"I trained in Silva back in 1997. Back then, it was presented in the BLS (Basic Life System, I think?) 2 day format. It used to be presented in a 4 day format. Since then, they have changed the course up and updated it somewhat and now it's 2 2-day workshops.

I would read the book by Jose Silva (The Silva Mind Control Method) to get a real idea of what's going on. They changed the name from "mind control" because people always get confused/suspicious and though it was about controlling other people -- when it's really about controlling your own mind.

The basic concept is learning to do active meditation (or "Western" meditation as they term it sometimes) rather than passive meditation (clearing the mind to a void). Active meditation uses the meditative level for problem solving. The real basic goal is that you learn how to put yourself into an alpha-dominant state and stay aware and alert. You do a little training for Theta level as well (although, in the newer format, I believe this is expanded somewhat from the course I took).

The first part of the class was learning how to use the Alpha Level to do problem solving and self-programming. The second part is about visualization and tuning into intuition/psychic things (including doing "case readings" on other people -- which was the very last part of the class -- which some people chuckle about, some hate, and some love).

I will freely say that when I took it, they are still using some bad science, but you can just ignore that and it doesn't change the techniques or function of anything. They still talk about using more than 10% of your brain (in the not so correct "get the other 90%" versus the correct "use more of than you currently are" sense). They also talk about being completely in the a brain state (Alpha, Theta) rather than you just increasing the dominance of that band. This is all part of the introductory lecture portion anyway.

If the class is the same, the layout is basically:

1. class introduction
2. learn to find Alpha level
3. discuss a new technique/skill/tool
4. go to "Level" while teacher reads the whole description to you and you practice along
5. go back to 3) until done with techniques.

For the later stuff, there is some group practice time as well.

I think with ALL things class related -- some people will excel at it, some other won't. Don't follow Skepdic. It's a very biased website and it's just the opinion of one guy who picked whatever links he found against the topic being discussed (although, he's fairly neural with Silva)."

I was told by the Mindvalley representative that I would join a class which was starting immediately. Once my payment processed, nothing was uploaded to my account. I have reached out via email, what'****, and a direct phone call to one of their salespeople trying to sell a 'business coaching' platform, but have received only replies that seem auto-generated by bots or people who sound amicable enough, but do not possess basic reading comprehension. I keep being told my issue will be sent to management, or 'the team' is working on it, or 'someone will be back with me within ***** hours' and I continue having to initiate contact-each time, having to state the facts of my case over and over again.

We are now almost into April, with still no start date for this program for which I have paid in full. I do not want anything to do with this company or this program, and I am at wit's end dealing with talking to walls and bots and helpless 'customer support' 'teams'. My money has been stolen with absolutely nothing to show for it. This is not just a consumer issue, this is 100% fraud and absolutely 100% criminal."
