About Flywheel WordPress Hosting
Flywheel is a managed WordPress hosting company that offers a wide range of features to make web designers’ and developers’ lives easier. These features are all wrapped up in an intuitive interface.
We’ll get into these features in detail later. But, for now, here’s a quick overview:
- Clients can create password-protected demo sites (free).
- This tool allows you to quickly build WordPress websites locally.
- WordPress website staging is fast and straightforward.
- Ability to save configurations of WordPress websites for reuse.
- Automated WordPress website backups and updates
- A user-friendly and intuitive control panel for website and account management.
- Flywheel can now be rebranded with the white label paid add-on.
Flywheel Hosting allows you to easily create private demo sites for your clients, where they can view the development and design work that you’ve done. Some of the features automate and streamline web hosting billing, which will make it easier for clients to hand over websites. This feature is something that web designers and developers will appreciate.
Key Flywheel WordPress Hosting Features
Before we go to the site load handling and speed test results, here’s our take on Flywheel‘s best features.
FlyWheel Hosting Cloud Platform
Flywheel now uses the Google Cloud Platform as part of its web hosting environment.
Flywheel has recently upgraded its hosting infrastructure and partnered with the Google Cloud Platform to make it a real cloud hosting provider. Flywheel customers have one of the most excellent benefits: the website’s resources can now scale almost immediately and without limitation. This allows for faster loading times and more stable hosting environments.
Create Free Demo WordPress Websites For Clients
Flywheel Hosting offers several unique and time-saving features that developers will love. For example, you can quickly create demo sites for clients without setting up a domain or making payments. Flywheel allows you to create a free WordPress demo site hosted on a Flywheel domain.
FlyWheel Hosting Local WordPress Installation Tool
Flywheel Local, a free tool, can be used to help you create local WordPress websites. After installing the software on your Mac/Windows computer, you will have a local WordPress environment. Flywheel Local will be a valuable tool for anyone who has ever had to set up or troubleshoot a local WordPress environment.
Flywheel Local is not just simple. It makes installing WordPress locally easier.
WordPress Website Staging
Flywheel Local also allows you to develop on a staging WordPress site. When you, your client, and your team are satisfied with your work, the site can be moved to the live hosting environment. For example, a staging site online is better than a local one if several people work on a site.
Once you have enabled staging, you can quickly transfer contents between staging and live environments.
Flywheel staging lets you push just the file or database changes. Flywheel allows you to avoid overwriting existing content while development is taking place. By making only the file changes, you can keep the site as it is.
Flywheel makes it easy to secure your staging site. This prevents unauthorized visitors from finding it or search engines from indexing it before it’s available for public consumption. WordPress website staging was available on all plans but not the entry-level. But, with the switch to cloud hosting, it is now available to all Flywheel customers.
A staging site is necessary if you want to improve your WordPress website editing skills or conduct theme and plugin testing.
WordPress Website Blueprints
Blueprints, a Flywheel feature that is geared towards developers, is another. Blueprints were created to make it easier to build WordPress websites faster. In addition, it allows you to save a theme and plugin configuration for a new site.
Flywheel blueprints let you save a WordPress site configuration to use as a starting point.
You can save time if you notice that every client website you create uses the same theme, essential collection of plugins, and has the same core pages. You can then use one of your blueprints for every new WordPress website project.
Each time you create a WordPress site, you can choose which Blueprint to follow.
Flywheel is a helpful tool that allows you to manage repetitive tasks such as editing the permalinks, setting up a backup schedule, creating contact pages, and other essential tasks.
Each account can have up to ten WordPress site Blueprints.
Flywheel Blueprints will save you time when building new websites. This is something that both agency workers and freelancers will benefit from. Flywheel Blueprints are currently not available for sharing between Flywheel account holders. However, it is being considered.
FlyWheel Account Collaborators
Flywheel sites also offer the option of adding collaborators, a valuable feature for designers and developers. For example, you can add collaborators to your Flywheel dashboard so that they can manage or work on the website at the hosting level.
Collaborators may be invited to manage WordPress sites through the Flywheel dashboard.
Flywheel makes it very simple to add a colleague. Simply click on the appropriate button for each site that you would like to collaborate. Flywheel will send the user an invitation to join the collaboration by entering their email address. Flywheel makes it easy to share secure access with clients if a team member performs tasks such as doing backups.
