Ecom Capital Review (Updated 2024): Is Sasha Karabut The Gateway to Success In Ecommerce?

By: Joel & Josiah
Ecom Capital Review

Hey there and welcome to my eCom Capital review! You’re probably here because you’ve been dealt a few failing cards in ecommerce but you’re not ready to give up yet.

That’s awesome and I’m glad you’re still working on breaking free from that 9-5!

We’ve spent countless hours reviewing ecommerce programs and gurus to help aspiring entrepreneurs make informed decisions. After extensive research putting together this eCom Capital review on founder Sasha Karabut, here’s an in-depth review of their offerings.

I’ve scoured the internet, read through countless reviews, and compiled everything into this simple and easy to absorb review. By the end of this breakdown, you’ll know if eCom Capital is:

1. A legitimate way to gain financial freedom.

2. A gateway to success in ecommerce.

3. The best way for you to achieve a more flexible lifestyle.

Let’s cut through the noise and hype to find out if this is a program worth investing in or one to avoid.

The eCom Capital team runs with their step-by-step video course called the eCommerce Accelerator. Spanning 6 weeks, it aims to take you from ecom newbie to expert across 3 pillars: education, community, and support. The video modules cover everything from niche and product research to financials, scaling strategies and more. It's comprehensive for an intro course and provides a solid base layer of ecom knowledge. Sasha tries to provide ongoing mentorship through weekly calls with experts. They also offer ad-hoc support with community messaging in private mastermind groups. In practice though, users complain of unreliable access to the mentor team. Response times are slow and scheduled calls are prone to cancellation.

Comprehensive introductory curriculum that truly can get you started with ecommerce if you’re prepared to apply yourself.
Various pricing tiers makes joining eCom Capital doable for different budgets.
Tight-knit community for networking with other people who have taken the course.
Video production value needs improvement and some of the methods taught in this program are outdated.
Unreliable access to expert coaching and lack of open dialogue with actual coaches is frustrating at times.
Heavy sales messaging can be off-putting and hard pressure sales during the sign up process can turn people away.

Why Listen To Us?

My name is Josiah, and this is my Dad, Joel.

Together, we make up the team here at Scamrisk.

If you’ll let me bother you for two minutes, I’d like to quickly explain why I’m even here writing this review.

In early 2020, I had just graduated from college & had no real career prospects.

I knew I was destined for something more, but I had no clue how I was going to make it happen.

I had this sinking feeling in my gut all the time… like the “big man upstairs” had accidentally given me the version of life where I’d be mediocre forever, instead of the one where I was, ya know – happy & fulfilled.

Anyway…

I had fiddled around with some different online businesses in college:

Some random MLMs, a bit of affiliate marketing, a (failed) dropshipping store or two, all the usual suspects.

Even my dad had been involved in MLMs back in the day… selling knives & other random nonsense people (probably) didn’t need.

All I really wanted was to find something that was going to actually work for me.

Maybe those things had worked for others, but for me it all turned up a fat “0” in the bank account department.

So I searched! And searched… and searched… and searched…

And eventually, I somehow stumbled upon a program that promised to help me build an income online (read about it here if you’re curious).

I didn’t really want to be “rich”.

The thought of making a reliable $5K per month & not having to worry about clocking in to a 9-to-5 ever again was all I needed.

Sure, there were people in the program doing high-6 and low-7 figures per year… but that wasn’t what I was out for.

I just wanted to provide freedom for myself, and if I was lucky, take my family along for the ride.

Fast forward a few days and a few phone calls & I was enrolled!

Here’s the first “money making website” I put up:

I built that site in 2020, and it still makes me $1,500 per month. It’s a basic 5 page website I built based on a template the program provides.

The best part to me? My dad and I get to do it all together!

So between the:

  1. Ease of reaching $5-$10K per month in income online
  2. Straightforward-ness of the system to do it
  3. Fact that I get to do it w/ my family

Is why I recommend local lead generation as my #1 business model for making money online.

Sure, it takes some work and dedication – but anyone that tells you that there’s a business out there that requires no work is selling you a lemon.

I’m not saying you need to sign up for the same program I did, but I would definitely recommend giving the business model a peek!

TLDR – What’s the Verdict on Ecom Capital? Go or No Go?

TLDR - What’s the Verdict on Ecom Capital? Go or No Go?

