Crush It With Matt Review (Updated 2024): Is Matt Colin The Next Best Affiliate Marketing Guru?

By: Joel & Josiah
Crush it with Matt Review

Hey folks and welcome to this Crush It With Matt review of his affiliate marketing program. we’re going to take a good hard look at what Matt Colin has put together.

Making money through affiliate marketing is one of the most popular online business models out there. But there are a ton of gurus and programs that make bold promises yet fail to deliver real value.

As someone who has extensively reviewed affiliate marketing courses and opportunities, I’ve noticed a few common issues:

  1. Over-hyped earnings claims that are unrealistic for beginners
  2. A lack of true, step-by-step training on building a successful affiliate business
  3. Products designed more to make the guru money than to actually help students succeed

My goal with this review is to give you an unbiased look at Crush It With Matt’s affiliate program. By the end, you’ll know if it’s a legitimate way to get started in affiliate marketing or just another overhyped let down.

Let’s get after it!

Average Rating

2.67

The curriculum in this program focuses heavily on mindset and personal branding which are important but not the “end all be all.” You can know everything about branding but if you don’t understand niches, content, and ads - you’ll never make a dime. Mentorship is provided automatically when you sign up for the program but there is very little in terms of community outside of your typically disengaged Facebook and messenger groups.

Affiliate marketing is a beginner-friendly business model in terms of cost because you don’t need to spend a ton of money to get started.
Crush It With Matt does provide value in terms of course offerings so if you’re able to apply what you learn and work independently, it could work for you.
Plenty of individual mentorship is provided as a foundational staple of this program.
I think too much focus is put on personal branding which can leave out valuable areas of expertise needed for affiliate marketing.
The affiliate marketing business model is constantly under siege by Google for being thin and unauthoritative.
Expect to wait months or even longer to earn your first commission because affiliate marketing can take a while to ramp up.

Why Listen To Us?

My name is Josiah, and this is my Dad, Joel.

Together, we make up the team here at Scamrisk.

If you’ll let me bother you for two minutes, I’d like to quickly explain why I’m even here writing this review.

In early 2020, I had just graduated from college & had no real career prospects.

I knew I was destined for something more, but I had no clue how I was going to make it happen.

I had this sinking feeling in my gut all the time… like the “big man upstairs” had accidentally given me the version of life where I’d be mediocre forever, instead of the one where I was, ya know – happy & fulfilled.

Anyway…

I had fiddled around with some different online businesses in college:

Some random MLMs, a bit of affiliate marketing, a (failed) dropshipping store or two, all the usual suspects.

Even my dad had been involved in MLMs back in the day… selling knives & other random nonsense people (probably) didn’t need.

All I really wanted was to find something that was going to actually work for me.

Maybe those things had worked for others, but for me it all turned up a fat “0” in the bank account department.

So I searched! And searched… and searched… and searched…

And eventually, I somehow stumbled upon a program that promised to help me build an income online (read about it here if you’re curious).

I didn’t really want to be “rich”.

The thought of making a reliable $5K per month & not having to worry about clocking in to a 9-to-5 ever again was all I needed.

Sure, there were people in the program doing high-6 and low-7 figures per year… but that wasn’t what I was out for.

I just wanted to provide freedom for myself, and if I was lucky, take my family along for the ride.

Fast forward a few days and a few phone calls & I was enrolled!

Here’s the first “money making website” I put up:

I built that site in 2020, and it still makes me $1,500 per month. It’s a basic 5 page website I built based on a template the program provides.

The best part to me? My dad and I get to do it all together!

So between the:

  1. Ease of reaching $5-$10K per month in income online
  2. Straightforward-ness of the system to do it
  3. Fact that I get to do it w/ my family

Is why I recommend local lead generation as my #1 business model for making money online.

Sure, it takes some work and dedication – but anyone that tells you that there’s a business out there that requires no work is selling you a lemon.

I’m not saying you need to sign up for the same program I did, but I would definitely recommend giving the business model a peek!

TLDR – What’s the Big Deal Behind Crush it With Matt?

TLDR - What’s the Big Deal Behind Crush it With Matt?

Crush It With Matt’s affiliate marketing program promises to teach you how to build a successful online business by promoting other companies’ products and services for commissions. Sounds pretty straightforward, right?

Well, not so fast.

I like to think of affiliate marketing as a game of darts.

Each affiliate offer is a different dartboard, with varying sizes, board materials, and distances you have to throw from. Some boards are really small targets that are hard to hit consistently. Others are bigger but made of materials that cause your darts to bounce off erratically if you don’t hit them just right.