Multiple sites and users can be transferred into an Organization for better management.
Flywheel offers a feature called Organizations, which allows you and your team to manage all their sites from one place. You can create sites, access existing sites, view your team’s activities, and send bills through this portal if you are part of an agency. Flywheel makes it easy to create an Organization and transfer any existing plans. Or, with a brand new account, you can start from scratch.
Free WordPress Website Migrations
Flywheel’s free site migration policy is a great reason to consider Flywheel if you have a WordPress website or clients do.
Start by creating a Flywheel account. Then fill out the migration request form. The Flywheel migration team will create a copy of your WordPress website, which will then be copied to a Flywheel server. It takes approximately 24 hours. You can also pay $49 to have it done in eight working hours.
Flywheel provides free WordPress website migrations with all pricing plans.
Once you have viewed the Flywheel-hosted website and are satisfied, you can pick a plan before the site goes live. You can expect no website downtime due to the way this works.
Flywheel-free migration might be a good choice if your site is complex and you are worried about switching to a different host.
Flywheel Dashboard And User Experience
Flywheel hosting caters to developers and designers. As such, it shouldn’t surprise that their dashboard is stylish and modern. Instead, Flywheel takes interface design and user experiences to a whole new level.
While looks are not everything, if the cPanel software is used for low-cost hosting or worked with other managed WordPress web hosts, you will know that unintuitive account management can quickly lead to frustration.
Both the Flywheel dashboard and the user interface are very visually appealing.
Flywheel makes managing accounts and creating WordPress websites easy. Register for a Flywheel Account and click on the Create a New Site button. You can create a site and temporary domain names on the single-screen setup page. You can also assign an owner.
Flywheel dramatically simplifies the process of creating a WordPress website.
Blueprint can also be used to add a predefined website layout to your new site. However, you can still start from scratch with a new WordPress install. Everything is beautifully laid out and has a user-friendly design.
You can install WordPress from scratch or use one of your Blueprints.
Flywheel makes it easy to launch a WordPress site. The final step is the payment section. This is where you can select a hosting package and make a payment. Alternatively, you can go into demo mode and wait for your payment details to be entered before making your site live.
Flywheel also offers the possibility of adding your website to any existing hosting plans. As long as you have enough slots, you will have the ability to choose the server’s address where your site will reside. In addition, your new WordPress website is created once you have filled in all required information.
Flywheel Web Hosting Performance
Flywheel has a lot to offer to web developers and designers, and those looking for an easy-to-use WordPress hosting solution. But how does Flywheel perform when it comes to load times and site performance? Let’s find out.
Flywheel Loading Time Test Results
This part of the Flywheel review covers the performance monitoring results for two WordPress websites. Speed is an essential factor in evaluating web hosts.
The Pingdom service measured the speed of both sites every 30 minutes over seven days to determine the average loading speed for each site. One test site had a simple WordPress theme, and the other one had a more powerful theme. This gave us a better overall picture.
FlyWheel Seven-Day Speed Test Results With A Lightweight Theme
Twenty nineteen is the default WordPress theme activated when you install WordPress.
After installing WordPress, the Twenty Nineteen free theme will be activated automatically on all new WordPress websites. This lightweight theme is suitable for blogs and simple websites. Flywheel can provide the following loading times for this free theme or similar themes:
A blog post on a site using the default Twenty Nineteen theme had an average load time of 524 milliseconds.
With an average loading time of 524 milliseconds over the seven-day testing period, Flywheel are faster than some, but not all, of the managed WordPress hosts we’ve tested when it comes to hosting sites using lightweight themes.
For context, the test site from our WordPress.com Business hosting review using the same theme had an average load time of 603 milliseconds. However, the test sites from our WP Engine and Kinsta reviews, which were using the older Twenty Seventeen theme, had much faster average load times of 259 milliseconds and 307 milliseconds respectively.
FlyWheel Seven-Day Speed Test Results With A Multipurpose Theme
If you plan to create more than a blog or website, you might consider a feature-rich multipurpose theme like Avada. This theme is often available with multiple demos and has long feature lists. This can make your website load faster.
The homepage of the Flywheel test site was loaded in 1.83 seconds using the Avada theme.
The Avada demo homepage had a file size that was significantly larger than the Twenty Nineteen theme, and the loading time averaged 1.83 seconds.
