My Business Venture Franchise Review: Can They Really Boost Your Business? ([year] Update)

My Business Venture (MBV) is a "technology service company" that claims they can show you how to run your own web store and grow it into a successful business.

Apparently, these guys build robust websites, shopping carts, credit card processing, secure payment gateways, marketing campaigns, and customized website packages and logos for online, home-based, and mail-order business owners.

In other words, they run an all-in-one dropshipping/e-commerce platform.

There are typically two ways this kind of wide-umbrella company functions: they're either really good at everything and super convenient, or they spread themselves too thin and offer nothing of substance.

Let’s find out which one MBV is.

DISCLAIMER:

This My Business Venture review has been thoroughly researched with information and testimonials that are available to anyone in the public. Any conclusions drawn by myself are opinions.

PROS
  • E-commerce has succeeded at some points in the past
  • Might be able to make some money
CONS
  • Expensive startup fees
  • eCommerce is getting harder - Amazon removes pages randomly
  • So many better options with less risk

Why Listen To Us

My name is Josiah, and this is my Dad, Joel.why listen us

Together, we make up the team here at Scamrisk.

If you’ll let me bother you for two minutes, I’d like to quickly explain why I’m even here writing this review.

In early 2020, I had just graduated from college & had no real career prospects.

I knew I was destined for something more, but I had no clue how I was going to make it happen.

I had this sinking feeling in my gut all the time… like the “big man upstairs” had accidentally given me the version of life where I’d be mediocre forever, instead of the one where I was, ya know – happy & fulfilled.

Anyway…

I had fiddled around with some different online businesses in college:

Some random MLMs, a bit of affiliate marketing, a (failed) dropshipping store or two, all the usual suspects.

Even my dad had been involved in MLMs back in the day… selling knives & other random nonsense people (probably) didn’t need.

All I really wanted was to find something that was going to actually work for me.

Maybe those things had worked for others, but for me it all turned up a fat “0” in the bank account department.

So I searched! And searched… and searched… and searched…

And eventually, I somehow stumbled upon a program that promised to help me build an income online (read about it here if you’re curious).

I didn’t really want to be “rich”.

The thought of making a reliable $5K per month & not having to worry about clocking in to a 9-to-5 ever again was all I needed.

Sure, there were people in the program doing high-6 and low-7 figures per year… but that wasn’t what I was out for.

I just wanted to provide freedom for myself, and if I was lucky, take my family along for the ride.

Fast forward a few days and a few phone calls & I was enrolled!

Here’s the first “money making website” I put up:

why listen us gif

I built that site in 2020, and it still makes me $1,500 per month. It’s a basic 5 page website I built based on a template the program provides.

The best part to me? My dad and I get to do it all together!

So between the:

  1. Ease of reaching $5-$10K per month in income online

  2. Straightforward-ness of the system to do it

  3. Fact that I get to do it w/ my family

Is why I recommend local lead generation as my #1 business model for making money online.

Sure, it takes some work and dedication – but anyone that tells you that there’s a business out there that requires no work is selling you a lemon.

I’m not saying you need to sign up for the same program I did, but I would definitely recommend giving the business model a peek!

My Business Venture isn’t too different from most e-Commerce platforms.

Sure, their marketing makes some great promise (that you’ve probably heard before), but at the end of the day, no magic bullet overcomes the massive pitfalls of this business model.

Let’s get something clear:

There is NOTHING passive about what they are offering, no matter how well most program creators sell the dream.

If you want that travel-the-world-making-money-while-you-sleep-laptop-lifestyle, eCommerce isn’t for you.

Living The Beach Lifestyle

To run a successful eCommerce business, you need to be constantly on the lookout for new products.

Scouring the internet for hot trends and trying to find the next fidget spinner will take hours out of your day.

Not to mention, it’s not enough to just have the hot new product…

You also need to get the customers.

That means ads…

Lots and lots of ads…

Testing, tweaking, targeting, spending thousands if not tens of thousands of dollars before breaking even.

Not to mention, Facebook hates dropshipping, meaning one of your top traffic sources could shut you down at any time.