Matt’s program teaches you how to take aim and throw darts at these different boards to try and hit commissions. But in my experience reviewing many affiliate marketing courses, this process tends to be a lot more complicated than the gurus make you believe.

You might have 100 darts, but there are so many variables determining whether or not you have success.

You might luck out and hit a few boards at first but eventually, you’ll start developing bad habits, getting frustrated, and those commissions will dry up.

Even worse, affiliate marketing involves:

  • Dealing with constant algorithm updates
  • Being nothing more than a “hired hand” to promote other people’s stuff
  • Having zero control over pricing, commission or quality.
  • Relying on razor thin commissions to build a sustainable business.

This is the business model pitched by Matt Colin and while it makes a lot of people successful. I don’t think you have to settle.

Instead, I believe a much smarter path to online success is through Digital Leasing.

Rather than renting out your time and labor to hit small commission targets for other companies, you create your own digital “property.” This property (a simple website) attracts targeted leads and customers for local service businesses like plumbers, electricians, landscapers, etc.

You then “lease” this digital property to those businesses in exchange for a share of the revenues it generates for them. It’s like building a storefront on a busy main street and renting it out – except it’s all digital.

Who Benefits From Crush it With Matt and Who Doesn’t?

Who Benefits From Crush it With Matt and Who Doesn’t?

Affiliate marketing programs like the one offered by Crush It With Matt are often marketed as a great way for complete beginners to get started making money online.

However, the reality is that building a successful affiliate business requires some existing skills and personality traits.

Let’s break down who is truly well-equipped to benefit from this type of program:

Who Benefits

  • People with strong writing abilities and communication skills. A huge part of affiliate marketing with this program involves creating content like reviews, tutorials, email newsletters and more to promote products/services.
  • Those with a knack for building an audience and personal brand. The most successful affiliates don’t just promote offers – they cultivate a loyal following of people who know, like and trust them.
  • Persistent self-starters with patience. Affiliate marketing rarely leads to overnight success. It takes drive, determination and a willingness to consistently put in work over months/years to build sustainable income streams.

Who Doesn’t Benefit

  • People looking to get rich quick with minimal effort. Affiliate marketing is real work – there’s no shortcut to beating out thousands of competitors and building a profitable personal brand/audience.
  • Those with difficulties focusing and seeing projects through. Shiny object syndrome is the killer of many wannabe affiliate marketers who constantly jump from offer to offer.
  • Anyone expecting to earn passive, hands-off income right away. It takes A LOT of active work up front through content creation, promotion, relationship building and more before income can become semi-passive.
  • Those looking to create products/services of their own. Affiliates only earn commissions on other companies’ offers – you don’t get to control your own product line.

The bottom line is that affiliate marketing is a legitimate way to build an online business, but it’s not a get-rich-quick scheme. It requires specific skills, personality traits, and a long-term vision to succeed.

If affiliate marketing programs don’t seem like winners for you, consider a different business model. Starting a dropshipping business can be pretty affordable.

Let’s take a high-level overview of this program and see if it’s worth your time and effort.

Business Model

At its core, Crush It With Matt teaches a fairly straightforward affiliate marketing business model. The premise is to connect with companies and brands, promote their products/services, and earn commissions on any sales you generate.

Sounds simple enough, right? Well, Matt takes this a step further by really focusing on simplifying the process as much as possible. Rather than teaching you to promote random offers through methods like paid ads or YouTube, his program emphasizes building a personal brand and audience first.

The idea is to pick a passion or interest niche you genuinely care about, create content and build a following around that niche, and then promote relevant affiliate offers to that engaged audience. It’s about forming real connections rather than just blasting promotions out there.

Matt’s philosophy removes a lot of the complexity around affiliate marketing. No need to worry about creating your own products, dealing with customer support, handling shipments or refunds, etc.

You simply refer people to other companies’ offers through your content and get paid commissions when sales happen.

About Matt Colin

about matt colin

So who is the man behind this “Crush It” movement? And no… it’s not Gary Vaynerchuk this time.

Matt Colin is a serial online entrepreneur from Barbados who has been building businesses on the internet since the early 2000s. After getting burned by Google’s algorithm changes that killed his initial passive income streams, he spent over $40,000 investing in mentorship programs.

From those experiences, Matt developed his “Customer Pull Effect” philosophy of using inbound marketing strategies, automated sales funnels, and multi-tiered offers to attract people in rather than “pushing” promotions on them. He’s been teaching these affiliate marketing methods to his audience for years now.

Matt prides himself on giving away better advice for free than what many “gurus” charge thousands for. His goal is to help people build genuine passion-based businesses that provide true income and freedom.