The average site loading speed of Flywheel-hosted was fast, but it was slower than those of other managed WordPress hosts such as Kinsta (1.25 sec), WordPress.com Business plan (1.06 sec), and WordPress.com Engine (1.43 sec).
Because you might choose Avada as a multipurpose theme, but not one of the homepage demos for your site, we also tested how fast a blog post can load from the same website.
Aside from testing the Avada Agency demo homepage layout, we also tested a theme blog design.
The average load time for blog posts created using Avada was determined by recording the speed of each post every 30 minutes in seven days.
After seven consecutive days of testing, we found that the average load time for blog posts on the site with the Avada theme Agency Demo was 1.64 seconds.
Pingdom’s average load time was 1.64 seconds when loading a blog post using the Avada theme.
Compared to other managed WordPress hosting reviews we reviewed, the Flywheel-hosted site loaded in an average of 1.56 seconds. WP engine took 898 milliseconds.
FlyWheel Review Site Speed Tests Summary
Below is a summary of our Flywheel’s WordPress websites testing results and the pages we monitored.
Flywheel, overall, is not the fastest host that we have tested. Flywheel’s results are only a sampling, and no two WordPress websites will be the same. If you find Flywheel’s impressive features appealing, you might want to test them yourself. Flywheel also has some helpful information on site speed and testing that is well worth noting.
FlyWheel Load Impact Performance Testing
The above loading times were recorded on a test website that does not receive traffic. We also ran tests to see how Flywheel’s site performed when multiple users accessed it simultaneously. Finally, we used the load impact service to simulate 250 virtual users accessing the site simultaneously over a 5-minute period.
From one virtual user, more users were added to the site until there was a total of 250. The Load Impact service generated virtual users and tracked the loading times of test sites as they were loaded. The Load Impact testing was conducted using the multipurpose Avada WordPress theme and its Agency demo.
Load Impact’s graph below shows the number of virtual users (blue line) who accessed the site. The green line indicates the loading time.
The Flywheel test site was able to host 250 concurrent virtual users with no performance issues.
Flywheel’s test site was not affected by 250 virtual users accessing it simultaneously, as you can see in the above results. However, the Load Impact website has all the details.
These results are comparable to those from other reviews of managed WordPress hosts. This shows that Flywheel is an excellent option if your website handles large traffic volumes and sudden visitor spikes.
FlyWheel Uptime Test Results
Flywheel does not offer an uptime guarantee. However, there are provisions in place to protect your website from being unavailable for prolonged periods. For example, during the seven-day monitoring period with Pingdom, Flywheel’s two test websites didn’t experience any downtime.
During the entire monitoring period, neither of the test sites experienced downtime.
Flywheel Hosting Pricing Details
Flywheel has recently simplified pricing and hosting plans. There are now three plans available and one custom option.
FlyWheel pricing is quoted for customers who pay annually. Monthly fees will incur slightly higher costs.
- Starter: $23 per month for one WordPress installation, 25,000 monthly visitors, 5GB disk space and 50GB bandwidth.
- Freelance: $105 per month for ten WordPress installations, 100,000 monthly visits, and 20 GB disk space. 200 GB bandwidth.

As we’ve mentioned, all plans now include access to the Google Cloud Platform and staging.

- Visitors: $1 for every thousand additional monthly visitors (sites hosted at the Australian data center are charged $1.50 for every one thousand additional monthly visitors).
- Storage: $1 per GB above your limit
Flywheel has more information about overage fees.
Can You Make Money With FlyWheel Hosting?
Yes, You can!
In fact, FlyWheel has an Affiliate Marketing program that pays you a commission for every plan you set up.
There’s a lot that comes along with affiliate marketing that many people struggle with.
In fact, check out these Top 5 Reason Why Affiliate Marketers Fail.
Now, don’t get the wrong idea…
It’s not impossible to make money with affiliate marketing, but if you’re gonna put in the amount of grueling work to do this business (which, trust us, isn’t easy), you might as well bring in some REAL money while you’re learning the ropes.
The program that helped skyrocket many online businesses to over $40,000+ per month is so simple that making money really is like riding a bike.
Are There Any Alternatives To Flywheel Hosting?
There are certainly more than a few different hosting providers you can choose from. If Flywheel hosting isn’t what you’re looking check out these other providers:
Flywheel’s page loading times are not as fast as WP Engine or Kinsta, but are still pretty respectable, based on our tests.