Should you whip out your wallet faster than Tai Lopez reads a self-help book? I say, maybe… but probably not.

eCom Capital makes big promises around achieving rapid ecommerce success. However, the execution has gaps that prevent it from being a definitive “yes” recommendation.

On one hand, the promise of earning beaches and Lambos passive income streams inspires. We all desire escaping the 9-5 rat race to enjoy family and hobbies more.

But, just like the corniest Shake Weight demo, something about the rapid results and sky-high income claims just smells fishy. Our gut knows true success takes more than a magic bullet solution.

Throughout the research for my eCom Capital review, I note the fact that the program does contain useful ecommerce education and low barrier of entry. This isn’t one of the most difficult business models to dive into.

But the good news ends there.

There are a lot of discrepancies in the reviews you find online. Some people are making $100,000 in their first 90-days while the other people are struggling to come up for air as they drown in ad costs and limited success.

How can some people have an incredibly positive experience and feel like they have all the tools necessary to build an ecommerce brand while others leave negative reviews and call it a get rich quick scheme?

Are the people having success really just that motivated and awesome? Or are the gurus stretching the truth a little?

We know there is always uncertainty with any business model and ecommerce is far from exempt.

View the eCom Capital course as your entry point into the world of ecommerce rather than a turnkey system promising unattainable outcomes. There is a winning concept here but a lot of programs promise success while neglecting the number of variables that come into play.

Expect to work harder than they claim, for longer than they claim, and spending more money along the way than they claim.

If you’re not sure whether or not ecommerce is right for you, a strong business model is Digital Leasing. It’s also reliable and entry-level, but it doesn’t require you to shop around for products and hope you get lucky.

But hey, you don’t have to take my word for it. You can keep reading to learn more about eCom Capital.

While the world of digital marketing is for everyone, certain characters are better cut out for various business models than others. Just like some people are better geared for high-ticket sales while some people do better behind a screen day trading

With eCom Capital, there are ideal candidates for this program and I want to shine a light on that so you can decide if you should dive right in or dip your toes in carefully.

Who Benefits Most From eCom Capital

The eCom Capital Accelerator course targets online business beginners looking to build a lucrative side hustle. Specifically, it attracts risk tolerant millennials and gen Z with interest in tech and entrepreneurship.

Are you fascinated by terms like:

  • Funnel building
  • CPC (cost per click)
  • Niche research
  • Customs law
  • Logistics

Or are you yawning? If so, this program probably isn’t for you.

But for aspiring digital nomads and location independent hustlers, that difficulty could signal opportunity.

Perhaps you’ve dabbled in dropshipping before but didn’t find much success. If so, eCom Capital’s emphasis on branding may offer a fresh perspective.

One thing I actually really like about the program is the focus on creating long-term wealth. There aren’t a lot of shortcuts here and no promises of “easy money.” Quick money yes but be prepared to grind.

This isn’t the 4 hour work week lifestyle sold by some gurus! Expect late nights spent optimizing funnels over fancy vacations, at least initially.

Who Might Want To Look Elsewhere

Single parents, retirees and other groups lacking discretionary time may struggle with eCom Capital’s intense curriculum. The flexibility pitch only applies once your business is off the ground.

Additionally, if you need reliable access to coaches, their spotty support record could disappoint. Consider a program like eCom Elites instead for accountability and always-on help.

Individuals turned off by hype claims around rapid success should also steer clear. Building any business realistically takes consistent effort over an extended timeframe. If you know that instinctively, this type of messaging will just irk you.

In fact, there is an incredibly valuable Reddit thread about this with people talking about how they fell for the “eCom Capital Scam.” (their words, not mine)

Founded in 2020 by Sasha Karabut, eCom Capital is an Australian based ecommerce business incubator. Their core offering is the eCommerce Accelerator, a modular video course and coaching program.

Pricing ranges from $3,800 to $18,800 depending on the package you choose. Expectations are set around hitting $10,000 monthly revenue within just 90 days.

Let’s be real, this ain’t cheap. Could it be a valuable investment? Sure, but it could also be a giant waste of money.

ecom capital on trustpilot

eCom Capital claims to have helped over 1,700 students start successful online stores. They boast an impressive 4.6 star average across 100+ Trustpilot reviews.

