So there is an obvious disparity between eBay and Etsy. It was like comparing apples to oranges: selling random daily products that buyers purchase online for convenience or generic t-shirts at a higher-than-average price.

Her evidence was multiple tests. One test was to relist a top-selling product from a popular Etsy shop with the identical title, photographs, and tags to see how it fared.
This was done to prove that Etsy SEO is not a deciding factor in Etsy search results. Despite the initial Etsy shop listing, the item did not display on the first page of her search query.
She had additional tests, and when she made a sale, her rating and sales skyrocketed. She then hired someone to purchase her wares to test her “theory.” Soon after, numerous Etsy “gurus” in YouTube and Facebook groups made Youtube videos telling people not to pay others to buy their items.
Deactivation and blacklisting might result. So if you have many businesses on Etsy, it might shut them all down. This includes your IP address, SSN, EIN, and bank/payment information.
Renae didn’t exactly encourage this. This was just about testing, and she wasn’t urging anybody to do anything. But the whole thing was just a little dishonest.
