But how did he make his money?

The one thing that’s well-known about ultra high net worth individuals (UHNWs) – the folks worth at least $30 million USD – is that virtually ALL of them have some part of their fortune in real estate.

Many of the more famous rich people and “celebrity entrepreneurs” actually got their start in real estate. And that’s great for them! Not so much for us…

See, more millionaires are created during recessions than any other part of the economic cycle. Which is cool, except the last real recession was 2008, when real estate prices were in the tank and you could buy a whole neighborhood with $100,000.

Now, though, real estate prices are through the roof, and interest rates are skyrocketing too. So how does the everyday person start building a massive net worth in an economy like this one?

Have you considered Digital Real Estate?

The internet’s been around for decades, but the possibility of actually owning high-value pieces of property ON the internet is fairly new.

In other words, it’s a wide open playing field…but it won’t stay that way forever.

Here’s a quick summary of how Digital Real Estate works:

You invest a little money (maybe around $100) to either purchase or build a piece of “land” on the internet.

You specifically place this “land” in a high-traffic area, where lots of people pass through (just like traditional real estate, it’s all about Location, Location, Location).

The folks who pass through your “land” all happen to be looking for a specific product or service, so you “rent” your land to a business owner who happens to offer that product or service.

The business owner pays you $500 to $2,000 a month to “rent” your Digital Real Estate, because it helps them connect with their ideal customers.

Think of it like buying a strip mall, or an office space, just on the internet, for WAAAAYYY less money and headache.

early Life

A Connecticut native, Casey Neistat was born on March 25, 1981. He came from a lower-middle-class household and had a rough start in life. His grandmother is Louise Neistat who was a tap dancer before.

In his younger years, he was a bit of a rebel. When he was just 17 years old, Neistat truly dropped out of high school.

With then-girlfriend Robin Harris in 1998, he left his family’s home and gave birth to his first child, a boy called Owen, at the tender age of 17. The three of them lived in a trailer park until he was 20.

Casey Neistat was forced to rely on benefits and labor to support his small family at one time. Even in his earlier years, and even in the midst of the most difficult circumstances of his life, his honesty and hard work were evident.

After the relationship ended, he moved to New York and began creating films with his brother. For pleasure, he made films and movies with his brother and buddy in New York while working as a dishwasher and line cook.

Career

After Robin supposedly left him in 2001, Neistat picked up and relocated to New York City, where he found employment as a bike messenger. Later that year, he began working on sculpture-related films with his brother, Van, in collaboration with artist Tom Sachs.

And it was not until 2003 that Neistat began to gain a following. He made a short film called “iPod’s Dirty Secret” that slammed Apple’s stance on iPod battery replacements.

Casey and Van created their own video series, “Science Experiments,” in 2004. The program was part of the 26th Sao Paulo Biennial & Creative Time’s 59th Minute Program, and each video lasted 15 minutes and contained random experimentation.

The Neistat Brothers signed a deal with HBO in 2008 for an eight-episode TV series, which debuted in 2010. “The Neistat Brothers,” which aired on June 4, 2010, was written, directed, and produced by the brothers.

In 2010, Neistat released his debut YouTube video, instructing viewers on when to release the brake pedal cord on the New York City subway and attacking the MTA for not making it obvious when the cord should be pushed.

In 2015, he started posting daily YouTube videos, and by January 19th, 2016, he had 300 vlogs posted. In 2016, a video showed him snowboarding around the streets of New York City during a snowfall received 6.5 million views in 24 hours on YouTube.

Neistat and Mike Hackett worked together in 2015 to make a video-sharing app named Beme. This app let users make raw four-second videos that could be shared and uploaded right away with the user’s subscribers.

He has a very successful YouTube career. Neistat posted his commemorating video on January 19, 2016, but between November 2016 and March 2017, he ceased filming vlogs to focus on short films.