I have to admit, their Trustpilot page is interesting because it’s one of the only programs I’ve seen with such positive reviews. They have 134 reviews with 94% of them being 5-star.

Doesn’t exactly sound like a scam to me.

Ecom Business Model

Listen, I get why ecommerce seems so appealing nowadays. Just throw up a fancy Shopify storefront, run some targeted Facebook ads and voila – instant passive profits roll in!

With catchy slogans like “laptop lifestyle” and “be your own boss”, who wouldn’t fantasize about that kind of freedom and wealth? Ditching bosses to sell bikinis on the beach sure sounds nice!

But between you and me, the reality ain’t always so sunny. Turns out balancing supply chain logistics, managing returns and keeping fickle customers happy takes more grit than influencers let on. Margins get slim pretty quick too once you calculate all those platform fees and paid traffic costs.

And don’t even get me started on cybersecurity! Sure would hate seeing my beachfront dreams drowned by hackers or online payment fraud.

Ecommerce can work, it does work, and a lot of people are able to build a successful business with the help of the team at eCom Capital.

Just don’t buy into the crap that it’s easy money and that you can change your life in 30 days.

eCom Capital Cost

ecom capital cost

If we break down the eCom Capital cost, it varies from $3,800 to as much as $18,800 for the Mastermind Program.

For the basic package, all you get is access to the training and private community membership.

Upgrading the premium package gives you access to live calls, one-on-ones, and a specialized online store designed by their experts.

In my opinion, this is starting to seem like a “pay to play” situation. Those who can afford the premium package options get a done for you solution while everyone else gets left in the dust.

My Personal Take – Is There Actually an eCom Capital Scam Going On?

My Personal Take - Is There Actually an eCom Capital Scam Going On?

As someone with experience in ecommerce and has reviewed countless “get rich quick” programs, I’m innately skeptical of promises that seem too good to be true.

I have my own positive story for a lot of programs with negative ones to follow but there is no such thing as a magical rinse-and-repeat ecommerce business model.

While I don’t doubt eCom Capital’s positive intentions, their messaging does lean heavily on unrealistic hype.

Income expectations circling $100K yearly within 12 months and $10K per month within 90 days raises eyebrows faster than you can say “bait and switch.”

Implying it’s achievable for anyone willing to “take action” stretches credibility in my experience.

Getting from 0 to consistent $10,000+ monthly revenue in 90 days requires tremendous work ethic, existing capital and luck with timing. eCom Capital implies it’s near guaranteed following their system. For most people, that’s misleading at best if not an outright fairytale at worst.

That said, eCom Capital seems less scamy than certain dropshipping gurus for instance.

Founder Sasha Karabut comes across as genuine in his educational content at least. I believe the core program does attempt to set students up for eventual success.

My main gripe is with the lack of context provided around what sweat equity is realistically required. Beyond video modules, crucial work like sourcing reliable suppliers and optimizing funnels largely falls to students. That blood, sweat and tears component merits emphasis to balance the pitch.

These are things that require a little background. No one is going to come right off the street and start determining winning products, creating successful ads, and building out complex sales funnels.

It’s just not realistic.

So, is eCom Capital worth it for the average beginner looking to create location independence and financial freedom?

No, it’s not.

But, Digital Leasing could be that solution for you.

By renting digital assets to business owners, you can bag $2,000 contracts on a regular basis without having to:

  • Source products
  • Build funnels
  • Deal with customer service
  • Handle returns
  • …and many other aggrivating aspects of ecommerce

Plus, there’s no promise of ridiculous income right out of the gate. We’ll tell you that work is involved but if you apply yourself, you can make money with this program

What’s Inside The eCom Capital Program by Sasha Karabut

what's inside this ecom capital review

The eCom Capital bundle includes access to four core components:

  1. Six Week Video Course – Supposedly comprehensive modules spanning ecom topic including niche selection, branding, paid ads, analytics, operations and scaling strategies.
  2. Private Online Community – Closed Facebook group for networking and accountability with 1,700+ like-minded entrepreneurs.
  3. Limited Mentor Support – Weekly video calls with experts promised though reliability and access reviews are mixed in practice.
  4. One-on-One Live Calls ($$$) – If you can afford to shell out $18,800, you can also get access to a live call with the CEO each week and one-on-one ecommerce strategy sessions. They’ll even connect you wit their suppliers and relationships to help make product sourcing, manufacturing, and logistics easier.