All of this leads to a very stressful life, not a lot of money, and a lot of time wasted.

Time that could be better spent so you can actually live the life you want.

Now, what if there was a way you could build a passive income stream that’s actually passive?

An income stream that doesn’t require:

  • Physical Products
  • Low Margins
  • Long Wait Times
  • Angry Customers
  • Thousands of dollars testing different ad campaigns

An income stream that brings in consistent revenues every single month (from a couple thousand dollars to well over $10,000)?

An income stream you could actually build in your spare time, and grow as large or as small as you want to, without having to spend hours a day running ads, researching products, and trying not to get banned by whatever platforms you’re using?

If that sounds like something you’d be interested in, check out Digital Leasing.

Still Getting Paid

This is nothing like eCommerce, and that’s probably a good thing.

However, if you’d still like to know more about My Business Venture, keep reading.

What Is My Business Venture (MBV)?

My Business Venture Review what is it

My Business Venture is a nationwide technology service company with “more than 25 years of experience.”

You'd think after all that time they'd come up with a less-cheesy ad than the one pictured above.

As mentioned in the introduction, they chiefly operate as a platform for eCommerce pages. They offer services like strategic marketing campaigns to entrepreneurs operating successful businesses, or even folks just getting started.

Hosting, websites, products, and coaching are just a few of the services they provide.

For those who want to start an online business from the ground up, My Business Venture seems to be a decent resource. People who shop online are often looking to buy a variety of goods.

In case you’ve been living under a rock, I’ll explain the eCommerce industry to you:

Instead of buying shoes at a physical retail outlet, many people now make purchases online. As a result, there are no cashiers or employees to deal with, and everything is done digitally.

Many of the sites used include Amazon, Wal-Mart, eBay, Etsy, etc.

A lot of these sites have begun cracking down on dropshippers, meaning they can and will remove your page at random. Not a safe investment in my opinion.

Starting up an eCommerce business may appear like a easy win, but according to a recent study, only 2% of new e-commerce business owners make a profit. Not great!

Be that as it may, My Business Venture offers a wide range of services to help you overcome the odds stacked against you.

Let’s look at what MBV has to offer.

My Business Venture Offerings

my business venture scam or legit

My Business Venture makes ownership of your online store simple and cost-effective, according to their website.

Turnkey online stores are the primary product of this company – which means that they handle the majority of the technical aspects of your web store for you.

That is to say, they will sell pre-built websites that are theoretically ready to receive customers and generate revenue. In addition to do-it-yourself websites, My Business Venture provides web hosting, marketing, and even credit card processing.

MBV’s ready-to-use inventory is another feature of its service portfolio.

This database has over 14,000 products in various categories, such as automobiles and electronics. It also includes products for the bathroom, sports equipment, and beauty products.

One drawback to the My Business Venture platform’s services is the same as one of their upsides: they do the work for you.

Yup. Convenience can be like a double-edged sword in some ways.

On one hand, it’s a good thing because it allows you to make money even faster. On the other hand, you won’t learn anything about starting and running a business, which could prove problematic in the long run.

The MBV business platform is also not always reliable. You must know these skills on your own if you want to succeed in eCommerce in the long run, or to differentiate from other entrepreneurs who pay MBV to do the work for them. That’s how I see it.

For example, most of the time these "done for you" stores are designed and maintained by foreign workers who don't cost much and don't have the best level of expertise.

It also means the stores will often have an assembly line feel to them, leading to many of these pages looking the same as your competition.

Not the best idea, in my opinion.

Who Is My Business Venture For?

It seems like MVB’s intended audience consists of those who do not yet have their own business, but wish to do so quickly and easily without the need to learn how to do so from scratch.

My Business Venture is geared toward people who want to run a franchise, but lessen the work it takes to get there.

That walks a bit too much of the "get rich quick without doing any work" issues that many of these programs run into.

However, MBV also offers a training program separately for those who wish to get more familiar with the world they are entering.

My Business Venture University

my business venture university

As you can see, there are different tiers available for their training courses depending on how much you'd like to invest, and how much learning you feel you need.

