Ahrefs

Building backlinks is an essential component of any SEO strategy, regardless of whether you’re a novice or a professional.

Although a website can be optimized using all the relevant keywords in all the right places, it won’t rank highly against other websites without backlinks.

Google and other search engines can’t verify the website’s credibility without backlinks. There are hundreds of websites that target the exact keywords as your website.

Search engines evaluate the quality of your backlink profile, which is used to indicate page popularity. You have high-quality links, and your page will be linked to if there are many of them.

Now, I do want to be totally honest in this review, so…

DISCLAIMER:
This Ahrefs review has been thoroughly researched with information and testimonials that are available online to anyone in the public. Any conclusions drawn by myself are opinions.

This review will go over Ahrefs to see if it really is the best toolset for backlinks and SEO analysis out there.

You’ll learn whether SEO is the right online business for you.

And at the end, you’ll find answers to some of the most frequently asked questions regarding Ahrefs and SEO in general.

But most importantly, you’ll see the exact system many others have used to build their own internet marketing business to over $40,000 a month in mostly passive income.

This system made them swear off SEO for good, because it uses some of the same skills but in a much more powerful and profitable way!

Site Explorer: Analyze A Site’s Organic Traffic and Backlinks

Site Explorer features Ahrefs’ main feature.

Below is how Site Explorer works:

Enter the URL to a site. It will provide an overview of the overall performance of your site’s SEO.

This report will show you how many backlinks your site has, how much Google traffic it receives, and how much that traffic is worth.

It’s basically a dashboard, which displays all of your SEO-related info on one page.

These are my thoughts:

This feature combines two of the most critical features (backlinks & organic traffic) into one. Let’s look at each one separately.

Backlink Profile: The Ahrefs Backlink Checker

This feature displays a site’s complete list of backlink profiles:

This backlink report, on the surface, is identical to other backlink checkers like Moz Pro and SEMrush.

As with other tools, enter a URL. A list of all their backlinks will be provided.

Ahrefs differs from other backlink checkers.

Ahrefs’ filtering and sorting tools are first-rate.

This is extremely important.

Let’s suppose, for example, that you want the backlinks to point to an authority site like NerdWallet.

Ahrefs claims that NerdWallet hosts 2 million backlinks.

Good luck as you go through each link profile one by one.

However, let’s assume that you only want to view links from sites with a high domain rating. Or pages with a high URL rating. It is easy to do this.

Maybe you simply want to see “nofollow” links instead. Ahrefs makes this easy.

Ahrefs has excellent filters and sorting tools. It’s a great time-saver.

Ahrefs link analysis tool also has a huge index. It is also constantly updated.

So you won’t have to worry if outdated data is being displayed.

Ahrefs says that their crawler is the second most active after Google.

Ahrefs really is great at finding new links, however, not necessarily the best.

I ran a test to determine how quickly Ahrefs or Majestic, SEMrush, Majestic, and Moz can find new backlinks.

Ahrefs was more efficient than SEMrush, according to our testing. But it wasn’t as fast at Majestic or Moz.

Ahrefs backlinks data is trustworthy and I find them fresh. However, my test suggests that it is slightly behind Majestic (in terms of finding new connections quickly),

Ahrefs backlink analysis function is my favorite feature. It is simple to use. You will receive regular updates. This helps me to find exactly what it is I need.

Ahrefs has a lot of great features, but I’m most often there to analyze a site’s link profile. Ahrefs offers a few backlink-related features I use every now and again.

Ahrefs is one example of how I use Ahrefs to locate new links for sites that have just been acquired or find out which pages have seen the most link growth in the last 30 days.

Both of these help me decide what type of Link Building is most effective for a given site.

Organic Search: SEO Competitor Research

This feature is about finding the top SEO keywords used by your competitors.

This report will not match everyone’s Google Search Engine data.

Ahrefs comes pretty close.

Ahrefs has listed the top keywords backlinko uses in Google, for example.

Here are the top 10 keyword phrases according to Backlinko’s Search Console. Not bad.

Ahrefs does a good job finding keywords for which a site ranks. It also estimates how much search traffic these keywords bring in.

Similar to Ahrefs’ backlinks tool, the true strength of this tool is sorting and filtering.

HubSpot, for instance, is one of my main SEO competitors.

Ahrefs reports that HubSpot is currently ranked for 1.5 million keywords.

This is crazy.

How do I find keywords that make sense from this list?

Ahrefs has excellent filters.

These filters make it easy to find keywords that include a particular word or phrase:

You may use a specific keyword difficulty level:

You can also rank in the Featured Snippet Spot:

And a lot more!

These filters allow me to quickly narrow down the keywords that are most effective for me.

Organic Search also has a few cool features that you can use to your advantage.

The “top pages” section, for example, shows you which pages of a website bring in the most traffic.

