TLDR – What’s The Verdict On Setter Certification Program?
Richard Yu’s Setter Certification Program is something you don’t necessarily see as often as a course about affiliate marketing, or an MLM program for example.
But even though it’s a less popular ways to make money, the job might be one of the more important aspects of a company.
Basically, Richard Yu teaches his students about how to “mine prospects” for companies online, following up and helping those people settle on a time and date where they can have a call with a sales team.
Without the appointment setter, this kind of online community that Yu is building could never exist.
That said, seem to be mixed reviews online about the program, and I do have some questions about the price tag…among other things.
For example, I do think it can be a bit of a red flag when you see huge promises like “how I can make you 100k per month without doing any hard work!!”
That’s super hard to pull off. Even if you got a sale a day every month (and that’s REALLY good), you’d be looking at more of a 5-6 thousand dollars per month. 100k is pretty much off the table.
Unrealistic standards are just not my thing. If you’ve ever made a hundred grand, then you know it at least takes SOME hard work at the beginning to make sure the foundation of your business is solid.
Oh, and if you don’t schedule enough appointments? Most gurus will fire you without hesitation.
If you’re really after some financial freedom with some major upside, then I don’t think sitting around clicking time and dates are really gonna do it for ya.
Instead, you have to give Digital Leasing a shot. It’s a spin-off of the local lead generation business model, where you just bring in customers to local business owners, and they keep stacking cash in your hand every month! It’s recession-proof, too…since, ya know, everyone needs customers.
Their students seem extremely passionate about what they’re doing – not just getting by, but creating their own future.
Now, if you’d like to hear more about my Setter Certification Program review, then let’s get back to it.
Who Benefits From Setting Appointments…And Who Is It Wrong For?
Area | Score | Description |
---|---|---|
Time Investment | 3/5 | Doesn’t take too long to figure out how to set a date/time. |
Level of Control | 1/5 | Dependent on the sales team for your income. |
Ease of Implementation | 3/5 | Fairly easy to do once you get going. |
Profit Potential | 1/5 | Especially with the high cost of the course, it’s hard to stack cash here. |
The crazy thing about the internet is that there’s just so many different things out there. Sometimes you find a really inspirational guru, but then you find the business model sucks.
Other times, you think you’ve got the best way to make money…and then the guru is way too boring to invest in.
There are tons of programs hyping themselves up as the best out there, but choosing the wrong one could change your life for all the wrong reasons.
Richard Yu’s program might be for you if…
- You can handle the same thing day-in, day-out for years
- You have the skills to break through heavy saturation
- You’ve tried some other unique courses before (like with Loan Broker Network)
On the other hand, it probably doesn’t make sense to join up if…
- You’d like something with more stability AND upside
- Setting appointments all day sounds way too boring
- You have concerns about the complaints Yu has received over the years
Setter Certification Program At A 1,000 FT View
The appointment-setting business model isn’t exactly too hard to explain, but I’ll give it my best shot.
Are you ready? Here we go:
You set appointments.
Shocking, right?! But seriously, it is a critical aspect of generating leads and sales, so it’s not something to be overlooked. Kind of like secretary work, where you have to be there to answer the phones and direct clients to the right people. It’s not the most exciting job, but without it, everything falls apart.
When a client is clicking around on a sales funnel, often they’ll provide a phone number or email to see more info – and that’s where you come in. You follow up via email, or sometimes even DM’s on social media, and figure out what makes this person tick.
The job does require some decent “people skills“, as well as the ability to make a soft sell. You’re not gonna be pushing any dollar signs or anything concrete, which makes your job easier than a salesperson, but you will have to gently nudge them in that direction.
Now, you may want to be wary as these jobs are often commission-based.
While that can be cool if the program you’re working for charges a lot of money like Richard Yu, even then you have to remember that a bunch of other people are getting their cuts too. The guru, the sales people, etc.
The downside is that if your leads don’t make sales, you don’t make money…and you’ll eventually get fired.
To be honest, this kind of industry has the worst of both worlds for me: it’s kind of basic and boring, but also not stable at all and oversaturated.
“And for that reason, I’m out.”
There’s just a ton of other options out there for folks looking to get into making big money online, that and I’m a little confused why you’d settle on something like this course.