Crush it With Matt Cost

crush it with matt cost

Like a lot of affiliate marketing programs, the Crush it With Matt cost is hidden behind lock and key. That said, I’ve reviewed enough of these to confidently say that you should expect to pay between $497-$1,000.

Most of the people who market these programs have been through other people’s courses like Russell Brunson for example. As a result, they’re taught to promote their course for somewhere in this ballpark in terms of cost.

What Makes This Program Different… Or Not Different?

What makes Crush It With Matt’s program different is the real emphasis on simplicity and building a personal brand first. While other affiliate programs may jump straight into paid ads, SEO tactics, social media algorithms and so on, Matt focuses more on the human element.

Now let’s be real for a second.

A personal brand by itself will not make you money. It’ll help set the stage for everything else, but it won’t make you anything.

It’s important to learn personal branding, storytelling, and authority marketing; but you still need to learn everything else like SEO, copywriting, ads, and so on.

There’s also a huge focus on using smart automation, email marketing, and sales funnels to maximize each prospective lead’s value. But it all stems from connecting with people’s true interests and passions first before ever pitching anything.

I can get behind that. Anyway that he can teach you to capitalize on the traffic you already have is a bonus.

Personal Opinion On Crush It With Matt

Personal Opinion On Crush It With Matt

I’ve spent years in the online marketing and make money online space, reviewing seemingly endless courses and programs promising to teach the “secrets” to building a profitable online business. Sadly, most of them fall woefully short of their inflated claims.

However, after doing a deep dive into Crush It With Matt’s affiliate marketing program, I can say that there’s some legitimacy here.

His focus on building an authentic personal brand and engaged audience first makes a lot of sense. Too many affiliate marketers try to take shortcuts through Facebook ads or YouTube sponsorships, only to struggle getting any traction and coming off as spammy.

By zeroing in on connecting with people’s true interests and developing influence through valuable content and relationship building, you establish critical authority which will help you in the long run.

That said, none of this guarantees you ever make a dime.

He can preach whatever methodology he wants but that doesn’t eliminate the fact that affiliate marketing requires a lot of work, patience, and a little luck. So, before you whip out your checkbook, let me share how I formed my opinion:

  1. Researched Matt’s expertise and make sure he’s actually offering something different than the free information available everywhere.
  2. Took a look at forums like Reddit and Quora to see if I could find anything about him.
  3. Looked for transparency around pricing to see if I could find information about what isn’t listed publicly.
  4. Compared this business model to alternatives like ecommerce and dropshipping to see if this is the right choice for you.

While you might think I’m being too cynical, it’s important to look out for yourself in business. These gurus will do anything to sell you their program, you’re the only one that can decide if it’s right for you or not.

Is This a Crush It With Matt Scam?

After thoroughly looking into Matt Colin I’m pretty confident in saying there’s no Crush It With Matt Scam.

Matt is a legitimate entrepreneur who has been making money online for nearly two decades through various digital businesses.

That said, just because something isn’t an outright scam doesn’t automatically make it the best opportunity either. I do have some reservations about whether Matt’s program represents the ideal way for newcomers to get started with affiliate marketing.

So, I cannot comfortably recommend this program for you.

For one, there isn’t a ton of independent verification about the specific training materials, community, and support included. Most of what’s available is the marketing content put out by Matt himself.

While I don’t doubt Matt’s personal experience and credentials, I always like to see more social proof and student testimonials when it comes to make-money programs of any kind.

My bigger concern, however, is with the affiliate marketing business model itself for beginners. Building a personal brand, creating content, developing an audience – these are all noble pursuits, but they require skills that take most people years to develop properly.

Very few people are willing to buy anything from “gurus” who just pop up out of nowhere and want to sell you on something.

And at the end of the day, you’re still at the mercy of the companies you promote. They can change commission rates, product quality, or cut you out entirely at any time since you don’t own or control the offer itself.

Instead, why not focus on building a real business where you own your assets and have control over your future?

This is why I recommend Digital Leasing.

Digital leasing focuses on building your own digital rental properties that attract high-value leads for local service businesses. You own the asset, control the revenue share terms, and can build streams of recurring rental income with proper effort.

It has a more straightforward path to passive income compared to the rollercoaster of affiliate marketing, in my opinion.

What’s Inside This Program?

What’s Inside This Program?

Crush It With Matt prioritizes a lot of “mental stuff” that comes with running an online business. While that’s all fine and dandy, a good mentality and approach will only get you so far.

What’s the main course of the program? Let’s talk about it.

The Foundation

This includes modules on developing the entrepreneurial mindset, overcoming limiting beliefs, setting the right goals, and understanding the bigger vision of building a personal brand business.