The “competing domains” section shows you the main SEO competitors for a site:

You can then find other sites that you can reverse engineer for keywords and backlinks.

Keywords Explorer: Find Keywords For SEO

Next, let’s look at Ahrefs Keyword Explorer.

Keyword Explorer does not limit you to Google, as many other keyword tools do.

Keyword Explorer is a tool that allows you to locate and analyze keywords within YouTube, Yandex, or Amazon.

Keyword Explorer overall has some great strengths. There are also significant flaws.

Let’s take a look at the strengths. Keyword Explorer is a powerful tool that allows you to do a deep dive into a specific keyword.

This single report contains valuable data on search volume and competition, CPC, TTR, SERP position history, and other relevant information.

These features can be helpful if you are trying to decide between different keywords.

Ahrefs excels in analyzing specific search terms.

Ahrefs doesn’t have a lot of success in coming up with keyword ideas.

In fact, I just ran a massive keyword research tool analysis.

Ahrefs generated the most keyword suggestions of any tool.

It sounds all good. But, not really.

Many of these keyword suggestions are unrelated to the input you have typed.

Below are some keyword suggestions for the “paleo diet.”

You can find a few decent keyword ideas here:

There is also a lot of junk to sort through.

Keyword Explorer allows you to go “a mile high and an inch wide” for a particular keyword.

Keyword Explorer may not be the right tool for you if you need to search new keywords to rank in Google searches. I doubt you’ll like it.

Site Audit: Find Technical SEO Problems

Let’s have a quick look at Ahrefs SEO Site Audit.

You won’t be disappointed if you have ever used an SEO site auditor tool.

Ahrefs provides your site with an overall score, similar to other audit tools.

This will give you the usual technical SEO issues to address, such as duplicate metatags, broken redirects, and others.

Overall, this site audit tool is very reliable. SEO novices can quickly determine what they should do.

SEO specialists can find plenty of information to delve into.

Plus, it runs automatically regularly. It doesn’t require me to remember to run a crawl.

Rank Tracker: Track Your Most Important Keywords

Ahrefs rank tracking tool works just like any other. Simply enter a few keywords. You can then see their ranking on Google. You can also track changes in ranking over time.

The problem is, it doesn’t update daily like other rank trackers.

The plan you choose will determine how often you receive ranking updates.

Ahrefs Lite is a good example. Your keyword rankings are updated once per week.

It’s not a good sign. SEO may not be an essential part of your site’s digital marketing strategy. However, checking your rankings once per week might not be that significant.

If you are an SEO professional, it is crucial to keep track of your rankings 24 hours a day. Imagine a client calling you to ask how your rankings are doing today. A tool that provides this information is necessary.

Ahrefs is unable to provide daily updates. Their higher-tier plans offer the best updates, which are every 3 working days.

Overall, I think Ahrefs has a solid rank tracking tool. It’s easy to use. And has a great UI. It’s just a shame that the data doesn’t update every day.

Domain Comparison: Compare Multiple Sites Side-By-Side

Here, you can compare backlinks for up to 5 sites simultaneously.

A chart is also available that allows you to track how each site has changed in its link profile over time.

Ahrefs should have the same feature for organic traffic. This would allow you to see how search traffic for different sites has changed over time.

Regardless, I find this feature to be quite remarkable.

Content Explorer: Ahrefs’ Content Marketing Tool

Content Explorer is similar in function to the “Content Analyzer,” BuzzSumo.

You can use it by entering a topic. You’ll see a list with content related to that topic, including backlinks and social media shares.

This is a very useful feature. This is something SEMrush, and Moz Pro do not have.

However, it is not fair to compare Content Explorer with the BuzzSumo tool in general. BuzzSumo offers many other cool features than Content Analyzer.

BuzzSumo’s Content Analysis is, in my opinion, a lot better. You can see, for example, who shared that piece of content on Twitter.

Ahrefs Support

The support I receive can make or break my experience with a particular tool. Good support will allow me to get through any issues and get more value from each feature.

I did a quick test with Ahrefs support in my SEMrush post.

That test took place almost one year ago. I wanted to check if they still provide good support.

This question is for two reasons.

First, I was really curious about it.

Second, it was difficult. The question was too complicated that the support staff did not have a script to copy and paste.

The reply arrived 8 minutes later.

This is a poor answer. I asked this question as I am not an expert in technical matters.

The reply implied that I was a professional coder. However, I was unable to see the difference between subnets & referring ips.

Ahrefs Pricing

Ahrefs offers four plans starting at $99/ month, up to $999/ month.

All plans have the same major features.

The difference is how much data you get from each one.

On the Lite plan, for instance, 500 keywords can be tracked. However, you can track 10k keywords with an Agency plan.

It’s the same feature; however, one provides 50x more data.

The same applies to keywords, backlinks, and site audit crawls.

You have the same access to all plans. You can access more features the more you spend.

