Ecom King is a Shopify Dropshipping Course, created by Kamil Sattar in 2018.

It's little different from what most Ecom gurus will offer you, mainly in that he offers a YouTube course for free!

Dropshipping has been dying out for years now, so perhaps this is his attempt to get people interested again.

It's a tricky battle with Amazon and other sites cracking down on dropshippers, but maybe there's something useful within the Ecom King program.

The course is about 7 hours - while that isn't that comprehensive as other dropshipping courses, it pretty much includes the fundamentals and even gives you cheat sheets, a supplier list, and some cool live tutorials.

The course provides you with a step-by-step guide in dropshipping. The basic information is laid out which is perfect for someone who is just starting in the drop shipping business.

Since it is such a brief course, it'd be best to use it as a checklist for your store.

His content is not exactly new or unique. I'm pretty sure you have come across other dropshipping courses before that are more encompassing than this.

Fortunately, Kamil doesn't pitch anything about you making a 'quick buck.' He's telling the truth when he explains how this business model takes time, and only a phony guru might claim otherwise.

There is no specific website for Ecom King (although Sattar does have one under his name.)

Instead, everything directs you to his YouTube channel. If you're looking for his instructional materials, that's where to find it.

He's got a ton of subscribers there, so he seems to be doing alright.

Who Is Kamil Sattar?

Mohamed Kamil Sattar was born May 10, 1999. He is a popular British E-commerce entrepreneur known as "The Ecom King."

Sattar became the youngest Forbes Business Council member in history. He made this possible just before his 21st birthday.

He was a graduate of Shrewsbury College in 2016 at the age of 17, after completing a two-year Merit BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma in Business.

That means Sattar met the minimum requirements and so in 2014, he began his Diploma at only 15! It's not surprising then that at the age of 18 in 2017,  Kamil began Ecommerce Mentoring.

Pretty impressive.

Kamil Sattar founded and partnered with over three companies in different fields - from luxury goods to digital media, and dropshipping to e-commerce.

Business owners together with their staff have been under his mentorship with whom he shares his expertise in e-commerce. Sattar has been actively involved in the industry since 2016.

It would appear that he has helped several businesses scale to 6-7 figures in revenue.

What's Inside The Ecom King Course?

In the eCom King program, you are going to learn the fundamentals of the dropshipping business model and the ecommerce business in general to give you a solid foundation of the industry.

Sattar will help you identify winning products and vendors. Branding and App selection for your Shopify store are also covered in the course.

Sattar spends a significant amount of time on marketing. He discusses this subject in detail, as well as, gives you advice. The module focuses on only two ways, however - email marketing and SMS.

You are given the necessary tools and tips on how you can produce one-of-a-kind videos including thumbnails that could potentially set your product and store apart from the competition.

Facebook Business Manager and Ads Manager setup is provided.  You'll also get to know how your Facebook Ads can be launched, tested and scaled.

Finally, Kamil demonstrates a flawless method how to get influencers to promote your product.

If you have any experience or know about i****nfluencers, you'd know what I'm talking about. It'd be easier for you to herd cats than get those influencers to respond to you.

You'll learn how to persuade them to respond.

But first, download the free cheat sheet because there is a lot of information in this lesson, and some subjects are discussed very briefly.

This will make everything so much simpler and would be particularly useful for people who are more prone to getting distracted.

Section 1: What Is Dropshipping & How Much You Need To Start

This part introduces the course and the business model. It also provides you with an overview of Shopify dropshipping and eCommerce in general.

Kamil recommends starting with about $1k.

He also discusses the amount of money you need to spend as well as how you spend it. I do think this is going to help you in a lot of ways, especially if you're a newbie, because this is when many beginners get overwhelmed and confused.

As a review team...we agree that we don't see $1,000 really being enough to start your ecommerce biz. Realistically you'll be closer to $5,000.

Half of that will be used to buy product and the other half for ad spend.

Not to mention it will literally take at least 6 months to do your full launch and see results (if any).

Section 2 teaches you how you can find a profitable product. Here, he talks about the various niches that he thinks are the best in the market.

You will also be given a cheat sheet using simple copy and paste options.

Section 8 teaches you how to create video ads, including text, filters, colors, and effects. He also discusses here about the importance of having multiple ad copies run simultaneously.

But the thing is you won't have any form of support, like a Facebook group to exchange ideas with... so you'd have to be cool with learning on your own

Time-Specific Updates

If you've ever worked in the dropshipping business, you've definitely read about the 4th quarter.

eCom King has also given training videos - free of charge - how to run a dropshipping store during the busiest sales season.