Digital Leasing provides that high-upside, high-stability combo that you’re probably looking for in all honesty. Think about it, you probably wanna provide some good money for your family, but you also wanna make sure you’re spending time with them more often right?
Life is short, so you wanna make sure you’re not wasting it on the things that don’t matter. A strong start in the local lead generation game can get you where you need to be – check it out!
Who Is Richard Yu?
Richard Yu is an internet guru who has a bit of a confusing presence online. For example, he seems to have abandoned Facebook since 2022, but he actively posts on Instagram to this day.
He also professes to be a Christian and all sorts of benevolent philosophy, but then there are a lot of reviews out there about how he’s a money-hungry scammer!
While it’s can be challenging to figure out the truth, one thing is for sure: he’s made himself a bunch of money over the years through things like online consulting and coaching up students in different ways.
His umbrella company seems to be Impact Clients, which is overall a pretty mysterious thing since that link just leads you to a white page that doesn’t even tell you what he’s selling (it’s appointment-setting).
He got his start in UCLA (University of California, Los Angeles), surprisingly graduating with a bachelor’s in biology in 2020. It seems like he was interested in the medical world for a while, servicing as an emergency medical guy as well as an intern for a fitness company.
It seems that not too long after graduation, however, Yu decided to become a full-time social media influencer and online guru.
He like he tries to generate leads from IG and YouTube, primarily.
How Much Does This Setter Certification Program Cost?
Honestly, I was a little shocked when I heard about the costs of this program.
It appears the Setter Certification Program cost is about $8,000, while apparently the “next level” costs around $40,000…
This just seems like an insane amount of investment into something like appointment setting – and the bigger the expense here, the harder it will be to profit from it long-term.
Richard Yu’s Refund Policy
Remember those negative reviews I mentioned earlier? Well, it turns out a lot of them reference a sketchy refund policy, where the company will try to stretch out the process so that you’re not longer eligible to get your money back.
As you can see in the screenshot above, this can be a hellish experience.
You should prepare to say goodbye to your money if you decide to invest in Yu’s course.
Personal Opinion On The Setter Certification Program
Some programs have the right business model locked down, but their coaches suck. Other programs have decent coaches, but the business model just doesn’t have a pot of gold at the end of the rainbow.
So…how do we find the right course for you?
- Make sure the guru has been doing it for a long time
- Think about what you’d actually be doing, and picture yourself doing it 10 years from now
- Consider how saturated the industry is with other competitors
While appointment setting is a decent way to make money, it’s not the best
But to be fair, here’s a quick 3 things I like about Yu’s course:
- Appointments need to be set, so you will have jobs available
- Richard seems like a nice, motivational guy
- Some of the reviews are nice
…and, in all fairness, here are 3 things I don’t really like:
- Lots of competition for these kinds of jobs
- Pretty expensive course
- Really sketchy refund policy

“Setter Certification Program scam” is one of the top search results for Yu’s program, which can obviously be a little concerning…
…but does that mean he’s running a scam?
It’s hard to say.
You could argue that people are just trying to be safe before putting their money into this thing, which makes a lot of sense. That’s probably why a lot of readers come to read my blog posts, after all!
But a “scam” is a heavy word, so I like to break it down to its definition: taking money from people after making big promises, and then delivering on none of it.
If I’m being totally honest, I really struggle to see value in Yu’s course. The stability and upside are both low, the costs are super high, and a lot of reviews paint him as a hypocritical dude.
But let’s just focus on the business model: you’re gonna be taking 100 calls a day, right? And maybe 5 people DON’T hang up on your or get annoyed? Well, out of those 5, you might get lucky and close 1 sale…
…so, you’re a call center agent, basically.
But back to the big question: does he qualify as a scammer?
I think you could find an argument that he doesn’t fit the technical definition. Apparently he is known to hold multiple weekly sessions that give you all the tools you need to land a high paying job, so he is holding up his end of the bargain as an online coach if that is true.
You’ll be getting some kind of education when it comes to appointment setting, so it’s not technically a scam.
But is that what you really wanna settle for? Not “technically” a scam?
I think you should aim higher and go with something like Digital Leasing, instead. They offer you the education in the world of digital marketing, something that is exploding with popularity and offers you the chance to actually take control of your life – to be your own boss, instead of a secretary.
What’s Inside This Setter Certification Program?