Note: There are a few exceptions. With a Lite plan, you cannot track mobile rankings. However, most plans have the same basic difference: the data access you have.

Ahrefs: Things That I Like

Great UI And UX

As with any tool, Ahrefs takes time to learn. It’s super easy to find what you want once you get the hang of Ahrefs. And it takes just a few clicks to get there. Let’s say I want to view the anchor text breakdown of a site. From the sidebar, I can directly access the report.

Solid Data

Ahrefs can only be as good as the data it stores. Ahrefs data is excellent, regardless of search volume or backlinks, rankings, social shares, or rankings.

Excellent Site Audit Feature

The Ahrefs site auditor tool is one of my favorites. Even better than tools that are specialized in site audits.

Keyword Deep Dives

Ahrefs Keyword Explorer allows you to do a deep dive on one keyword. You can find everything you need on one page to help you make a decision about a keyword.

Cool “Little Features”

Ahrefs offers many useful little features that I couldn’t cover here.

Sites that link to multiple competitors are shown by “Link Intersect,” for example.

The “internal backlinks” section shows you the internal links that point to a particular page.

“Content gap” displays keywords that your competitors rank high for but not you.

Ahrefs: Things I Didn’t Like

Poor Rank Tracking

Ahrefs updates rank tracking reports only once per 7 days for their lite plans. For their standard plan, Ahrefs updates your rank tracking reports once every 7 days. A rank tracker should update their records every day, in my opinion.

Limited PPC Features

Ahrefs has a PPC tool kit.

It’s pretty good, in my opinion. It might even be sufficient if you have Google Ads running for your website and a few clients. Ahrefs, however, isn’t as powerful as SEMrush when it comes to PPC.

Irrelevant Keyword Suggestions

Keyword Explorer is a love/hate relationship for me. Keyword Explorer gives you a lot of information about a keyword. It’s a shame that it doesn’t allow me to find new keywords ideas. There are too many suggestions that don’t make sense.

Ahrefs Review: The Bottom Line

Ahrefs is an SEO software suite that’s a leader in the field. It offers many features, including keyword research, backlink analysis, and technical SEO audits.

Ahrefs is a market leader in the SEO software industry, thanks to its excellent UI and world-class data.

I use Ahrefs multiple times per day. It has become a part of my daily work routine. Ahrefs is where I log in to access the data I need to verify a site’s backlinks or find a keyword.

Ahrefs is a great tool. It’s, in my opinion, one of the best SEO tools available right now.

What Is Our Top Recommendation For Making Money Online In 2021?

Our review team has come across a program in the real estate industry that is next level!

Although it’s not real estate in the traditional sense, it’s all digital.

Yup, Digital Real Estate!

Where SEO falls short is in scalability.

You can’t realistically expect to be able to do SEO all day everyday.

It just takes too many resources (money included) for any regular person to bootstrap, not to mention some clients can be real headaches!

But what if you could make even more money off of little local websites without having to spend all your day monitoring different campaigns?

With this digital real estate program, you can profit off LOCAL traffic to your website every single day!

Sound too good to be true? Of course it does! But it isn’t…in fact, business owners wish they had this skill!

All you have to do is build and rank a LOCAL website and forward the jobs off to a business owner in town, you could even email it to them!

This works for literally any service based business, tree service, plumbing, towing, etc.

How do you get paid and how much?

Simple, after you forward the jobs off to a business owner and he makes some money off of them, you simply ask to make the deal beneficial for each other.

A fair price to charge per lead, depending on the industry is 10-20%…let’s just use the tree service industry for example and go by worst case scenario.

Let’s say you build and rank the site and only 10 jobs a month come in. The average tree service job is anywhere from $500-$2000!

That means at bare minimum you have an asset worth $500 a month!

See why they call it digital real estate now? That’s a rent payment. Because It’s YOUR ASSET

The great thing is how easy it is to scale. You don’t have to worry about clients that are headaches because you own the website.

Back to SEO, why land a small $500 SEO client that is treating you like an employee, when you can own your own asset with leverage?

This model actually allows you to collect HUGE FLAT RATE DEALS. Truly passive income!

The training program takes making money online to a whole other level. The owner of the program walks you through how to build and rank a site hand in hand, with the occasional voice over when he is sharing his screen.

You will learn the importance of keywords, website name, how to send call notifications via email, backlinking, etc.

Once the training program is completed you will also have access to a Facebook group much better than the SEO groups in our opinion. This group is much more active.

Unlike SEO, where you’re getting maybe $250 per month, you could be getting 10-20X THAT.

A business will always want more leads and another job. In fact it doesn’t even matter that the job isn’t coming from their website name…they see it as it is…expanding digital real estate.

Unlike SEO, more people have been able to walk away from their 9-5 job as well.

Now, I know you probably have tons of questions…

So, check this out to learn more.
