American Professional football player, Patrick Lavon Mahomes II was born on September 17th, 1995, in Texas. Pat Mahomes and Randi Martin are proud parents of Mahomes.
As a baseball player, he attended Whitehouse High School in Smith County, Texas, where he began as a top prospect and was seen as a possible heir apparent to his father, who had been ranked as high as 25th in 1992.
Second-team All-Big 12 honors were awarded to Mahomes during his time at Texas Tech. He was selected by the Kansas City Chiefs in the first round of the 2017 NFL Draft. In 2016, against Oklahoma, he established NCAA records for for single-game yards passing with 734 and single-game yards total offense with 819 in the same game against Oklahoma in 2016.
In 2018, Mahomes took over as the Chiefs’ starting quarterback. For the first three career games of his NFL career, he established NFL records for the most touchdown passes thrown, the most touchdowns thrown in the first two games of a season, and the youngest quarterback to throw six touchdowns in a game. When the Chiefs won the AFC Championship in January 2020, Patrick and the squad made their first Super Bowl victory for 50 years.
Analysts and scouts predicted he’d go in the first or second round pick when he graduated from college. At the trials, he threw throws at a speed of 60mph, which tied him for third place in the NFL record books for the fastest pass. Going into the Super Bowl he had two years of his rookie deal remaining. He became eligible for an extension as soon as the Super Bowl ended.
The Chiefs selected him in the first round, making him the first quarterback they’ve selected in the first round since 1983.
On July 20, 2017, Patrick Mahomes signed a four-year contract for $16.42 million, including a signing bonus of $10.08 million.
Mahomes played a key role in the New York Giants’ comeback victory against the Los Angeles Chargers to start the year. The AFC selected him offensive player of the week for his efforts in the game for aiding the Chiefs to a third straight AFC West championship by throwing for over 5,000 yards in a season, making NFL history.
Several honors were bestowed to Mahomes as a result of his outstanding play in 2018. Following his MVP season, Mahomes began earning endorsements from many companies.