Keep in mind that this training program is priced in addition to whatever you'll be paying to use their other services after completing the training, unless you pay for a top-tier bundle.

Speaking of which...

How Much Does My Business Venture Cost?

cost dropshipping scam

As you’ll find in other My Business Venture reviews, this company is not the best choice if you’re looking for a more inexpensive option.

In my opinion, these bundles are far too expensive compared to those offered by some of their rivals. Of course, if the value is there - cost can be justified.

But it must be justified.

The fees for My Business Venture’s services can be found on their website.

Millennium Plan

  • $5995.00 One Time Payment
  • 5,000+ Product Superstore
  • Titanium Marketing Package
  • Lifetime Search Engine Submission
  • All Features from MBV Upgrade 1 & 2
  • Social Media Upgrade Package
  • Custom Logo Included
  • Professional E-Mail Package
  • Platinum Training Package with MBV University
  • Website Verification Program

As you can see, My Business Venture does not offer a one-size-fits-all pricing plan. A business dealer kit with more and substantial training and features is what they will give you instead.

This pricing system indicates that the Millennium package holds the best chance of success - which is concerning in that it means the first two methods could be inefficient in both time and resources.

Additionally, My Business Venture’s price is prohibitive to many, and there are no guarantees. You should know more about starting an online store before you spend a few thousand dollars.

Undoubtedly, doing the work yourself would save you a lot of money, but doing so would also consume more time. You'll have to weigh it out, I suppose.

You might want to also consider that eCommerce is on its way out, and to look for alternative online industries.

What’s Inside The MBV Program?

my business venture not legit scam dropshipping

A one-stop-shop for creating an eCommerce store is how My Business Venture pitches themselves.

Included are the following:

  • Personalizes eCommerce Enabled Website
  • 14,000 Top-Selling Products
  • Newsletter pages customer rewards and registration program
  • Back-End Administrative Customer Database Access
  • Custom Domain Name
  • 24 Hour Secure Hosting
  • Customer Merchant Account
  • 24 Hours US Based Support
  • Videos and Tutorials

My Business Venture has a some ideas to offer its members in the long run.

The jargon they use, such as “turnkey solutions,” seems silly and doesn't give you the big picture, in my opinion.

Building an online business isn’t as easy as it looks on their websites, nor is it a quick path to financial success.

Fortunately, some of Business Venture’s features are useful and helpful.

How To Get Started With My Business Venture?

There are some things you need to do in the beginning before you can use MBV.

  • Sign up and talk to a Program Manager. They will sell you on a program - likely aiming high-priced
  • You should choose the package that fits your budget the best.
  • Start designing a custom business.

My Business Venture Online Reviews

What Does The Internet Have To Say

I've heard about complaints regarding their business venue training, so let's see what's out there:

"Oof.

This is the oldest line in the book, and it's usually a red flag. Whether it's a business venture or a diet, this line is usually delivered by companies with low success rates that want to shift culpability to their users. Whenever you hear it, you should be instantly skeptical.

With that said...

I looked through their website, and they seem to be your standard all-in-one provider for online business tools. Website hosting, SEO help, etc.

I work in this industry, so please take what I'm about to say to heart.

These all-in-one companies profit from people who don't understand online marketing the same way meal delivery services profit from people who can't cook.

You can get absolutely everything they offer—the hosting, the merchant account, etc.—from a huge range of sources for a fraction of the cost. You can also develop everything they promise to advise you on—SEO, a social media plan, etc.—for the cost of a keyword lookup tool and a few hours a week spent learning learning how those things work.

Not only will the cost to you be an order of magnitude less if you put in the hours to learn these things yourself, but you'll have more control over your business and you'll be better at running it. Because honestly, I can't imagine developing a solid strategy without truly understanding the components.

And with all that said: they're just offering the tools. You still have to develop an entire business. If you're selling a physical product, you still have to figure out production and distribution. If you're doing affiliate marketing (which is very hard to score big on), you still have to research and find a profitable niche that might take years to nurture. If you're selling intangibles like guides or courses, you still have to put in a lot of time developing a well-researched, professional product that someone else hasn't already cornered the market on. It's very, very difficult to develop your niche if you don't concurrently understand the tools you'll be using to sell and promote it.