This course is notoriously short on information. Like I mentioned earlier, the landing page is just a blank white screen with vague promises on it.
That said, I did do some digging, and it seems like the course is just one big “masterclass“, meaning you may not actually get a structured module-by-module breakdown of how to be an appointment setter.
It is nice that they offer a private mastermind group, but take a closer look at the image above – that’s either a photoshopped event, or the students really aren’t paying attention to Richard Yu speaking.
So, you’ll probably get:
- Group coaching
- Private community
- Some one-on-one with other coaches
Conclusion Of My Richard Yu Review
So, should you dive all-in with appointment setting?
Nah.
There’s just too many better options out there, ones with real financial opportunity!
Digital Leasing takes those failed promises and actually gets the job done.
All you need to do is connect local business owners with new customers, and they’ll happily pay you to keep the momentum going. It’s a scalable model with strong earning potential and consistent demand.
Who knows, maybe you’ll even work from the beach one day…
What’s My #1 Way To Make Money In 2025?
I have spent years researching, reviewing, and vetting dozens of business models and thousands of programs.
While there may be no “perfect business”, the research IS conclusive:
Digital Leasing is the #1 online business model for those just starting out.
Whether you’ve never made a dollar online, or you’ve been in this space for a while but never really “made it,” Digital Leasing is for you.
Why?
1) It’s Flexible: got an hour a day? You can do this. Ready to drop everything else and dive in full time? You can do this. Yes, the more time you put in, the faster you see results. But even with a little time each day, you can move the needle in a Digital Leasing business.
And because this system is so flexible, you don’t have to constantly be working to make more money. It’s called PASSIVE INCOME because if you stop working, the money doesn’t.
Imagine taking 3 months off to just tour around Europe, rent a cabin in the woods to write a book, hike the Appalachian Trail, or live on the beach and surf all day.
This is only possible if you have an income stream that’s not tied to your time.
2) You Own & Control EVERYTHING: With Richard Yu’s program, you don’t really own anything.
You’re just a cog in the wheel, living on commission, hoping the sales team does a good job.
With Digital Leasing (a passive income stream), you own all the assets, which means you have all the power and all the control.
3) Little To No Startup Costs: It’s possible to start with little to no upfront costs. Because, using the strategies outlined in this program, you can potentially get a client to pay you BEFORE spending a penny out of your own pocket.
Even without getting paid in advance, you can have your first Digital Rental Property up, running, and generating profits for less than $100
4) Easy To Duplicate: Once your first Digital Rental Property is up and running, increasing your income becomes more manageable. With the right strategies and consistent effort, you can scale your earnings over time.
With this setter certification program, you’d need to book more calls to increase your income, and commission isn’t guaranteed.
Each Digital Rental Property has the potential to generate semi-passive income, typically ranging from a few hundred to a couple of thousand dollars per month, with relatively high profit margins. As you gain more knowledge, experience, and results, expanding your portfolio can become more efficient.
5) Make Money Helping Real People: This part is what makes it all worth it. With Digital Leasing, you’re actually helping people by solving your clients’ biggest problem:
Small, local businesses need more customers, and with Digital Leasing, you are unleashing a flood of happy, paying customers for these businesses.
Richard Yu provides none of the stability that comes with Digital Leasing, and basically no upside, either. Are setters important? Yup, but they are replaceable…
…it’s a side hustle, not a main income source.
You just have less freedom with Richard Yu, and might have to find another job to make ends meet.
Isn’t that why you came here in the first place – to find ONE career path to make life better?
With Digital Leasing, you make money by helping businesses make money.
Not a big, faceless corporation either…a small business owner who’s using that money to put food on the table for their family, start a college fund for their kids, or take care of a sick parent.
Once you see how Digital Leasing makes a real impact in the lives of real people, you’ll sleep like a baby with a big smile on your face.
Now, the choice is yours. You could continue browsing, looking at opportunities like the Setter Certification Program, which could one day make you money.
You could continue researching, never making a decision.
OR, you could take a look inside, consider what you really want, and join a program that makes your dreams a reality. At the same time, joining a community of over 2,000 successful students that are living life on their own terms thanks to Digital Leasing.
A consistent, reliable, semi-passive stream of income that doesn’t depend on you or your time to keep producing profits.
All while genuinely helping real people who are grateful and happy to pay for it.