The level of software, tools, one-on-one services, and ad budget funding increases based on pricing tier purchased. But even base access promises to impart all knowledge needed to achieve a $10K per month store.

Personally, I’d guess most successful students invest additional time into supplemental education on top of the core modules.

Is the Ecommerce Business Right For You?

At the end of the day, sustainable success requires matching realistic business models to your skills, resources and risk tolerance. No one program can shortcut that alignment and don’t believe any guru promising otherwise!

If you resonate with eCom Capital’s core philosophy of leading with branding over promotions, give their accelerator a shot. Just go in with eyes open understanding it’s on you to put in the work translating concepts into profits.

Expect to grind hard, put up extra money than you originally thought, and spend more hours honing your craft.

Don’t be afraid to have additional funds available for self-education, ad spend, and mistakes along the way.

With that solid footing established, eCom Capital perhaps offers a sound launch point. But there are no magic bullets or overnight millions guaranteed – no matter what clever marketers might suggest!

If this all seems too risky for you, I get it. There are cheaper and less risky solutions like becoming an Amazon Affiliate or learning from affiliate experts like Anthony Morrison

Top Alternative to eCom Capital / #1 Way To Make Money

What Is My Top Recommendation For Making Money Online - Digital Leasing

Listen, let’s settle the score. We all dream about those rapid rags-to-riches stories, building a business from the ground while sipping drinks on the beach. But in reality, lasting success requires getting the fundamentals right first.

Over the years I’ve tried all the popular online models:

  • Building and selling ecommerce brands which is never easy and you’re constantly chasing that next win.
  • Managing paid traffic and funnels for local businesses which is a huge pain.
  • Crypto and NFT projects that guarantee you nothing.

These can all work, but still have major downsides. So when I see the next hot thing like Ecom Capital, I get skeptical.

It’s not that programs like that are scams. But Ecom Capital is a lot of hype and you need to be careful. A lot of gurus like to make you feel like it’s easier than you think.

Nothing is as easy as it sounds and the business model represented in Ecom Capital will take serious time and money for you to be profitable.

That’s why I focus on proven business models like Digital Leasing. The skills are taught by successful founders actively using the same methods today.

I have over a dozen friends who swear by Digital Leasing. They vouch it works if you apply what’s taught.

Let me break down why:

1. Flexible Time Commitment

Many programs preach the “all in” approach. Quit your job and go full time overnight. It causes unnecessary risk and stress.

With the Ecom Capital program, it could take months or even years of daily grinding before you take your foot off the gas.

Digital Leasing guides you to start small with just a few hours a day. As your skills improve, scale up at your own pace. Even on a part-time basis, members consistently increase income.

And it can run mostly hands-off once setup. Earn recurring revenue while traveling, pursuing hobbies or spending time with family. The location flexibility is invaluable.

2. Massive Profit Margins

With Ecom Capital, you may net 20-30% profit margins. That means needing a high volume of sales to become cash positive. Crypto and NFTs can have even smaller margins.

But with Digital Leasing your profit margin starts high and goes up from there. Less overall volume is required, while keeping revenue extremely high.

3. Complete A-Z Blueprint

The potential for Ecom Capital to fail you is there because a lot of moving parts need to come together. This can leave you feeling disjointed, directionless, and overwhelmed.

Digital Leasing gives a crystal clear blueprint used by founders daily across sourcing, deals, talent, systems, scaling and more.

It’s a paint-by-numbers framework to replicate rather than building from scratch. This alone puts you way ahead.

4. Make an Impact

I dislike that many online models only serve yourself. Yes, even helping companies make sales can feel empty at times.

With Ecom Capital, you’re learning a tried-and-true method for making money online, sure. But, are you really making an impact on others? Chances are, you’re just regurgitating products back into the market at a higher price.

But Digital Leasing allows you to work closely with small business owners in your community. Guide them to grow revenue and their team. Make an immense impact at ground level.

Nothing beats helping brick-and-mortar owners earn more while employing more people. And earning handsomely yourself in the process.

You’ll have a unique opportunity to actually see your efforts impact people. That’s powerful.

Ultimately deciding your path forward is on you. Keep researching and hoping. Or embrace a framework creating results now for countless founders and change your trajectory overnight.