Here's what I suggest. Spend as much time as you can learning about:

-Email marketing

-Social media ads

-Social media marketing

-SEO

-Paid search

-Affiliate marketing

-Wordpress

-Web hosting/development/design

-CRMs

-CAN-SPAM and GDPR

-Markeging trends

There are endless tutorials on YouTube. If you want everything up front in a more curated and high production format, invest in a couple months of LinkedIn Learning and binge.

Once your knowledge level on these things has bumped up a level, go back and look at what this company offers with fresh eyes. Does it still look like a good deal?

Also: I didn't see any mention of them offering a CRM. A CRM will be absolutely essential to your success if you're marketing online, because at the end of the day, the number of high-quality leads you're able to generate and pursue is the core of your business. If you're not capturing your leads, you're not really doing much.

There are no quick and easy roads. Please don't throw your money at this until you've given my advice a try and researched these things to death. The actual depth and complexity of this pursuit will quickly become clear. And the knowledge you'll gain will be worth its weight in gold down the line, if you've got an entrepreneurial spirit.

Best of luck to you."

Frankly, that pretty much addresses my concerns right there. But let's try one more:

"Unfortunately, I realized of the mistake I made after spending about 5,000 with them. You just have three day cancellation, but you receive the website after that ,so how you could know if the website is good or not? Not fair at all. I have on of these websites, but I'm about to close it.

I did marketing by myself, then tried two guys to helped me, finally I worked with a Marketing Agency., and results were too poor too. It's hard because a lot of people are offering the same product through Ebayz, Amazon , their own websites, etc. I found that my"customized" website has the same text on other websites selling the same stuff, and very similar designs..at the end, I realize, that I do not need an intermediary to develop this business..too late..I know.

The magic word is dropshipping, you can google this word and you can find out how many providers are able through the web. And if still you want an online store you can use Bigcommerce, Shopify or other to buid your own website., Don't pay for basic courses because you can find really good information on You Tube, neither for videos that you can find on Fiverr at low prices.

Go to SBA to get informed about franchises, and ask for successful cases talk to owners and draw your own conclusions. Research a lot before wasting time and money because after paying you can figure out what could happen if you don't like the product or the service.."

Is My Business Venture A Scam?

Scam or Legit

So, is My Business Venture a scam?

Not technically. They are even accredited by the Better Business Bureau.

You can make money with this program, but it’s definitely not as easy as My Business Venture Team makes it sound.

There’s a ton of work to be done upfront, no real guarantee of success, and - most importantly - you need to do a ton of volume to make any real money.

Now, there’s nothing wrong with front-loading the work and making the money later.

But if you’re grinding it out for 3 months, $3-5k in the hole on ads (because that whole “get started with $5 a day” thing is total BS) and then your reward is 15% profit on a $12 product (which comes out to $1.80), it’s not really worth it.

What if, instead, you could do that same 3 months of work (in your spare time), and your reward was a $500 to $2,000 payment that came in every single month?

And what if you actually didn’t need to wait 3 months? What if you could get started today and have your first payment in a week?

And what if you could double it next week?

Well, that’s the power of Digital Leasing.

And, unlike eCommerce, you can legitimately do this from anywhere. It’s a true lifestyle business.

Your laptop and an internet connection is all you need.

Some of the most successful students in this program run their entire 6-figure businesses from:

  • A camper in the middle of the woods
  • A beach chair on the water in Mexico
  • A small villa in Greece

Are There Alternatives To My Business Venture?

Yes, there are plenty of Dropshipping programs and resources to choose from if you want to pursue this business model. Here are just a few:

What Is My Top Recommendation For Making Money Online In 2024?

Digital Leasing

Our review team has spent months researching, reviewing, and vetting dozens of business models and thousands of programs.

While there may be no “perfect business”, the research IS conclusive:

Digital Leasing is the #1 online business model for those just starting out.

Whether you’ve never made a dollar online, or you’ve been in this space for a while but never really “made it,” Digital Leasing is for you.

