The short answer would be: it depends.

For a start, e-commerce is obviously a proven method of making money online. There's a reason William is successful in selling people on the idea - Amazon (Williams's biggest seller target) is a huge website with plenty of traffic waiting to buy your products...in theory.

Think about it: if William trains thousands of students who all try to make it big selling spatulas on Amazon, then algorithm will absolutely pick up on that and flag some accounts. And remember, he's not the only e-commerce guru with these kind of ideas...

One of the major complaints we hear about Ecom Degree University is that while there's a lot of content in the free weekly webinar, there's actually not enough in the paid version.

Very strange.

In addition, his refund policy may not be as good as they claim.

Apparently you don't have to know much about Shopify, Aliexpress or dropshipping in general, so hopefully Rivera has some solid lessons on all that.

Because ecommerce takes a ton of time and energy and can spread you thin, your money is probably better off with a more focused, recession-proof skillset like the one this Digital Leasing company has been teaching its students for a while.

The Business Model

Ecommerce is another way of saying "selling things online". Specifically, in this instance, it uses websites like Amazon to sell products to consumers.

Ecom Degree University is something like an online e-commerce trade school, where they claim you can learn how to become an entrepreneur without spending much money.

This includes building up pages, finding the right supplier, buying inventory, and making distribution deals…apparently, all without spending any money.

EDU provides video and PDF training, Amazon Seller training, as well as a "Mastermind" chat and a private Facebook group.

He also says that you don't have to be too educated on dropshipping niches to figure things out.

The nice thing about ecommerce is that you don’t necessarily have to build anything until you get an order, and there’s no inventory to store, which saves you physical room and money.

One of the issues with this specific business model is that it is oversaturated. Because building an eCommerce brand has gone so mainstream, it might be challenging to get your new online business noticed by potential buyers when there are tens of thousands of other hustlers competing directly against you.

The competition is intense, and if you’re not passionate about your business, you’re unlikely to be prepared to commit the money and time required to succeed.

Selling on Amazon is a legitimate business concept, but it can be a real headache to keep Jeff Bezos' algorithm from removing your account. That's not a great investment of your time and money.

The founder of Ecom Degree University, William Rivera, has been at this for a while now.

He's an online entrepreneur who claims to have the secrets on how he earned $7.9 million through his business ventures.

Apparently, William used to work for $8 an hour, a far cry from the millions he says he's racked up by selling on Amazon. One of his favorite tricks is using paid ads, although Facebook does appear to have cracked down on this lately.

It seems to be a positive sign that he gives a lot of free info every week, possibly indicating that he actually cares about his students.

The Ecom Degree University price used to be $997, but has recently seen its cost jump up to $1,497. Curiously (as seen in the image above), both price points claimed that the real value of the course is $5,000.

So, is the price hike a result of inflation, or is Rivera just moving slowly toward the "true value" of his program?

Time will tell, but at least his free webinars can help you figure out whether or not there are stronger alternatives in the meantime.

Upsells?

It's hard to find any mention of upsells on the website or within many user reviews, but it does appear there has been upsells for live events that can cost upwards of $7,997!

What's Their Refund Policy?

As mentioned earlier in this review, their BBB page is full of red flags regarding the refund policy. While they seem to have a general 30-day money back guarantee, they really botched some cases - as you can see in the image above.

As you can see in the ratings above, there are some serious differences between Trustpilot and BBB's rating systems. According to Trustpilot, he's great and offers solid advice. According to BBB, he's misleading and doesn't honor refunds.

One of Trustpilot's biggest criticisms is that it's easy for a guru to incentivize their followers to leave fake, positive reviews...

...so, is it legit?

Will seems to know his way around ecommerce, and he could very well be a decent guru. Unfortunately, if he's hyper-focused on Amazon selling, then he's limiting his students' potential upside.

And why would you want to limit your upside?

You should probably keep looking, even in among other industries that can make you even more income online.

Digital Leasing is a lot more legit than any ecommerce course these days. I might consider selling on Amazon if accounts weren't always at risk of being banned. But with all the risks involved with establishing a sustainable e-Commerce business, I'd recommend looking elsewhere.

Personal Opinion On Ecom Degree University

My personal opinion? Well, first off: William needs to update his website, because there's no way he's still 20 years old after all these years. That said, he's probably still relatively young, and has done well from himself.

The number of strong Trustpilot reviews is through the roof, and a lot of them read very authentically - if they're fake, they're very good fake reviews.

Whether it's ecommerce, affiliate marketing, MLM, you name it...we've dug in and found out how to evaluate these programs.

So, how do we choose the right ecommerce course?

• Take time to see how long they've been doing this for
• Make sure they've actually been profitable
• Figure out if they have information beyond their free content, and have strategies to avoid your account getting banned

The first two points are critical in general, but the third really hits home with William Rivera's Ecom Degree University.

That said William's not the worst by any means. He's got a great track record, and seems to be willing to provide quality, free content for those not ready to fully invest.

What's Inside Ecom Degree University

On the EDU website, they tell you their program will deliver all the skills necessary to compete in the ecommerce world..."in 2020".

Considering all the reviews that are more recent, it seems this is an error on William Rivera's part, as the program appears to still be available for sale. Still, it may give you reason to wonder how updated the rest of the program is.

That said, they do boast over 600 members and say that Ecom Degree University has all the secrets that will deliver you the financial freedom you've always been after. It seems you'll not only get pushed into the world of Amazon selling, but you'll also get a crash course on how dropshipping works.
