Daniel Michael DeVito Jr. was born in Neptune Township, New Jersey, on November 17th, 1944. He is the son to Julia and Daniel DeVito.

A uncommon hereditary ailment, multiple epiphyseal dysplasia known as Fairbank’s disease is the reason for his short height. He grew up in Asbury Park, New Jersey, as the youngest of two older sisters. DeVito has Italian origin and was raised as a Catholic.

DeVito went to the “Oratory Preparatory School” in Summit, New Jersey. He asked his father to let him go to boarding school, and his father agreed. He then went to the “American Academy of Dramatic Arts” and graduated in 1966.

St. Francis of Assisi and the Billion Dollar Saint” were among the plays in which he made his acting debut as a senior in high school.

Throughout the remainder of his life, he continued to perform. After graduating from high school, he began working at his sister’s salon, where he hoped to meet plenty of attractive ladies. After serving in that position for eighteen months, he decided to pursue a career in cosmetics instead.

It was for this reason that when he applied for membership in American Academy of Dramatic Arts, one of the conditions was for him to perform a monologue on stage. As a consequence of the positive feedback he got on his monologue, he decided to enroll in the acting school and graduated in 1966.

They divorced in October 2012 after 30 years of marriage before getting back together in March 2013. They split peacefully for the second time in March 2017, but have said that they will not be filing for divorce.

DeVito began working at the ‘Eugene O’Neill Theater Center’ in Waterford, Connecticut, immediately after graduating. His audition for the film adaptation of “In Cold Blood” came about after viewing an ad.

DeVito was a member of the Colonnades Theater Lab at the Eugene O’Neill Theater Center in Waterford, Connecticut, during the beginning of his acting career. Aside from that, he was a part of the Westbeth Playwrights Feminist Collective, appearing in their own productions.

Danny DeVito began his film career in 1975 after a successful theatre career in “One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest.” Off-Broadway productions of the book had already prepared the way for him to be cast for the film version in 1971.

A dark comedy in which he also starred in 1987’s Throw Momma from the Train was DeVito’s debut directing effort. The film, which was based on Hitchcock’s ‘Strangers on a Train,’ also featured Billy Crystal and Rob Reiner.
