myself are opinions.

PROS
  • People are buying online more than ever, meaning you theoretically have a growing audience.
  • People (mostly women) will always love jewelry, and that means demand should be there if you can provide the right setup.
  • There are some good reviews out there, which means that some students might be enjoying the course.
CONS
  • The downside to more people buying online is that more people are selling online, and that means you'll have a ton of competition.
  • A lot of people like to try on jewelry before they buy it, or at least see it in person...which means it may be trickier selling online.
  • There have been some bad reports about Skup's refund policy, which means you'd better be very confident before giving them your money.

Why Listen To Us

My name is Josiah, and this is my Dad, Joel.why listen us

Together, we make up the team here at Scamrisk.

If you’ll let me bother you for two minutes, I’d like to quickly explain why I’m even here writing this review.

In early 2020, I had just graduated from college & had no real career prospects.

I knew I was destined for something more, but I had no clue how I was going to make it happen.

I had this sinking feeling in my gut all the time… like the “big man upstairs” had accidentally given me the version of life where I’d be mediocre forever, instead of the one where I was, ya know – happy & fulfilled.

Anyway…

I had fiddled around with some different online businesses in college:

Some random MLMs, a bit of affiliate marketing, a (failed) dropshipping store or two, all the usual suspects.

Even my dad had been involved in MLMs back in the day… selling knives & other random nonsense people (probably) didn’t need.

All I really wanted was to find something that was going to actually work for me.

Maybe those things had worked for others, but for me it all turned up a fat “0” in the bank account department.

So I searched! And searched… and searched… and searched…

And eventually, I somehow stumbled upon a program that promised to help me build an income online (read about it here if you’re curious).

I didn’t really want to be “rich”.

The thought of making a reliable $5K per month & not having to worry about clocking in to a 9-to-5 ever again was all I needed.

Sure, there were people in the program doing high-6 and low-7 figures per year… but that wasn’t what I was out for.

I just wanted to provide freedom for myself, and if I was lucky, take my family along for the ride.

Fast forward a few days and a few phone calls & I was enrolled!

Here’s the first “money making website” I put up:

why listen us gif

I built that site in 2020, and it still makes me $1,500 per month. It’s a basic 5 page website I built based on a template the program provides.

The best part to me? My dad and I get to do it all together!

So between the:

  1. Ease of reaching $5-$10K per month in income online

  2. Straightforward-ness of the system to do it

  3. Fact that I get to do it w/ my family

Is why I recommend local lead generation as my #1 business model for making money online.

Sure, it takes some work and dedication – but anyone that tells you that there’s a business out there that requires no work is selling you a lemon.

I’m not saying you need to sign up for the same program I did, but I would definitely recommend giving the business model a peek!

TLDR - What's The Verdict On Skup?

i heart you ecommerce business

Skup is an eCommerce business founded by a couple of guys named Devin and Matt - Matt Schmitt and Devin Zander, to be specific. Their program offers a workshop along with some immersive 1-on-1 mentoring, but their main course is focused on print-on-demand.

They call it their "I Heart You" eCommerce business, which is a little cringey.

They figure that the most common path to eCommerce - buying cheap things in bulk from China and selling tons of them - doesn't have enough upside to really help business owners find that financial freedom they're looking for.

So, instead of going with high quantity, they want you to aim for high quality, and the higher price you can charge for it with their Jewelry Profits course.

Do I recommend Skup?

It's hard to say.

Are you good with cutesy little trinkets? Do you know how to sell a high-ticket item like jewelry?

If you answered yes, then you're off to a decent start...but even then, there is a ton of competition these days, and for every student Skup churns out, there's another piece of competition you'll have to fight against.

Think about it - if Skup trains thousands of students to go on Shopify and sell jewelry, then yours will absolutely have to stand out if you want to survive. It's not impossible...but I gotta think there are better ways.

Not to mention, even the best ecommerce business model will struggle if they don't have the right mentor behind it. I like these guys, and I see their appeal to younger audiences...but I don't think I'm too crazy for wondering just how much business experience they really have.

Personally, I stumbled onto a digital marketing company that seems to be changing the game lately. I might even call them "recession-proof", since they're basically just going out and getting new customers for businesses...can you see that ever going away? Yeah, me neither.

Anyway, it's called Digital Leasing, and their students seem pretty fired up about it from what I can tell.

Digital Leasing Legit

In the meantime, let's dig further into this Skup review.

Who Benefits From Devin Zander And His Program...And Who Should Move On?