Why?

1) It’s Flexible: got an hour a day? You can do this. Ready to drop everything else and dive in full time? You can do this. Yes, the more time you put in, the faster you see results. But even with a little time each day, you can move the needle in a Digital Leasing business.

And because this system is so flexible, you don’t have to constantly be working to make more money. It’s called PASSIVE INCOME because if you stop working, the money doesn’t.

Imagine taking 3 months off to just tour around Europe, rent a cabin in the woods to write a book, hike the Appalachian Trail, or live on the beach and surf all day.

This is only possible if you have an income stream that’s not tied to your time.

TESTIMONIAL JUMP ALL IN

2) You Own & Control EVERYTHING: With dropshipping, you don’t really own anything. You have no control over the quality of products. You don’t even own the products because they go straight from the supplier to the customer.

Yes, if you’ve got a Shopify store, you technically own that. But if every ad platform suits you down, you’ve got a store with no customers. Which is literally worthless.

With Digital Leasing, you own the assets, which means you have all the power and all the control.

Feeling Blessed

3) Little To No Startup Costs: It’s possible to get into Digital Leasing with zero dollars upfront. Because, using the strategies outlined in this program, you can get a client to pay you BEFORE spending a penny out of your own pocket...even before you do any work.

Even without getting paid in advance, you can have your first Digital Rental Property up, running, and generating profits for less than $100.

Scott Lead Gen

4) No Inventory: Ok, so technically you don’t have to worry about inventory since you’re not filling up your garage or a warehouse with products.

But, you still have all the headaches of a physical products business.

Since most dropshipped products come from China, you already have a 2-3 week wait time from when a customer places an order.

But right now, with global supply chain issues, your customers would be lucky to get anything in less than a month.

Imagine finally landing your first customer after months of experimenting, and then getting hit with a refund request or chargeback because they had to wait 6 weeks to get their order.

With Digital Leasing, a 100% online business, you never even have to think about that risk.

TESTIMONIAL ANNA DONE DEAL

5) Easy To Duplicate: Ok, here’s the best part: once you have your first Digital Rental Property up and running, you can literally DOUBLE your income with a few clicks, a couple keystrokes, and a single phone call (and you don’t actually need the phone call).

Remember: each Digital Rental Property is worth $500 to $2,000 a month in semi-passive income (over 95% profit). Every time you decide to create another one and increase your income, it gets easier.

Because you have more knowledge, more experience, more results, and more momentum.

If you wanted to double your income with dropshipping, you’d have to double your inventory, your profit margins, OR your average order value. And, guaranteed that’s a lot harder than a few clicks and a few minutes of your life.

Lance Lead Gen

6) Make Money Helping Real People: This part is what makes it all worth it. 99.9% of the time, dropshipping provides no value to anyone but the seller.

In a lot of cases, it has a negative impact on the customer because of poor product quality and an overall bad experience (i.e. waiting 6 weeks to get your order).

And that makes it pretty hard to sleep at night.

But with Digital Leasing, you’re actually helping people by solving your clients’ biggest problem:

Small, local businesses need more customers, and with Digital Leasing, you are unleashing a flood of happy, paying customers for these businesses.

You make money by helping them make money.

Not a big, faceless corporation either...a small business owner who’s using that money to put food on the table for their family, start a college fund for their kids, or take care of a sick parent.

Once you see how Digital Leasing makes a real impact in the lives of real people, you’ll sleep like a baby with a big smile on your face.

BOSS OF MY FUTURE

Now, the choice is yours. You could continue browsing, looking at opportunities like My Business Venture which could one day make you money.

You could continue researching, never making a decision.

OR, you could take a look inside, consider what you really want, and join a program that makes your dreams a reality. At the same time, joining a community of over 2,000 successful students that are living life on their own terms thanks to Digital Leasing.

A consistent, reliable, semi-passive stream of income that doesn’t depend on you or your time to keep producing profits.

All while genuinely helping real people who are grateful and happy to pay for it.

If this sounds more like what you want out of life (or if you just want some nice side income), click here to learn more about Digital Leasing.