Flywheel’s entry-level Starter plan ($23) is also less expensive than those hosted by WP Engine and Kinsta ($35 and $30, respectively). According to the Load Impact tests, sites hosted by Flywheel should also handle large volumes of traffic and spikes in visitors. Therefore, we should not overlook the 100% uptime that we achieved.
Flywheel‘s migration to the Google Cloud Platform and the subsequent upgrade of its hosting infrastructure seem to have paid off. Flywheel is a solid choice for managed WordPress cloud hosting starting at $30 per month.
Flywheel’s features and ease of use are what really set them apart, especially if they’re web designers or developers creating websites for clients.
Flywheel has done an outstanding job creating a user-friendly website hosting environment with many valuable features and has proven to be one of today’s leading managed WordPress hosting providers.
What Is Our #1 Recommendation For Making Money Online In 2022?
Our review team has spent months researching, reviewing, and vetting dozens of business models and thousands of programs.
While there may be no “perfect business”, the research IS conclusive:
Whether you’ve never made a dollar online, or you’ve been in this space for a while but never really “made it,” Digital Real Estate is for you.
1) It’s Flexible: got an hour a day? You can do this. Ready to drop everything else and dive in full time? You can do this. Yes, the more time you put in, the faster you see results. But even with a little time each day, you can move the needle in a Digital Real Estate business.
And because this system is so flexible, you don’t have to constantly be working to make more money. It’s called PASSIVE INCOME because if you stop working, the money doesn’t.
Imagine taking 3 months off to just tour around Europe, rent a cabin in the woods to write a book, hike the Appalachian Trail, or live on the beach and surf all day.
This is only possible if you have an income stream that’s not tied to your time.
2) You Own & Control EVERYTHING: With Affiliate Marketing, you don’t really own anything. You have no control over the quality of products. You don’t even own customers.
Look at the fine print for most affiliate agreements. At any point, the company can change your commission structure, reduce your profit margins, or kick you out entirely.
With Digital Real Estate, you own the assets, which means you have all the power and all the control.
3) Little To No Startup Costs: It’s possible to get into Digital Real Estate with zero dollars upfront. Because, using the strategies outlined in this program, you can get a client to pay you BEFORE spending a penny out of your own pocket…even before you do any work.
Even without getting paid in advance, you can have your first Digital Rental Property up, running, and generating profits for less than $100.
4) Easy To Duplicate: Ok, here’s the best part: once you have your first Digital Rental Property up and running, you can literally DOUBLE your income with a few clicks, a couple keystrokes, and a single phone call (and you don’t actually need the phone call).
Remember: each Digital Rental Property is worth $500 to $2,000 a month in semi-passive income (over 95% profit). Every time you decide to create another one and increase your income, it gets easier.
Because you have more knowledge, more experience, more results, and more momentum.
If you wanted to double your income with affiliate marketing, you’d have to double your traffic, double the average order size of each customer, OR double your commission rate. And, guaranteed that’s a lot harder than a few clicks and a few minutes of your life.
5) Make Money Helping Real People: This part is what makes it all worth it. With affiliate marketing, you’re selling the product with the best commission rate, NOT the one that’s going to improve the most people’s lives.
And that makes it pretty hard to sleep at night.
But with Digital Real Estate, you’re actually helping people by solving your clients’ biggest problem:
Small, local businesses need more customers, and with Digital Real Estate, you are unleashing a flood of happy, paying customers for these businesses.
You make money by helping them make money.
Not a big, faceless corporation either…a small business owner who’s using that money to put food on the table for their family, start a college fund for their kids, or take care of a sick parent.
Once you see how Digital Real Estate makes a real impact in the lives of real people, you’ll sleep like a baby with a big smile on your face.
Now, the choice is yours. You could continue browsing, looking at opportunities like FlyWheel which could one day make you money.
You could continue researching, never making a decision.
OR, you could take a look inside, consider what you really want, and join a program that makes your dreams a reality. At the same time, joining a community of over 2,000 successful students that are living life on their own terms thanks to Digital Real Estate.
A consistent, reliable, semi-passive stream of income that doesn’t depend on you or your time to keep producing profits.
All while genuinely helping real people who are grateful and happy to pay for it.