AreaScoreDescription
Time Investment2/5Setting up a store shouldn't take long, but putting together a solid supply chain may take a while - and so can building up a reputation.
Level of Control2/5It sounds like you'll be forced to sell jewelry, without an option to expand elsewhere. At least you can choose how to customize the trinkets.
Ease of Implementation3/5Decent software should get your store up and running without much work, but PoD can be very tricky if you're not built for it.
Profit Potential2/5Technically there's a lot of room for profit with jewelry, but there are so many other stores out there that your prices may be undercut.

After years of digging up student results, I've noticed a funny pattern. Some students do great in some industries, but fail completely in others. And then sometimes people pick the best industry, but choose the wrong mentor.

I'll help clear up a few things real quick.

Skup might be for you if...

  1. You've done Print-On-Demand courses before (like with Rachel Rofe) but need more profits
  2. You are really into jewelry and little designs
  3. You wanna get into eCommerce but don't want to sell something boring

On the other hand, it probably doesn't make sense to join up if...

  1. You don't really have the "feminine touch" to identify the best jewelry items
  2. You are concerned about their questionable refund policy
  3. You aren't ready for the intense competition you'll be facing online

"I Heart You" eCommerce Business at a 1,000 FT View

whats inside skup

If you've done any business with Amazon FBA or a dropshipping business, then you're probably noticing a few similarities between those industries and what Skup has to offer,

Well, the guys running the program thinks that the world of Print on Demand has all the benefits you'd get from those other business models, without all the drawbacks.

Devin and Matt say that the nice thing about it is how you don't have to buy anything upfront before you sell it, kind of like a more expensive "made to order" burger.

I'll admit, this is a good aspect of print on demand. It saves you some money on storage, and you don't have to worry about over-stocking. It should be easier to start one of these businesses than Amazon FBA, for sure.

But is it the best way to run a business?

I'm not sure sure about that. For one, you have to make sure you have great supply chain management in place. Amazon can move things quickly because they have it ready to go, but with PoD you're already playing from behind.

You have to hope your customers are going to be okay with a longer wait than they are used to, and then you'd better be extra sure you won't be later than the timeline promised!

Another issue I've mentioned already is the over-saturation of the ecom business model in general, but even if you just focus on the jewelry/trinkets side of things, you gotta admit it's a tough sell.

There are already loads of people doing this all over Etsy, and Skup is just gonna send more and more students onto Shopify to become your rivals.

I'll just tell it like it is: there are more practical options (like Digital Leasing) that make a lot more sense when it comes to starting up an online business.

Instead of fighting it out with other businesses selling the exact same thing, your job just to draw in clients for local companies in your area. Not bad, right?

Who Are Matt Schmitt and Devin Zander?

matthew schmitt devin zander skup

Devin Zander founded Skup back in 2015, after struggling with what he felt other Shopify stores and courses had to offer.

Matthew Schmitt had been doing very well in the Print on Demand industry, and he liked what Devin had to say, so Devin made Matt his CEO - and the rest is history.

Since then, they claim to have done over $50 million in sales together. Not bad! At least with these guys, you know that you're getting help from people who have been there and hustled from the bottom.

These days, Devin lives with his wife and some animals down in Florida, while Matt and his family still call St. Louis home.

To be honest, they seem like decent guys, with fairly transparent info on their website. Even if they really don't have the best refund policy, they seem like they are far from the worst gurus out there.

How Much Does Skup Cost?

how much does skup cost

Skup has several offerings that appeal to different people working on different budgets.

Here are some of the things they offer:

  • Skup 4 Day Workshop - $9 upfront, but $297 total to learn some of the basics. This will basically be one big sales pitch to get you join the next level up...
  • Jewelry Profits - $1,750 for Skup's main Print on Demand course
  • Incubator - you have to get on a phone call with their sales team to see if you're worth special time with Matt and Devin...but this kind of thing will often cost you over $10,000
  • DFY Jewelry software - $37 per month, which adds up to $444 dollars over a year in addition to the other course fees
  • There are couple different themes for your Shopify store that'll set you back about $200 each

Beyond all that, it's expected you'll have to pour a lot of money into ads on social media, because it doesn't seem like they teach much SEO (organic leads).

Skup Refund Policy

Skup refund policy

Skup's refund policy is kinda weird.

For some programs, they offer a 30-day money back guarantee - as long as you check off a LOT of boxes. They specify that you have to complete all the modules up to week 4 (and they only release the modules weekly, so you can't ask for a refund until the final week.

They also say you have to "engage at least 4 times every week in the Facebook group" and put a certain amount of money into your store.

And then for other programs, there's no refunds at all - including the big Incubator, which will cost you the most.