The foundation is all about shifting your perspective from looking for get-rich-quick shortcuts to embracing the process of providing value and helping others. It’s about patience, persistence, and thinking long-term.

Personal Branding

A major focus is placed on creating an authentic personal brand that attracts your ideal audience. You’ll learn how to identify your unique strengths, craft a compelling brand story and message, and establish yourself as an authority figure in your chosen niche.

This involves training on content creation across multiple platforms like blogging, vlogging, podcasting, social media, and more. The idea is to develop a true multimedia presence rather than just relying on one content format.

Finding Your Niche

Of course, no affiliate marketing program would be complete without guidance on how to find and enter profitable niches. Matt’s training covers extensive niche research strategies to identify high-demand opportunities aligned with your interests.

You’ll then learn how to properly promote affiliate offers related to those niches through your personal brand platform. This includes specific sections on copywriting, persuasion, building email marketing funnels, and structuring your promotions for maximum conversions.

Driving Traffic & Building a List

To make affiliate promotions work, you need an engaged audience of prospects. The program dives into both paid and organic methods for driving targeted traffic to your personal brand content.

Paid methods like influencer marketing, social media ads, and search marketing are covered. But the main emphasis is on organic, “pull” marketing tactics to attract people inbound, such as SEO, social media growth hacking, guest posting, and more.

List building is also a critical part, with modules dedicated to lead magnet creation, opt-in funnel design, nurturing sequences, segmentation and more. Anthony Morrison provides great information on list building as well.

Automation & Scaling

As your affiliate business grows, Matt provides guidance on strategically outsourcing and automating various processes to increase efficiency. He teaches on hiring, managing remote teams, optimizing workflows, and leveraging technology to scale your promotions.

The goal is to gradually make your income more hands-off and semi-passive by having systems in place to keep your content engine and promotions running smoothly with less of your direct involvement.

Will Crush it With Matt Help You Crush These Commissions?

I think this is a great question to ask yourself.

Based on everything you’ve read so far, do you think this affiliate marketing program is your ticket to riches? Or is it too similar to a lot of information you can already find online?

The curriculum is broad and covers a lot of general information but in my opinion, doesn’t go in-depth enough with the actual hard hitting details you need to be successful in affiliate marketing.

Because of that, I can’t recommend Crush It With Matt.

Besides the lack of depth in the program, affiliate marketing is a volatile business model that requires a lot of patience, tons of upfront effort, and all of that to build a business that relies on other people’s products and services to be successful.

I’ve simply seen too many people get burned in the affiliate marketing business.

What is My Top Recommendation for Making Money Online in 2024?

What Is My Top Recommendation For Making Money Online - Digital Leasing

Could Crush It With Matt’s affiliate marketing program help you make money online?

Maybe?

Remember, you only need to know a little bit more than someone else to teach them something.

But as someone who has tried countless business models like:

  • Selling products through Amazon FBA
  • Dropshipping closet organizers on Shopify
  • Pitching real estate agents on SEO and content services

I know a thing or two about making money online and I can cut through the BS when I see it.

Matt’s teachings are legitimate but I can’t fully endorse pursuing affiliate marketing as a newcomer. Here’s why:

  • It’s an incredibly saturated, competitive space dominated by gurus and established brands
  • You’re building someone else’s asset without any control over pricing, offers, etc.
  • Income relies on your constant hustle of creating content and promotions
  • Success requires a rare blend of skills like writing, video creation, building an audience, sales
  • It can take years of active work before seeing any significant passive income

Instead, I believe a more promising online business opportunity for the average person is Digital Leasing.

I’ve seen dozens of people change their lives and the lives of those around them through digital asset leasing that brings in consistent passive income.

1. True Passive Income – Money flows in automatically without reliance on traffic or platforms thanks to built-in lease agreements. Your assets continue benefiting clients while paying you.

No matter what anyone tells you, affiliate marketing isn’t going to earn you money while you sleep until you have years of experience and authority built up.

2. Minimal Ongoing Work – Affiliate marketing will keep you busy because you need to constantly stay up on your brand. Digital leasing allows mostly hands-off income generation once your assets are built and monetized.

3. Replicable Scale – Expanding and growing an affiliate marketing business requires you to either build new sites and funnels or increase ad spend. But copying digital leases takes minutes by tweaking the branding and connecting payment links. You can replicate the same process to boost your earnings.

4. Helping Real People – Instead of relying on someone else’s dream to fuel yours by pitching whatever to whoever, your assets provide real value for local small business owners happy to pay you monthly. And you develop marketing skills in the process.

You have the opportunity to make a real impact on people’s lives while also securing your own time and financial freedom. It’s a clear win-win situation.