Kamil is also forthright on whether or not you are putting yourself up for failure by attempting to compete.

Specifically, if your finances are not large enough to cover for Q4, it's not a smart move to pursue in the game.

Ad spending is considerably higher, supply chains strained, competition fierce, and you definitely don't have much time to sort out your vendors.

In other words, he comes off as someone who is actually working to support others rather than just giving his opinions or hyping people up.

Sattar states that it takes about five days to create these courses, so I applaud him for making a Q4-specific YouTube video provided that the majority of the factors in dropshipping are different from the rest of the year.

While the YouTube course is free, it seems that Kamil Sattar makes his money from people clicking on affiliate links below his videos.

He also pitches mentorship programs that will also likely cost you a few bucks more.

What Does The Internet Have To Say?

Let's hear the voice of the people.

"Fake of course, he uses the strategy of (i'm against selling courses) to drive traffic to his youtube chanel and earn from google ads + via affiliate links, check his videos description, they are all affiliate links.

+ he paid Forbes 1200$ to get featured and have a personal authority, he pretends to be millionaire to sell you his mentorship program, check his site, it seems he was made by a kid, this guy has never had any shopify store in his life, if he was a millionaire he would not have been a full time youtuber, have you ever seen him show you an ecommerce store or business he owns ? never .... add to that he looks broke living in a small appartement and may be just a room, wake up people, some real red flags around this guy... add to that his fancy username THE ECOM KING... and on each video he says (hey i'm kamil sattar, know as the ecom king... lol) who gave you this nickname ? just yourself

In fact 99% ecom youtubers are just gurus, try to learn by yourself and your own mistakes, avoid those youtubers because their real business is youtube"

"I saw a video he posted the other week and I've been looking at some more of his stuff. It seems fairly legit, so I looked into some of his services/websites. The style he puts out is really nice and the products he uses seem to be good, but in looking at the websites he's using to promote his own services, I've been noticing a fair amount of bad grammar for an English speaking person.

I've also noticed that most of the links for his recent work are either not leading to the correct websites that he's advertising or have the websites that he is advertising using broken links/unattached domains or stores that aren't publicly available.

There's only one store that he's advertising that actually looks to be open. The website functionality on that particular site looks to be good and the styling looks pretty good too, but again the English is a little spotty.

I was considering getting his services initially because I'm not super awesome with the video ads or photo editing and, while I can do website styling, it tends to be a lot more time intensive than I would like. My strengths tend to lie more in complex backend or system level programming and quick frontend POCs/MVPs. So, I thought that acquiring services for these aspects might be a little more prudent so I could get this running a little easier. Some of these things are raising some small red flags for me though. These things are nothing that I wouldn't be fix easily enough, it's just the fact that should I have to if I'm paying that much money."

Is The ECom King A Scam?

Not technically.

You can make money with this program, but it’s definitely not as easy as Kamil Sattar makes it sound.

There’s a ton of work to be done upfront, no real guarantee of success, and - most importantly - you need to do a ton of volume to make any real money.

Now, there’s nothing wrong with front-loading the work and making the money later.

But if you’re grinding it out for 3 months, $3-5k in the hole on ads (because that whole “get started with $5 a day” thing is total BS) and then your reward is 15% profit on a $12 product (which comes out to $1.80), it’s not really worth it.

What if, instead, you could do that same 3 months of work (in your spare time), and your reward was a $500 to $2,000 payment that came in every single month?

And what if you actually didn’t need to wait 3 months? What if you could get started today and have your first payment in a week?

Kamil's advice, in fact, is to put down a minimum of $1,000 to launch your dropshipping career. Otherwise, it's not going to be worth it.

He is honest when it comes to the amount of investment needed to start in this dropshipping business and the likelihood of success in the first year... which isn't much.

Furthermore, he emphasizes that it would take up to 3 years to see the amount of money you're actually going to make, plus a lot of self-learning in between.

But what he didn't mention is the need to get money for your vendors.

The majority of the ecommerce training courses overlook the fact that you would need to purchase the goods from your vendors before selling them to your clients.

As mentioned, Ecom King does have a bunch of affiliate tools that he insists you use, so you'd have to take those costs into consideration for your budget as well.

The nice thing about a free course is that you don't need to worry about a refund!

That said, there are no indications about whether or not Kamil offers refunds for any personal coaching sessions.

Shopify does not offer refunds for your monthly fees.