On top of all that, we've seen certain reviews stating that the company lied over emails...but at the very least, they've made it clear that this is not an open-shut deal.

If you give Skup your money, you need to be very sure it's the right move for you.

Is Skup Legit?

YouTube"It might be a good product but getting on is frustrating"Source
reddit"I'm a part of HCOM/Skup 2.0 and the coaches are extremely responsive"Source
trustpilot"while very overhwhelming and confusing at times, for a newbie like me, I appreciate the additional resources"Source

At the end of the day, there are a lot of people trying to take your money on the internet, without providing much in return.

So, is Skup legit, or are Matt and Devin just a couple of scammers?

I think they are decent guys. I don't like their complicated refund policy, but maybe they have had bad experiences before and are just being safe. I don't know.

But other than that, they've got a slick website that is mostly transparent, and I give them credit for that.

And if you're really gonna do Print on Demand, then I think going high-ticket like this is the better way to go...but is this really your only option?

You're still going to run into a lot of issues with that industry that you do in Digital Leasing. Why give yourself the extra hassle?

Personal Opinion On Skup

skup print on demand review

I've been around the block when it comes to where to go right, and where you can go wrong with this kinda stuff.

So, how do you choose the right program?

  • Look for an experienced mentor
  • Make sure the guru has actually attained success within the industry
  • Figure out if it's really practical for you to make money this way

Skup isn't the worst deal out there, for sure.

In fact, how about a quick 3 things I like about them:

  1. Smooth website
  2. They don't waste time with cheap inventory
  3. Young and energetic gurus

...and, to be fair, 3 things I don't really like:

  1. It can be tricky selling jewelry online
  2. Etsy-type of stores already have this kind of stuff locked down; oversaturated
  3. Complicated refund policy

What's Inside Skup?

skup products

Alright, let's go a little deeper into what Skup really has to offer you:

4-Day Workshop

As you may have guessed, this is exactly like they describe it - it's a 4 day workshop.

The way this thing goes is it gets you a nice amount of info you could probably find for free on their YouTube page, but after sinking 300 bucks into it, you'll be more likely to spend "just a little more" on their main course, Jewelry Profits.

Jewelry Profits

This is the main course they try to sell over at Skup - not too expensive, not exactly cheap either.

The big issues I see with this one is when I see promises that you can create a store in 15 minutes, or that you'll see results super fast.

Of course, that all sounds good on the surface, and we'd love to be proven wrong...but if things are moving that fast, it usually means you're just getting a generic store that may struggle to stand out among your competition.

Incubator

This one sounds like the biggest and most immersive offer, and it'll almost certainly cost you more since you have to hop on a sales call to get the numbers.

But will it be worth it?

Well, getting up close with the head guys behind Skup does guarantee you'll get a better idea of how to best use their program - but if you notice, the wording does say "and other experts", so if Matt Schmitt's on vacation or doesn't feel like showing up, you may be out of luck.

The other detail to understand is that it says "90-day plan", so keep an eye out that you don't have to keep paying every 3 months to keep receiving what you paid for.

Of course, if they can really get your business up and making big bucks in 3 months, then you might not need to re-up.

Diamond

This one has said "coming soon" for a while now, so we'll see if it ever actually becomes a real thing.

I do like the name, it works with the whole jewelry sales idea. It'll also probably cost the price of a diamond or two to join, since they have taken out the "other experts" legal wording. In this course, you are guaranteed to hang out with CEO Matt Schmitt once every week for a year.

I'm wondering if the permanent "coming soon..." tag is because they're trying to fit in time to Matt's schedule, or if it's a sales tactic that'll be pushed on a phone call. Hard to say.

Instead of promising 6 figures in sales, Skup now says you can make 8 figures with this program...if it's true, that's great! But if they think this means you can make $10 million, they can basically use that to justify any price they charge you, just a heads up.

And finally, the "fully-automated" Done For You part of this is always attractive. After all, if you just basically give these guys an investment and sit back while the cash rolls in, that's a good deal, right?

Maybe.

The thing is, do you really think Devin and Matt are sitting around doing your work for you throughout the year? No. Any work that's done for you will cost you an arm and a leg, and it will be done by foreign workers with a poor grasp of English, typically without the best training.

Maybe that works for you, maybe it doesn't - but there are risks you have to weigh out before throwing all that money into something.

Frankly, if you're gonna invest like that, save some of it and try out lead generation instead. The top program in that industry isn't that expensive, so you can just use the extra cash for ads if you want, or better yet, you can use it to enjoy time with your friends and family.

Conclusion

Should you invest in Skup?

I wouldn't.

If you're really dead-set on being the greatest Print-On-Demand salesperson of all time, then you could do a LOT worse. These guys aren't scammers or anything, with decent reviews.

But I just don't get why you'd wanna start a Shopify store these days...it's not 2017, when those things still had a lot of room for growth. These days, the over-saturation is crazy - and you're competing with anyone on Etsy and Amazon selling the same things, and they might even sell them cheaper.

And that means that you'd have to either lower your prices and miss out on profits, or somehow raise the quality of your own inventory.

Instead, make things easier on yourself. Choose an industry and a mentor that'll help get you that true financial freedom you've been waiting for.

It's like I always say, there's always another way...

What's My #1 Way To Make Money in 2024?

Digital Leasing

I have spent years researching, reviewing, and vetting dozens of business models and thousands of programs.

While there may be no “perfect business,” the research IS conclusive:

Digital Leasing is the #1 online business model for those just starting out.

Whether you’ve never made a dollar online or been in this space for a while but never really “made it,” Digital Leasing is for you.

Why?

1) It’s Flexible: got an hour a day? You can do this. Ready to drop everything else and dive in full-time? You can do this. Yes, the more time you put in, the faster you see results. But even with a little time each day, you can move the needle in a Digital Leasing business.

And because this system is so flexible, you don’t have to constantly be working to make more money. It’s called PASSIVE INCOME because if you stop working, the money doesn’t.

Imagine taking 3 months off to just tour around Europe, rent a cabin in the woods to write a book, hike the Appalachian Trail, or live on the beach and surf all day.

This is only possible if you have an income stream that’s not tied to your time.

2) You Own & Control EVERYTHING: With Skup's Print on Demand, you don’t really own anything. You have limited control over the products you sell - they're basically gonna force you to sell jewelry, and you won't have a ton of options if you want to do otherwise.

Does that sound like you're really your own boss?

With Digital Leasing, you own the assets, which means you have all the power and all the control.

3) Little To No Startup Costs: It’s possible to get into Digital Leasing with zero dollars upfront. Because, using the strategies outlined in this program, you can get a client to pay you BEFORE spending a penny out of your own pocket...even before you do any work.

Even without getting paid in advance, you can have your first Digital Rental Property up, running, and generating profits for less than $100.

4) No Inventory: Alright, so Skup doesn’t make you buy the products and fill your garage with them anymore (unlike the good ol’ days), but you’re still in a physical products business.

And physical products always have physical limitations. Even if you don’t have to manage the inventory, you still have to deal with supply chain shortages that cause major delays.

This is especially true with Made-To-Order jewelry, because you won't have custom items just sitting around.

Imagine finally landing your first customer with Print on Demand and losing them after one sale because they had to wait 6 weeks to get their order...and then they leave bad reviews, scaring off all future business. Sometimes, that's all it takes to end your reputation.

With Digital Leasing, a 100% online business, you never even have to think about that risk.

5) Easy To Duplicate: Ok, here’s the best part: once you have your first Digital Rental Property up and running, you can literally DOUBLE your income with a few clicks, a couple of keystrokes, and a single phone call (and you don’t actually need the phone call). Nothing like Print on Demand.

Remember: each Digital Rental Property is worth $500 to $2,000 monthly in semi-passive income (over 95% profit). Every time you decide to create another one and increase your income, it gets easier.

Because you have more knowledge, more experience, more results, and more momentum.

If you wanted to double your income with Devin and Matt's program, you’d probably need to double the number of hours you spend working, double the orders, and double the budget you're spending on ads. Because, again, this program doesn’t scale.

6) Make Money Helping Real People: With Digital Leasing, you’re actually helping people by solving your clients’ biggest problem:

Small, local businesses need more customers, and with Digital Leasing, you are unleashing a flood of happy, paying customers for these businesses.

You make money by helping them make money.

Not a big, faceless corporation either...a small business owner who’s using that money to put food on the table for their family, start a college fund for their kids, or take care of a sick parent.

Once you see how Digital Leasing makes a real impact in the lives of real people, you’ll sleep like a baby with a big smile on your face.

Now, the choice is yours. You could continue browsing, looking at opportunities like Skup, which could one day make you money.

You could continue researching, never making a decision.

OR, you could take a look inside, consider what you really want, and join a program that makes your dreams a reality. At the same time, joining a community of over 2,000 successful students that are living life on their own terms, thanks to Digital Leasing.

A consistent, reliable, semi-passive stream of income that doesn’t depend on you or your time to keep producing profits.

All while genuinely helping real people who are grateful and happy to pay for it.

If this sounds more like what you want out of life (or if you just want some nice side income), click here to learn more about Digital Leasing.
